T his manual was cre ated for use by a qualified technician, authorized by the DCS Service Dep artment.
To identify the Model and Serial #, locate and read the appliance rating plate. Th e ra ting plate is located on the rear left side of the interior top burner b ox ( rem ove the top burner gra tes and bowls), or on the right side of the burner box on some six bur ner models. In general, our Model numbering logic is as follows;
1 2 3 4
ie.
DCS-RG-484GG
1) (RG) denotes a Ra n ge with ga s ovens and
an integral gas cooktop, (C) denotes a gas cooktop.
2) (48)[47 7/8], (36)[35 7/8], or (30) indicates
unit nominal Width (in inches)
3) (4), or (6) i n di c ates # of open top burners
4 ) (GG) i ndicates a Griddle and Char-Rock Grill, (GD) in di cates a ther mostatically controlled Griddle section, or (G L) i ndi cates a Char-Rock Grill section
Befo re s ervicing the ra n ge , it is first important to accurately define the exact details of the complaint and then assess the cause of the defect. Complete Installation Instructions are included with each appli-
ance and should be consulted to ch eck for p roper installation practices. Charges rel ated to Installation are not covered under warranty. Common for a product this l arge and heavy is damage due to re ckless handling by tr ucking firm s, or Installation personnel moving the product into position.
What follows is an ove rvi ew of DCS warranty provision. Revi ew the warranty policy to determine wh at is covered under the warranty repair provisions and what will not be covered. Before beginning any work, the proposed service should either be authorize d by DCS, or, in the event the wo rk is not covered under wa rranty, the customer be informed of their responsibility for the repa ir ch arg es.

STEP ONE: ISOLATING THE PR
OBLEM
NOTE: Before a dd ressing any specific
problem the unit may h ave, it is advisable to help isolate the natu re of the problem by running a general check of the 1) Gas Supply and 2) Electrical Supply. The following procedure will n arr ow the possibilities and help direct you to the source of the problem. A detailed Tr ou bleshooting section with specific symptoms and likely corr ective courses of action follow s ea ch sub-assembly Partlist section.
CHECK GAS SUPPLY
First, check to see if the gas has been turned on.
Next, gain access to the regulator by re moving the grates over the cooktop burn e rs on the far left hand side of the cooktop. Beneath the gr a t e s, towards the rear of the burner box, the regulator is located between the manifold and rear incoming gas li ne. Check the top of the regulator to see that it is set up for the type of gas supplied to the unit. The c ap on top of the regulator indicates whether the unit is set up for NATURAL or L.P. gas.
When the gas supply is on, check the gas pressure with a manometer. The front main open top burner orifice is the most convenient place to che ck gas pressure. To access the main burner orifice, remove the four (4) screws that hold the burner hanger down and A) move aside the burner assembly or B) disconnect the igniter wire s and remove the entire burner / hanger assembly. Hook up a fl ex i bl e line to the main burner orifice, turn th at burner on... the pressur e should read 5.0" W .C. for N at u ral Ga s, and 10.0" W .C. for L.P . G as. Turn on other bur ners and che ck for an ex cessive drop in pressur e. A lar ge drop in pressure indicates a gas supply problem re lated to installation, not cove red by s ervice warranty.
CHECK ELECTRICAL SUPPLY
First, check to see if the electricity has been turned on.
Next, che ck pow er to the cord in the back of the ran ge and at the wall receptacle. If po wer is OK there, the nex t a rea to ch eck will be at the service disconnect located behind the va l ve panel. The Val ve Panel can be removed by rem oving the five (5) screw s t h at hold it in place. Two (2) screws are located at e a ch end of the panel, while one (1) screw (painted Red) behind a Burner Control knob must also be r em oved befo re the va lve panel can be re moved. Once the Va lve Panel has been removed, unplug and ch e ck for p ow er to the female side of the plug. Between 110 & 120 volts should be present, if not, there is a problem with the cord.
Check for pow e r at the Terminal Blocks, (Black= Live, White = Neutral)
