The Mid-Size Rough-In Bracket, part #45-0101, is designed for use with DataComm Electronics’ Cable Plates,
part numbers: 45-0071, 45-0072 and 45-0081. The Rough-In Bracket allows for an easy, code compliant
installation in both residential and commercial settings.
Phase 1: Installing the Mid-Size Rough-In Bracket (Pre-Drywall Installation)
1. Determine the desired location of your Mid-Size Rough-In Bracket.
2. Holding the Rough-In Bracket in the desired location, use your pen or pencil to mark the screw-hole location
directly onto the studs. Make your marks through the pre-drilled screw-holes on the sides of the Rough-In
Bracket. Make sure to use a level to ensure your markings are straight.
3. Now that the level position has been marked, use the appropriate screws for your installation to mount the
Rough-In Bracket securely to the studs.
• If you are installing the Bracket on metal studs, use four (4) Self-Tapping Sheet Metal Screws (not
included).
• If you are installing the Bracket on wood studs, use four (4) Drywall Screws (not included).
4. Route electrical wire from panel to the Rough-In Bracket following local and NEC regulations in your
geographical area. Use needle-nose pliers to open one of the knock-outs on the Steel Electrical Box of the
Rough-In Bracket. Pull the electrical wire through the desired knock-out. Make sure to pull enough electrical
wire through to allow for easy installation of the receptacle later in your installation.
5. Route all necessary low voltage cables and audio/video wires to the rear of the frame. Make sure to leave
sufficient length of all wire to reach the final equipment locations. Do not pull low voltage wires through the
opening; secure the wires to the rear of the frame to prevent possible damage during drywall installation.
Phase 2: Installing the Cable Plate into the Mid-Size Rough-In Bracket (Post Drywall Installation)
1. After drywall installation has been complete, you will install one of the coinciding DataComm Electronics’
Cable Plates into the Rough-In Bracket. For the Mid-Size Rough-In Bracket, part number 45-0101, you will
install one of the following part numbers: 45-0071, 45-0072 or 45-0081.

2. Remove the duplex receptacle from the packaging of the Cable Plate. Have a licensed electrician install the
receptacle by connecting the electrical wire that has been pulled through the Steel Electrical Box of the
Rough-In Bracket. After wiring is complete, screw the duplex receptacle securely to the Steel Electrical Box
using the included screws.
3. Pass all of the low voltage and audio/video cables through the back of the cable pass-through opening of
the Cable Plate.
4. Insert the Cable Plate into the opening of the Rough-In Bracket. The duplex receptacle will fit easily into the
rectangular opening of the Cable Plate.
5. Tighten the four screws on the Cable Plate, and the Metal Mounting Wings will grasp tightly to the back of
the Rough-In Bracket, holding the Cable Plate in place. Be sure not to over tighten the screws.
