• Person is too far from the COPD17M switch, see detection diagram.
• Person is moving unusually slowly (perhaps when testing).
The PIR stops working
• Ensure the unit is mounted correctly so that no water can enter.

Installation notes
Compact person detector, PIR switch
COPD17M
DANLERS Compact Person Detector can be mounted onto the end
of lighting battens via the 20mm knock out. The switch includes the
connection 20mm thread and can also be surface mounted onto an
external wall. It incorporates a passive infra-red quad sensor to detect
movement of a warm body within the detection zone (diagrams A & B).
The maximum detection range is up to 24m when mounted at the
maximum mounting height of 17 metres over 120 degrees.
If no more movement is detected within a pre-selected time, then
the PIR switch will turn the load off. This time lag can be set via the
TIME adjuster to 10 seconds, 20 seconds, 40 seconds, 80 seconds,
2 minutes 30 seconds, 5 minutes,10 minutes, 20 minutes or 40
minutes (diagram C).
Loading
The switch should only be connected to a 230V 50Hz AC supply.
These PIR switches can switch up to:
10 amps (2300W) of:
• Fluorescent lamps, either high frequency of switch start
• Incandescent or mains halogen lamps (recommended with
integral safety fuse)
They can also switch up to:
• 6 amps (1500W) of electronic or wire wound transformers.
• 6amps(1500W)ofcompactuorescentorLEDlampsanddrivers
(PF≥0.95).
• 1 amp (250W) of Fans.
Larger loads can be switched via a contactor.

Make sure the power is isolated from the circuit.
2.
3. If mounting on a lighting batten, Remove the 20mm thread from the PIR
and insert it through the 20mm knockout hole with the thread facing
outwards.
4. The detector should be connected as shown in diagram D
Brown - Live in. Blue - Neutral in. White - Switched Line out.
5. Feed your cable through the thread and with the PIR facing downwards
tighten the 20mm thread to ensure a tight seal.
6. The detector can be mounted up to 17 metres high.
7. The detector can also be mounted via any of the four pre-drilled
mounting holes (see
diagram E)
.
8. Make sure the power is still isolated from the circuit.
