Description / ApplicationThermoDual® is the compact and eective
domestic hot water (DHW) charging system.
Due to the consistent use of carefully selected
components and highest quality materials, the
compact the ThermoDual® system meet all of
the requirements for the prevention of legionella
growth.
The highly ecient heat transfer of the heat
exchangers enable The ThermoDual® system to
attain low heating water return temperatures
across the entire cycle of a tank charge, thus
reducing the required media ows. This
translates into greater operational eciency and
predestines this system for utilization in district
heating networks and in combination with
condensing boilers. The optimum adaptation to
the applicable specic needs in terms of storage
capacity and output ensures a maximum of
eciency, comfort and hygiene.

The domestic hot water temperature is
maintained at a constant level through a
balancing valve via the water temperature
controller (CVS / CVE).
As a result, the following operation modes can
be dened for the ThermoDual® DHW charging
system:
Low Load Operation
During low load operation, all of the cold water
ows through the heat exchanger (HEL). If the
tap output is smaller than the ow pre-set by the
balancing valve, a portion of the hot water (tap
ow) ows to the tap locations in the upper part
of the tank (DTA) as a bypass. The residual water
is removed from the bottom of the tank (DTA),
causing the tank (DTA) to be continually charged.
The total tap output is covered by the heat
exchanger (HEL), while the storage tank (DTA) is
not being discharged.
Peak Load Operation
During peak load operation (higher demand that
can be supplied by the available heating power),
the pre-set cold water ow ows through the
heat exchanger (HEL) and the residual water
streams from the bottom to the top of the
storage tank (DTA). The tap output is covered
by the heat exchanger (HEL) while the domestic
water storage tank (DTA) is being simultaneously
discharged.
Once tap operation ceases, the storage tank
(DTA) is charged as described below.
If there is no consumption the storage tank (DTA)
is being charged.
The total charging ow is removed through
the bottom of the tank (DTA) and returned
through the top of the storage tank (DTA) via
heat exchanger (HEL). If the storage tank (DTA) is
completely charged and no output consumption
occurs, the control valve (CVS / CVE) closes and
interrupts the heating water ow.
A virtual ash showing the operations is
available, please contact your Danfoss local
representative.
After the storage tank has been set up, the heat
exchanger is attached. The pre-mounted tting
set, charging pump and stainless steel pipe can
