LED Tail Lights for 1970-72 Nova

1. Remove the tail light lens.

2. Remove the light bulb

3. Remove the original bulb connector from the back side of the housing.

4. Now is a good time to clean the lens and housing. If lenses are in bad shape a new set is
recommended.

5. Remove the two screws and mounting plate from the side of the new LED assembly.

6. Insert the new LED assembly into the taillight housing and route wires through the hole where
the original bulb and connector were located. Use caution when feeding the wires through to

avoid damaging the wire insulation.

7. Feed the wires through the larger hole in the mounting plate and guide it to the bottom of the
housing. The flat side of the mounting plate should be on the outside of the housing and the
side with the slight raised center should go toward inside of the housing. This will properly
align the mount in the original housing.

8. Now hold the LED assembly centered over the hole where the original bulb was and align the
mounting plate from the bottom with the slot in the housing. The screw holes on the LED
assembly and the mounting plate should be lined up.

9. Screw the mounting plate into the mount using the two previously removed 3/8” #6 screws.
This will secure the LED assembly into the housing. You are now ready for reassembly.

10. Place the original lens gasket into place and replace the tail light lens. Tighten the screws
down carefully.
