Programming System Features
The System Features Learn Routine dictates how the unit operates. It is possible to access and change most of the feature settings using the Valet switch.
1. Open a door.
2. Tu rn the ignition on, then off.
3. Select a Menu. Press and hold the Valet switch. The number of siren chirps
indicates the menu number. 1 chirp indicates menu 1, 2 chirps - menu 2, and 3 chirps for menu 3.
4. When the desired menu chirps are heard, release the Valet switch.
5. Select a Feature. Press and release the Valet switch the number of times corresponding to the feature you wish to change. Then press and hold one more time to select the features.
6. Program the Feature. While holding the Valet switch, you can program the feature using the remote control.
To change the desired options press;
= one chirp setting, while
= two,
three or higher chirps setting.
Once a feature is programmed:
• Other features can be programmed within the same menu
• Another menu can be selected
• The learn routine can be exited if programming is complete
To access another feature in the same menu:
1. Press and release the Valet switch the number of times necessary to advance from the feature you just programmed to the next one you want to program.
2. Then press the Valet switch once more and hold it.
To select another menu:
1. Press and hold the Valet switch.
2. After 3 seconds, the unit advances to the next menu and the siren chirps, indicating which menu has been accessed.
The learn routine exits if any of the following occurs:
• The open door is closed
• The ignition is turned On
• There is no activity for 15 seconds or more
• The Valet switch is pressed too many times
Programming continued on page 2.
Bitwriters with a date code of 6a or older require an IC upgrade (p/n 998M). Some bitwriters with a date code of 6B do not require the IC upgrade, refer to tech tip # 1112 for more information.
The Bitwriter® (p/n 998U) requires chip version 2.4 or newer to program this unit.
Note: For more door lock wiring information, see tech tip #1041 at: www.directechs.com (authorized users only).
Note: The sensor ground outputs from the system
are only active when the system is armed.

Bitwriter - Only Options
If programming with the Bitwriter®, the learn routine can be locked or unlocked. If the learn routine has previously been locked, it must be unlocked with Bitwriter® - this cannot be done manually with the Valet Switch.
The Bitwriter® gives you access to a wider range of system options. These features and the adjustments that may be programmed are described in the table below. Default settings are in bold type.

Transmitter learn routine
1. Open a door.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Select a channel. Press and release the Valet switch the number of times neces-
sary to access the channel desired (see programming menu), and then press and hold the Valet switch once more. The siren chirps and the LED blinks the number of times corresponding to the channel number chosen.
4. Continue holding the Valet switch.
5. While holding the Valet switch, press the button on the remote control you want to assign to the selected channel (for autolearn or to delete all transmitters/remote controls, press the
button). The siren chirps indicating success-
ful programming.
6. Release the Valet switch to exit the learn routine. The siren sounds one long chirp indicating exit.
The learn routine exits if any of the following occurs:
• The ignition is turned off
• The door is closed
• There is no activity for 15 seconds or more
• The Valet switch is pressed too many times

default factory state.
Shock Sensor Adjustment
Note: This procedure applies only to the onboard Zone 2 shock sensor.
To enter shock sensor adjustment mode:
IMPORTANT! The system must be disarmed, and doors and other protected points of entry (zones 1 and 6) must be closed, and the ignition (zone 5) must be off.
Press and hold AUX and
buttons for 4 seconds. This siren emits one long chirp to indicate entry into mode. The LED illuminates and remains on for the duration of the adjustment.
Note: When the shock sensor adjustment mode is entered, all other timers and operations are bypassed until adjustment mode is exited.
To adjust the shock sensor setting:
Note: When adjusting the shock sensor, ensure that the vehicle’s doors are closed.
Increase Sensitivity—Press and release the
button to increase shock sensor sensitivity by one step. The siren chirps twice times for each incremental step. When maximum sensitivity is reached, the siren emits two short chirps and then one long chirp.
Decrease Sensitivity—Press and release the
button to decrease shock sensor sensitivity by one step. The siren chirps once for each decremented step. When minimum sensitivity is reached (sensor is Off), the siren emits one short chirp and then one long chirp.
Testing Sensor—Carefully impact the door pillar of the car after any sensitivity increase or decrease adjustment. The siren chirps once if the impact was great enough to generate a full trigger. Pre-warn level is set automatically. When the desired setting is reached, sensor adjustment mode can be exited.
The adjustment mode will be exited if:
• No input from transmitter for 15-seconds.
• No input from sensitivity testing for 15-seconds.
• The ignition is turned On.
• The Valet switch is pressed.
The siren emits one long chirp and the LED turns off when this mode is exited.
Reset Shock Sensor to Default Setting
The shock sensor can be restored to a default setting of 10 to facilitate re-adjustment at any time while in adjustment mode.
1. Simultaneously press the AUX and
buttons.
2. The system emits three chirps to indicate the sensor has been reset to level 10.
3. The system returns to shock sensor adjustment mode for further adjustment, if required.
Long Term Event History
The system stores the last six full triggers in memory. These are not erasable. Each time the unit sees a full trigger, the older of the two triggers in memory is replaced by the new trigger. To access long term event history:
1. With the ignition Off, press and hold the Valet switch.
2. Tu rn the ignition On.
3. Release the Valet switch.
4. Within 5 seconds, press and release the Valet switch. The status LED flashes in groups indicating the last six zones that triggered the unit for 1 minute or until the ignition is turned off. Refer to table of zones.
Table of Zones
Zone Trigger Type Description Input Description
1 Instant Optional trunk input, 12 pin Blue wire
2 Multiplexed Onboard shock sensor
3 Instant two-stage, or constant Door switch circuit, 12 pin Green or
Violet wire
4 Multiplexed input (sensors) Optional Sensor (Sensor 2)
5 Two-stage (similar to doors) Ignition input, 12 pin Yellow wire
6 Hood trigger Optional hood input, 8 pin Grey wire
7 Multiplexed input (sensors) Optional Sensor (Sensor 3)
Note: The Warn Away response does not report on the LED.
