INDUSTRIAL FOAM CUTTER
500 SERIES
Blade Removal and Replacement
1. Stop the saw so that one blade is in the upper position and one blade is in the lower position.
2. Unplug the unit once the blades are in the correct position for removal or replacement.
3. Unscrew the two screws on the front of the motor.
4. Remove the faceplate behind thumbscrews.
5. Note the position of the blades so that you can replace them in the same position.
6. Make sure the beveled edges of the blades are to the outside with the teeth to the inside.
7. Pull the top of the blades forward and then lift them out.
8. Install the new blades making sure the beveled edges of the blades are to the outside.
9. Replace faceplate and thumb screws.
Blade sharpness
As the upper teeth of your saw do almost no cutting, you may compare them to your lower teeth to
determine the wear on you lower teeth.
Lubrication
The blades should be occasionally lubricated with any lubricating oil. The purpose of the lubrication is to
reduce heat and friction on both sides of the blades. Failure to do this will result in excess stress on the
motor and shorten its useful life.
1. Unplug before you attempt to lubricate the unit.
2. Unscrew the two screws on the front of the motor
3. Apply the lubricant to both outsides and the insides of the blades at the top of the blades.
4. The up and down motion of the moving blade will draw the oil down into the blade guide on
either side of the blade.
Silicone Spray
The exterior of the blade guide may be sprayed frequently with a silicone spray. The purpose of this
Silicone spray is to enable the foam to slip more easily past the blade guide.
Base Plate
The base plate is attached by two high strength screws, which should always be kept tight to prevent
breakage. We have installed them with blue removable Loctite to keep them tight. If you are having any
difficulty keeping these screws tight, you should immediately use Loctite (available through your
hardware store).
For certain freehand cutting, you may wish to remove the base plate. Unplug the unit, loosen the two
base screws and removing the base plate. If you have difficulty getting the base screws to release, use a
heat gun on the heads of the screws for about two minutes and the screws should release. Do not apply

excess power to twist the screw without using a heat gun, as the screws will break in the blade guide.
These screws should be tight at all times (otherwise they will break). We recommend that you use blue
Loctite if you do not remove the base during your use of the saw.
Mesh Gloves
As these cutters include very sharp blades, every precaution should be used to minimize the risk of injury.
We suggest the use of a steel mesh glove (# SGA515).
