PRECAUTIONS
" General
! Please ensure that the equipment is positioned in a
well.
ventilated area and ensure that there is at least 10cm of free space along the sides, top and back of the equipment. ! Do not use oil, solvents, petrol, paint thinners or insecticides
on the unit. ! Do not expose the unit to moisture, to temperatures higher
than 60 C (140 F) or to extreme low temperatures. ! Keep the unit away from direct sunlight, strong mag­ netic fields, excessive dust, humidity and electronic/ electrical quipment (home computers, facsimiles, etc.) which generates electrical noise. ! Hold the AC power plug by the head when removing it
from the AC socket, since pulling the lead can damage
internal wires. ! Remove the AC power plug from the wall socket before
cleaning the heads, pinch rollers, etc.
! This unit contains dangerous voltages. ! Do not remove the outer cover, as this may result in electric
shock. ! Use the unit on a firm, level surface free from vibration,
and do not place anything on the top of the unit. ! If the unit does not work properly whilst in use, set the ON/STAND-BY switch to STAND-BY, then disconnect the AC power lead from the AC socket. Plug the AC power lead back in, and then set the ON/STAND-BY switch to ON. ! If a lightning storm is taking place near you, it is sug ­ gested that you disconnect the AC power lead from the AC socket for safety. ! Read the operation instructions carefully before you
attempt to use this unit. ! Ensure that all electrical connections (including the mains
plug and any extension leads) are properly made and in accordance with the manufacturers in structions. ! Ensure that this unit is switched off at the mains outlet if
you go away for an extended period. Remove the plug if the mains outlet has no switch. ! Always ask the advise of a qualified engineer if you are
ever in any doubt about the operation or safety of this
unit. He is best person to advise you. ! Don’t expose the unit to rain or moisture in order to prevent
fire or electrical shock. ! Don’t continue to operate this unit if you have doubts about it working normally, or if it damage in any way ­ withdraw the mains plug and consult a qualified engineer. ! Don’t place items containing water (vase of flowers etc.)
on top of the unit. Irreparable damage may be caused if water drops into the unit through any of the ventilation openings.
! Don’t obstruct any of the ventilation slots in this unit, nor
stand it close to curtains or on carpeting. Obstructing these ventilation slots may cause over heating and shorten the life of the unit.
Warning :
The voltage used must be the same as that specified on this unit. Using this product with a higher voltage than that which is specified is dangerous and may result in a fire or other type of accident causing damage.
" Volume Control
The sound level at a given volume setting depends on a combination of speaker efficiency, location and various other factors. It is advisable to avoid exposure to high volume levels, which occur whilst turning the unit on with the volume control setting up high, or whilst continually listening at high volumes.
" Condensation
Sudden temperature changes, storage or operation in an extremely humid environment may cause condensation inside the cabinet (CD pickup, tape heads, etc.) or on the transmitter LED on the remote control. Condensation can cause the unit to malfunction. If this happens, leave the power on with no disc (or cassette) in the unit normal playback is possible (about 1 hour) or wipe off any condensation on the transmitter LED with a soft cloth before operating the unit.
" Care of compact discs
Compact discs are fairly resistant to damage, however mistracking can occur due to an accumulation of dirt on the disc surface. Follow the guidelines below for maximum enjoyment from your CD collection and player. ! Do not write on either side of the disc, particularly the
non-label side. Signals are read from the non-label side.
Do not mark this surface. ! Keep your discs away from direct sunlight, heat, and excessive moisture. ! Always hold the CDs by the edges. Fingerprints, dirt, o r water on the CDs can cause noise or mistracking. If a CD is dirty or does not play properly, clean it with a soft, dry cloth,wiping straight out from the centre, along the radius.

PREPARATION FOR USE

" Putting the batteries into the Remote
Control Unit
Press down of the compartment cover, and slide the cover off open the compartment. Place the two accessory (UM3), (AA), (R6) batteries in the remote control according to the polarity markings (“+” and “--”) inside the compartment and on the batteries. Place the cover over the compartment, press down lightly, and push it upward until it snaps on.

AMPLIFER
1. Pr e s s POWER/ST.-BY button to switch on the unit.
2. Required the sound source (CD, RADIO or TAPE) can be selected by pressing the individual button. The corresponding display indicator will light up.
3. Adjust the volume with the VOLUME UP/DOWN
button. 4 Set the tone with built in preset equalizer (NORMAL, CLASSIC, ROCK, POP)
5. Press POWER/ST.-by button to switch off the unit.
USING THE COMPACT DISC PLAYER
If a Compact Disc Player is subject to sudden vibration while playing it may skip or mistrack. It is therefore preferable to use the player on a flat level surface.
" Playing a compact disc
Press the POWER button to switch on the set. Press the CD button once and “CD” indicator will light up. Open the CD tray. Insert the Compact Disc and close the CD tray. The LCD display will indicate the number of tracks on the disc and the playing time. If the disc is inserted incorrectly, the
disc will not play.
Press the PLAY/PAUSE button once to start the disc playing. Adjust the volume control as required. To stop play, press the STOP button.
" Pause
If it is desired to pause during play, press the PLAY/PAUSE button once. The TRACK/TIME indicator & CD PKACKBACK indicator will flash on the display. Press PLAY/PAUSE to resume playback.
" Skip
The skip function can be used during play, or when stopped (not paused) in order to skip to the start or end of a track on the disc. To skip forwards press the SKIP (>>l) button repeatedly until the desired track is reached. To skip backwards press the SKIP (I<<) button repeatedly until the desired track is reached.
" Programming memory play
By programming the CD player, you can play up to 20 tracks in any desired order.
1. Place the disc to be programmed in the tray. Press MEMORY/C-ADJ button once.
2. The “TRACK” ,”MEMORY” and P-01 indicator will show on
the display.
3. Use CD SKIP UP or SKIP DOWN button to select the first
track to the programmed.
4. When the desired tracks appears on the display, press
MEMORY/C-ADJ button again.
5. The “TRACK” ,”MEMORY” and P-02 indicator will show on
the display.
6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to memories up to 20 tracks.
7. In the radio mode, when frequency is displayed, this key is use for setting of memory writing enable state for 5 second.
8. Press the PLAY button, play starts with the first track of the program. When all tracks have been played, the display shows the number of tracks and the playing time of the CD songs.
9. To cancel your memories program press STOP button once, open the CD tray and close it again the memory will be erased.
* Ensure the CD is stopped before open the CD tray or
press Stop first then open the CD tray. *
" Repeat Play
1. During play, press repeat button “REPEAT” indicator
light up & not flash on the display. The inserted wil play sequentially & repeatedly until the CD STOP button is pressed.
2. Press REPEAT button again, “REPEAT” indicator lights
up & flash on the display. A current sound track can be selected to play repeatedly until CD STOP button is pressed.
3. Press REPEAT button again, until the “REPEAT” indica-
tor light goes out to stop repeat function.

RADIO OPERATION
BEAT CUT
Press the TUNER & BAND button to selet the Radio operation.

1. Press TUNER button to select waveband range will appear on the display.
2. Select the desired waveband range with the BAND button.

" Automatic tuning
""
1. Press TUNING UP/DOWN for a second or more, then release the button. The tuner will automatically for first station of sufficient signal strength.
2. Press above procedure if you wish to select another station.

" Manual tuning
""
1. To tune to weak stations, use manual tuning by pressing TUNING UP or DOWN button continuously until you read the correct frequency or the reception is at its best.
2. When you want to select FM stereo station, press the
FM MODE button on STEREO first . When you receive
a FM stereo station the “STEREO” indicator appear on the display, you can receiving FM stereo tramission.
3. When you press the FM MODE button to MONO,stop the stereo recieving.
STORING STATION
1. 20 station for all bands that can be stored in memory,
you can tune in the stored station directly by entering the memory number.
2. Select your desired band.
3. Tune in the desired station
4. Press MEMORY/C-ADJ. button ‘MEMORY” indicator
will flash on the display.
5. Press M.-UP button to select the channel.
6. Press MEMORY/C-ADJ. button to store the station.
7. Repeat above steps for each station stored.
Note :
1. You can not erase a previously stored station, but
storing a new station will exchange the previous one.
2. If no power supplied, then stored station are erased.
Please store station again.
When beats are produced while listening to or recording a AM broadcast, active the beat cut switch so that the beats are eliminated or minimized
CASSETTE OPERATION
" Playback
Playback a pre-recorded tape
1. Press the TAPE button once and the “TAPE” indicator light up on the display.
2. Press the cassette door open, then the cassette door
eject button and insert a recorded cassette.
3. Press the PLAY button.
4. Adjust the VOLUME control for your desired level.
5. Press the STOP button to stop playback at any time .
When the end of the tape is reached, the tape will automatically stop.
" Winding The Tape
1. Press F.F. to fast-foward the tape.
2. Press REW to fast-rewind the tape.
3. Press STOP to stop fast-forward or fast-rewind,
before the end of the tape.
" ALC (Automatic Level Control)
Recording
This unit has an ALC circuit and no further adjustment is necessary. A) Recording from the built-in radio
1. Tune in a desired radio programme as described in
“RADIO OPERATION” section.
2. Press the OPEN CASSETTE DOOR button, then the cas-
sette door eject.
3. Insert a cassette & close the cassette door.
4. Press the REC button.
5. Since you can monitor through the speakers with-
out affecting the of recording level, you can ad­ just the VOLUME and other controls.
6. Press the STOP button to stop recording at any time.
B) Recording from the CD player
Proceed the CD play operation as described in “PLAY-
ING A COMPACT DISC”.
" Pause
Press the PAUSE button of momentarily stop tape travel during recording. Re-press the button for pause release and recording restart.

" Listen the Music by using headphone
A 3.5mm headphone socket is provided on the unit. You can use the headphone by inserting the headphone jack to the socket.
" Auto Stop
When the tape reaches the end in play or record, the built­in Auto Stop system functions to release the depressed play, record keys. The Auto Stop works on Fast Forward and Rewind after fast winding. When the Auto Stop system operates while recording from the built-in radio or CD player, only the cassette function is brought automatically to a stop and the radio or CD player will continue to play.
" Types of Cassettes
Use only good quality ferric cassettes (IEC Type I) for making recordings. May be used to replay other types of cassette (eg. Chrome or metal IEC Types II or IV) but is unable to make proper recordings on these more spe­cialist tapes. The use of C120 cassettes is NOT recom­mended in this machine.
" Protecting Recordings
Normally, anything recorded on the tape is automatically erased when the new recording is made. It is possible to protect your recordings from accidental erasure by removing the tabs found on the rear of the cassette. When the cassette is held with the recorded side upper­most and exposed tape facing the front, the protective tab will be found on the left rear of the cassette (see diagram).
" Care of Cassette Mechanism
Gently clean the tape head and pinch-wheel/capstan assemblies after every 10 hours of use until all traces of oxide deposit have been removed. A range of Cassette Care products is available.
RECORD/PLAY HEAD
ERASE HEAD
The erase head and record/play head and the surface of the pinch roller are delicate and must not be touched with metal objects such as screwdrivers. You may find it easier to clean the assembly by pressing the PLAY button to bring the head and pinch roller into view. Be sure to press the STOP button after cleaning the mechanism. Damage to the pinchwheel can occur if the unit is left in PLAY mode with the power switched off. Under no circumstances should you attempt to lubricate any part of the machine.

" How to take out the Tape
Press the open cassette door button. And then the cas­sette door eject. Use the finger to take out the tape.(see
diagram)
All pre-recorded cassettes are protected in this way to prevent accidental erasure of the commercial recordings. “Protected” cassettes will prevent the record button from being operated. If at any time you attempt to record and find that this button will not depress, never force the mechanism or it may be damaged. Check that a cassette has been loaded and that the tab has not been removed. Record­ing on a cassette from which the tabs have been removed can be done by covering the tab openings with a piece of adhesive tape.

COMPACT DISC
MODE/REMAIN
1. Always use a compact discs bearing the mark as shown.
2. Notes on handling discs. Removing the disc from its storage case and loading it.
* Do not touch the reflective recorded surface. * Do not stick paper or write anything on the surface. * Do not bend the disc.
Press MODE/REMAIN button changing the display as shown below. In the radio mode : Frequency display >> Clock display. In the CD mode : (During play) Playing time display >> Remaining time display >> Clock display. (During stop) All time display >> Clock display. In the TAPE mode : Clock display. (Remark: The REMAIN indicator will light up on the display
during on playing CD stage)

* Press POWER is on standby mode. * Press MEMORY/C-ADJ button, time display hour digit flash. * Press TUNING/SKIP UP or DOWN button to adjust
hour digit. * Press MEMORY/C-ADJ button again, Time display minute digit flash, pressTUNING/SKIP/SEARCH UP or DOWN button to adjust minute digit.
MUTE (REMOTE CONTROL ONLY)
If you press the MUTE button, the indicator will light on & the audio output will be temporary terminate. Then press MUTE button again, the indicator will light off & the audio output will continoues as normal.
3. Storage * Store the disc in its case. * Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high tempera
tures, high humidity or dusty places.
4. Cleaning a disc. * Should the disc become soiled, wipe off dust, dirt
and fingerprints with a soft cloth.
* The disc should be cleaned from the centre to the
edge.

or anti static spray.
* Be sure to close the CD door so the lens is not
contaminated by dust. Do not touch the lens.

* Press POWER in Standby mode. * Press MODE button changing the display as shown “ TIMER ON” digit, press MEMORY/C-ADJ button & TUN ING UP/ DOWN button to select the time of the TIMER ON, press MODE button changing the display as shown” TIMER OFF” digit, press MEMORY/C-ADJ button & TUNING UP/DOWN but ton to select the time of TIMER OFF. * Press TIMER button, the display timer shown. The time of TIMER ON is on the standby mode. * TIMER ON for wake up radio or cassette. The inital vol ume level is equal to last turn off volume level. NOTE : Except CD on the CD mode.
PRESET EQ
Press the PRESET EQ button, and LCD indicator will dis­play CLASSIC or ROCK or POP graphic equalizer. Then you can adjust the tune to desired level & set of indepen­dent frequency controls, you can get your favourite sound shape flexibly.
