Do not expose this product to dripping or splashing or place any objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the product. Never put a naked flame source such as lighted candles on or near the product. Remove the mains plug from the wall socket and disconnect the external aerial during thunderstorms. If anything goes wrong, don't try and fix it yourself, get a qualified service agent to carry out any repairs or maintenance. Save these instructions for future reference.

We have designed and made this product to meet European safety standards, but as with any electronic equipment you must take care.

Here is some good advice to help you stay safe and get the best results Install or locate this product only in accordance with the installation instructions found in

this instruction book. Use this product only for its intended purpose as described in the operating instructions. Children and the infirm must be closely supervised by a competent person. If the product includes small parts, do not let children play with it. Examine the product thoroughly: If it is damaged in any way notify the retail store where you purchased it. For products supplied with a mains adapter or a detachable mains cord, if the adapter or its leads get damaged, it must be replaced with an adapter of the same type and rating. To save power, disconnect from the mains when you are not using the product unless the function of the product requiresa continuous power supply. If the mains switch does not disconnect the product from the mains: The mains plug shall be the main disconnect device and shall be operable at all times. Avoid harsh conditions such as wet or damp places, rain, high humidity, strong vibration, extremely high or low temperatures, strong sunlight and places that are very dusty. DO NOT install or use this product if you have spilt liquids in it, if it is damaged in any way, if it has been dropped or if it does not work normally. Disconnect from the mains and seek expert advice.

DO NOT leave the product unattended while it is operating unless it is designed to do so. DO NOT store this product outdoors or expose to rain or moisture. DO NOT use this product near water, for example near a kitchen sink, in a bathroom or

near a swimming pool. DO NOT remove outer panels or covers from the product. Repairs must only be undertaken by a qualified service person. DO NOT place the product or mains lead near a hot surface such as a gas or electric cooker or fire.

DO NOT operate the product when room humidity is excessive. Power supply Make sure the voltage marked on the rating plate on the rear of the product matches the supply in your area.

An incorrect supply voltage is dangerous and may result in a fire or damage to the product. The manufacturer accepts no responsibility for any damage or injury resulting from connecting to any voltage other than that specified on the rating plate located on the back of the product. See the instruction book for the exact voltage range.

Mains plug and mains lead

We have fitted this equipment with a standard mains plug. If you cut off the mains plug or fit a different type, destroy the old plug, as it is dangerous to insert it into a live power outlet. If a fuse is fitted to the plug, remove the fuse before throwing the plug away. Carefully follow the wiring instructions supplied with a new mains plug. Never use a fused mains plug without the fuse cover. If the mains lead becomes damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified person with an approved mains lead of the same type and rating to avoid a hazard. Make sure the mains lead cannot be walked on, crushed, chafed or cut and that it is routed in such a way as to reduce the risk of a tripping hazard. Do not let the mains lead hang over edge of a table or counter or come into contact with hot surfaces. Do not immerse the mains lead or mains plug in water or any other liquid.

Mains plug wiring for the UK

In a re wirable plug the wires in the mains lead of this equipment must be connected as follows.

The wire coloured brown must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter L. The wire coloured blue must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter N.

There is no green or green and yellow wire. Do not connect anything To the Earth terminal which is marked E, or with a Symbol.

You must make sure the mains lead is firmly secured under the cord Clamp.

Mains fuse

UK standard (BS1363) plugs must be fitted with a BS1362 standard fuse rated at 3A or 5A.

Ventilation

Allow at least a 10cm gap all around the unit. Don't obstruct the ventilation slots with soft furnishings. Overheating will increase the risk of fire.

Cleaning

Disconnect the mains supply and use only a lightly dampened soft cloth. Do not use chemical solvents or strong detergents as these may damage the cosmetic finish. Never allow water droplets to remain on the screen as moisture can cause permanent discoloration.

Batteries

Remove batteries when the remote control is not to be used for a long time. Batteries left in the product may cause damage through deterioration and corrosive leakage, invalidating the guarantee. To protect the environment, use local recycling facilities for disposal. Never throw batteries on a fire! Danger of explosion.

1. Front panel

1. REMOTE CONTROL SENSOR: Used to receive the signal from the remote control.

2. USB JACK(Optional): Used to connect to an external USB 2.0 device.

Note: Not all receivers have the USB Jack.

1. RF IN : This socket connects to your external aerial.

Remote Key Function:

15. MENU:Used to open the main menu or return to the previous menu.

16. EPG: Used to display information about the programme being viewed and what's on next.

17. VOL-: Used to move around the menu screens or change the volume when not in menu

mode.

18. CH- :Used to move around the menu screens or select the channels when not in menu mode.

19. TEXT: Used to open the interactive digital teletext if available.

20. PAUSE: Used to pause or resume the programme being viewed .

21.PAGE-:Used to page down, when there are multiple pages(i.e.channel list).

1. MUTE Used to turn the sound on or off.

2. NUMBER KEYS:Used to select channel numbers or

input numbers in menus.

3.TV/RADIO: Used to switch between TV channels and Radio stations.

4. INFO Used to display information about the channel being viewed or further information about the programme

when in normal play mode.

5. SUBTITLE: Used to switch between different subtitles

that are broadcast.

6. EXIT: Used to exit all menus.

7. CH+: Used to move around the menu screens or

select channels when not in menu mode.

8. VOL+:Used to move around the menu screens or change the volume.

9. OK: Used to confirm a selection within a menu.

10. COLOUR KEYS(RED/ GREEN/ YELLOW/ BLUE):

Used to operate different functions in teletext,etc.

11. PAGE+:Used to page up, when there are multiple

pages (i. e. channel list).

12.STANDBY Used to switch the set top box to on or standby.

13. FAV: Used to access your favourite channels.

14. AUDIO:Used to select the audio language, and set the

audio out type, stereo, left, right, meno.

Note: SUBTITLE/TEXT/AUDIO may not be available for all channels.

Installing the Batteries

Remove the battery cover from the remote control and install 2XAAA (not supplied) size batteries inside the compartment. The diagram inside the battery compartment shows the correct way (polarity) to install

Using the Remote Control

To use the remote control, point it towards the front of the digital set top box The remote control has a range of up to 7 metres from the set top box at an angle of up to 60 degrees.

The remote control will not operate if its path is blocked. If operation of the remote becomes erratic then the batteries probably need replacing. Be sure to replace them with the same type. Do not mix old and new batteries, always replace both.

Sunlight or very bright light will decrease the sensitivity of the remote control.

Connections

Caution: Make sure to check the voltage specification of your

mains supply is the same rating as the receiver. To prevent the risk of electric shock, do not open the cover or the back of the receiver.

Note: When connecting the receiver to other equipment, e.g., TV, VCR and amplifier, make sure to refer to relevant user manual for instruction. Also, make sure you disconnect all the equipment from the mains supply before making any connections.

User Interface

The 'Exit ' key will close on screen menus . All menus will automatically be removed after 30 seconds unless otherwise stated.

1)Welcome Screen

When the STB is powered up for the first time or is brought out of standby a welcome screen will be displayed. This will tell the user to press the OK key to start a full frequency service scan.

2) Volume Control

A bar will be displayed when volume is changed by pressing Vol+ or Vol-. The bar will disappear after a predefined time following the last Vol+ or Vol- key press. Automatically removed after 2 seconds.

3) Mute Symbol

Pressing the Mute key mutes the sound and a symbol is displayed, Automatically removed after 2 seconds.

4) Screen Freeze

Pressing the Pause key will Freeze the Screen and a pause symbol will be displayed. Press the Pause key again to exit Freezing.

5) Direct Digit Entry

When the user initiates a channel change using the number keys, The user can press the OK key to force the channel change before all 3 digits have been entered. If all 3 digits are entered then the channel change will occur. 5 seconds after the last key press, the channel change will be initiated if all digits have not been entered.

6) TV/Radio select

Press TV/Radio button on the remote to toggle between TV channels and Radio stations, then you can change among the TV channels or Radio stations by pressing CH+/- buttons. This mode can be removed later if you select a channel by Direct Digit Entry or Service Organiser.
