1. TRAINING
• Read this operator's manual carefully in its entirety
before attempting to assemble or operate this
machine. Be completely familiar with the controls
and the proper use of this machine before
operating it. Keep this manual in a safe place for
future and regular reference and for ordering
replacement parts.
• Never allow children under 14 years old to operate
a snow thrower. Children 14 years old and over
should only operate snow thrower under close
parental supervision. Only persons well acquainted
with these rules of safe operation should be
allowed to use your snow thrower.
• No one should operate this unit while intoxicated or
while taking medication that impairs the senses or
reactions.
• Keep the area of operation clear of all persons,
especially small children and pets.
• Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling,
especially when operating in rev ers e.
2. PREPARATION
• Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment
is to be used and remove all door mats, sleds,
boards, wires and other foreign objects.
• Disengage all clutches before starting engine.
• Do not operate equipment without wearing
adequate winter outer garments. Do not wear
jewelry, long scarfs or other loose clothing which
could become entangled in moving parts. Wear
footwear which will improve footing on slippery
surfaces.
• Before working with gasoline, extinguish all
cigarettes and other sources of ignition. Check the
fuel before starting the engine. Gasoline is an
extremely flammable fuel. Do not fill the gasoline
tank indoors, while the engine is running, or until
engine has been allowed to cool at least two
minutes. Replace gasoline cap securely and wipe
off any spilled gasoline before starting the engine
as it may cause a fire or explosion.
• Use a grounded three wire plug-in for all units with
electric drive motors or electric starting motors.
• Adjust collector housing height to clear gravel or
crushed rock surface.
• Never attempt to make any adjustments while
engine is running (except where specifically
recommended by manufac turer).
• Let engine and machine adjust to outdoor
temperature before starting to clear snow.
• Always wear safety glasses or eye shields during
operation or while performing an adjustment or
repair, to protect eyes from foreign objects that may
be thrown from the machine in any direction.
3. OPERATION
• Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating
parts. Keep clear of discharge opening and auger
at all times.
• Exercise extreme caution when operating on or
crossing gravel drives, walks, or roads. Stay alert
for hidden hazards or traffic. Do not carry
passengers.
• After striking a foreign object, stop the engine,
remove wire from spark plug, and thoroughly
inspect the snow thrower for any damage. Repair
the damage before restarting and operating the
snow thrower.

• If the snow thrower should start to vibrate
abnormally, stop the engine and check immediately
for the cause. Vibration is generally a warning of
trouble.
• Stop engine whenever you leave the operating
position, before unclogging the collector/impeller
housing or discharge guide, and making any
repairs, adjustments, or inspections. Never place
your hand in the discharge or collector openings.
Use a stick or wooden broom handle to unclog the
discharge opening.
• Take all possible precautions when leaving the unit
unattended. Disengage the collector/impeller, stop
the engine, and remove the key.
• When cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, make
certain collector/impeller and all moving parts have
stopped. Disconnect spark plug wire and keep
away from plug to prevent accidental starting.
• Do not run engine indoors, except when starting
engine and transporting snow thrower in or out of
building. Open doors. Exhaust fumes are
dangerous.
• Do not clear snow across the face of slopes.
Exercise extreme caution when changing direction
on slopes. Do not attempt to clear steep slopes.
• Never operate snow thrower without guards, plates,
or other safety protection devices in place.
• Never operate snow thrower near glass enclosure,
automobiles, window wells, drop off, etc., without
proper adjustments of snow thrower discharge
angle. Keep children and pets away.
• Do not overload machine capacity by attempting to
clear snow at too fast a rate.
• Never operate the machine at high transport
speeds on slippery surfaces. Look behind and use
care when backing.
• Never direct discharge at bystanders or allow
anyone in front of unit.
• Disengage power to collector/impeller when
transporting or not in use.
• Use only attachments and accessories approved
by the manufacturer of snow thrower (such as
wheel weights, counter weights, cabs, etc.).
• Never operate the snow thrower without good
visibility or light. Always be sure of your footing and
keep a firm hold on the handles. Walk, never run.
• Muffler and engine become hot and can cause a
burn. Do not touch.
4. MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
• Check shear bolts, engine mounting bolts, etc., at
frequent intervals for proper tightness to be sure
equipment is in safe working condition.
• Nev er store the machine with fu el in the fuel tank
inside a building where ignition sources are
present, such as hot water and space heaters,
clothes dryers, and the like. Allow engine to cool
before storing in any enclosure.
• Always refer to operator's manual instructions for
important details if snow thrower is to be stored for
an extended period.
• Run machine a few minutes after throwing snow to
prevent freeze up of collector/imp el ler.
• Check clutch controls periodically to verify they
engage and disengage properly and readjust if
necessary. Refer to operator's manual for
adjustment instructions.

AUGER SHEAR BOLTS
The augers are secured to the auger shaft with two shear bolts
and hex lock nuts. If you hit a foreign obj ect or ice jam, the snow
thrower is designed so that the bolt s will shear. T wo replacement
shear bolts and nuts are provi ded fo r yo ur conve nie nc e. Sto re in a
safe place until needed
NOTE: Reference to right or left side of the snow
thrower is from behind the unit in the operating
position.
IMPORTANT: Check the adjustments as
instructed on page 6, and make any final
adjustments necessary before
operating your snow
thrower. Failure to fol low the instructio ns may cause
damage to the snow thrower.
1. Remove screws from the top sides and end s of
the shipping crate.
2. Set top, side, and end panels aside to avoid tire
punctures or personal injury.
3. Remove and discard plastic bag that covers unit.
4. Roll unit out of crate.
5. Remove the lower two plastic wing nuts, cupped
washers and carriage bolts fr om ea ch side of th e
upper handle. See Figure 3.
6. The chute direc tional cont rol may be attac hed to
the lower handle with cable ties for shipping
purposes, if so, cut the cable ties and remove
the chute d irectional control at this time.
7. Raise the upper handle assembly until it locks
over the lower handle. See Figure 3 and Figure 4.
8. Secure the upper handle and lower handle with
the two plastic wing nut s, cupped washers and
carriage bolts previously removed. See Figure 4.
9. Slide the shift rod conne ctor down over the end
of the lower shift rod. See Figure 5. Tap the
connector until it locks on the lower shift rod.
NOTE: If the connector is not properly assembled ,
the shift rod will pi vot a nd you will not be a ble to s hi ft

10. Remove the hairpin clip from the end of the
upper chute directional control. Slide the upper
chute directional control into the lower chute
directional control. Align the holes, and secure
with hairpin clip. See Figure 5.

11. If not already attached, slip the cables that run
from the handle pan el to the c hute i nto the cabl e
guide located on top of the engine. See Figure
6.
12. Unwrap the headlight wire which is attached to
the headlight, beneath the handle panel. Wind
the headlight wire around the right handle until
excess slack is removed.
13. Plug the wire from the headlight into the wire
lead coming from the right side of the engine,
underneath the fuel tank.
FINAL ADJUSTMENTS
Auger and T raction Control Clutch
Adjustment
To check the adjustm ent of either drive c lutch, push
forward on the clutch grip (depress the rubber
bumper). There should be slack in the cable.
Release the clutch grip. The cable should be
straight, but not tigh t. Make certain you can depress
the clutch grip against the handle completely.
If necessary, thread lock-nut up to increase tension
or down to decrease tension. See Figure 7.
Skid Shoe Adjustment (See Figure 8)
The space between the shave pl ate and the ground
can be adjuste d. F or clo se s now r emov al, pl ace skid
shoes in the low position. Use middle or high
position when area to be cleared is uneven. See
Figure 8.
Adjust skid shoes by loosening the six hex nuts an d
carriage bolts and moving skid shoes to desired
position. Make certain the entire bottom surface of
skid shoe is against the ground to avoid uneven
wear on the skid shoes. Tighten nuts and bolts
securely. The skid shoe s may be reversed for even
wear.

If unit does not engage prope rly into first gear, i t may
be necessary to remove the cotter pin and washer
from the shift rod and thread the ferrule one
counterclockwise turn.
TIRE PRESSURE (Pneumatic Tires)
The tires are over-inflated for shipping purposes.
Check tire pressure and reduce to 15 to 20 psi.
(Check sidewall of tire for manufacturer’s
recommendation)
NOTE: If the tire pressure is not e qual in both tires,
the unit may pull to one side or the other.

SHIFT LEVER
(See Figures 10 and 11)
The shift lever is located in the center of
the handle panel. The shift lever may be
moved into one of eight positions. Run
engine with throttle in the fast position.
Use the shift lever to determine ground
speed.
Forward—one of six speeds. Position
number one (1) is the slowest. Position
number six (6) is the fastest.
Reverse—two reverse (R) speeds. “R”
closest to the operato r (all the way back)
is the faster of the two.
AUGER CON TROL (See Figu re 10)
The auger control clutch is located on the left
handle. Squeeze the clutch grip to engage the
augers. Release to stop the snow throwing action.
(Traction control clutch must also be released.)
TRACTION CONTROL/AUGER CLUTCH
LOCK
(See Figure 10)
The traction control clutch is located on the right
handle. Squeeze the traction control clutch to
engage the wheel drive. Release to stop.
This same lev er also locks the auger clutc h so you
can turn the chute directional control without
interrupting the sn ow throwing process. If the auger
control clutch is engaged with the traction control
clutch engaged, the oper ator can release the auger
control clutch (on the le ft handle) and the augers wi ll
remain engaged. Releas e the traction control clutch
to stop both the augers and wheel drive (auger
control clutch must also be released).

TRIGGER LEVERS (See Figure 10)
The trigger levers are located on the underside of
the handles and are used to help you steer your
snow thrower. To turn rig ht, squeez e the r ight trig ger
lever and guide the snow thrower to the right. To
turn left, squeeze the left trigge r lever and guide the
snow thrower to the left. These controls should be
used while operating your snow thrower in open
areas until you beco me familiar with their operat ion.
Lift both triggers for eas y transport when the engin e
is not running.
CHUTE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL
(See Figure 10)
The chute directional control is located on left hand
side of the snow thrower.
To change the direction in which snow is thrown,
turn chute directional control as follows:
1. Crank clockwise to discharge to the left.
2. Crank counterclockwise to discharge to the right.
CHUTE TILT CONTROL (See Figure 10)
The distance snow is thrown can be adjusted by
adjusting the angle of the chute assembly . Move the
chute tilt control forward to decrease the distance,
toward the rear to increase.
HEADLIGHT (See Figure 10)
The headlight is on whenever the engine is running.
THROTTLE CONTROL (See Figure 12)
The throttle control is located on the engine. It
regulates the speed of the engine.
SAFETY IGNITION SWITCH (See Figure 12)
The ignition key must be inserted in the switch
before the unit will start. Remove the ignition key
when snow thrower is not in use.
FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE

SECTION 6: OPER ATIO N
NOTE: This unit has been shipped with oil in the
engine. Check oil before starting engine.
GAS AND OIL FILL-UP
Check oil level and add oil if necessa ry. Service the
engine with gasoline as instructed in the separate
engine manual packed with your snow thrower.
Read instructions carefully.
WARNING: Never fill fuel tank indoors,
with the engine running or whi le engine is
hot. Do not smoke when filling fuel tank.
TO START ENGINE
IMPORTANT: If unit shows any sign of motion
(drive or augers) with the clutch grips disengaged,
shut off engine immedi ately. Readjust as instructed
in the FINAL ADJUSTMENTS on page 6.
Electric Starter
WARNING: The electric starter is
equipped with a three-wire pow er cord and
plug, and is designed to operate on 120
volt AC household current. It must be
properly grounded at a ll tim es to avoi d the pos sibil ity
of electric shock which may be injurious to the
operator. Follow all ins tructions carefully. Determ ine
that your house wiring is a three wire grounded
system. Ask a licensed electrician if you are not
certain. If your house wiring system is not a threewire grounded system, do not use this electric starter
under any conditions. If your system is grounded
and a three hole receptacle is not available at the
point your starter will nor mally be used, one should
be installed by a licensed electrician.
When connecting the power cord, always connect
cord to starter on engine first, then plug the other
end into a three-hole grounded receptacle.
When disconnecting the power cord, always unplug
the end from the three-hole grounded receptacle
first.
1. Attach spark plug wire to spark plug. Make
certain the metal loop on the end of the spark
plug wire (inside the boot) is fastened securely
over the metal tip on t he spark plug. S ee Figure
13.
2. Make certain the auger and traction control
clutch levers are in the disengaged (released)
position.
3. Move throttle control up to FAS T position. Insert
ignition key into slot. Refer to Figure 12. Be
certain it snaps into place. Do not turn key.
4. Rotate choke knob to OFF position.

Plug the other end of power cord into a threehole, grounded 120 volt AC receptacle.
6. Push starter button to crank engine. Refer to
Figure 12. As you cr ank th e en gine, m ove ch oke
knob to FULL choke position.
7. When engine starts, rel ease starter button, and
move choke grad ually to OFF. If engine falters,
move choke immediately to FULL and then
gradually to OFF.
Recoil Starter
1. From the starting instructions for an Electric
starter, follow step 1 through step 3.
2. Rotate choke knob to F ULL choke pos ition (cold
engine start).
If engine is warm, place choke in OFF position
instead of FULL.
3. Push primer button two o r three times. Refer to
Figure 12.
If engine is warm, push primer button once only.
NOTE: Always cover vent hole in primer button
when pushing. Addi tional priming m ay be necessary
for first start if temperature is below 15°F.
4. Grasp starter hand le (re fer to Fig ur e 1 2) and pull
rope out slowly, until it pulls s lightly harder. Let
rope rewind slowly.
5. Pull starter handle rapidly. Do not allow handle
to snap back. Allow it to rewind slowly while
keeping a firm hold on the starter handle.
6. Repeat step 4 and step 5 until engine starts.
7. As engine warms up and begins to operate
evenly, rotate choke knob slowly to OFF
position. If engine falter s, return to FULL choke,
then slowly move to OFF position.

TO STOP ENGINE
1. Run engine for a few minutes before s topping to
help dry off any moisture on the engine.
2. To help prevent possible freeze-up of starter,
proceed as follows:
Optional Electri c Starter Connect power cord
to switch box on engine, then to 120 volt AC
receptacle. With the engi ne run ni ng, p us h st ar ter
button and spin the starter for several seconds.
The unusual sound made by spinning th e starter
will not harm engine or starter. Disconnect the
power cord from receptac le first, and then from
switch box.
Recoil Starter With engine running, pull starter
rope with a rapid, continuous full arm stroke
three or four times. Pulling the starter rope will
produce a loud clattering sound, which is not
harmful to the engine or starter.
3. To stop engine, remo ve the ignition key. Do not
turn key. Disconnect the spark plug wire from
the spark plug to prevent accidental starting
while equipment is unattended.
NOTE: Do not lose ignition key. Keep it in a safe
place. Engine will not start without the ignition key.
4. Wipe all snow and moisture from the carburetor
cover in the area of the control levers. Also,
move control levers back and forth several
times.
TIRE CHAINS
Tire chains should be used wh enever extra traction
is needed.
OPERATING TIPS
NOTE: Allow the engine to warm up for a few
minutes as the engine will not develop full power
until it reaches operating temperature.
WARNING: Temperature of muffler and
surrounding areas may exceed 150° F.
Avoid these areas.
1. For most efficient snow removal, remove snow
immediately after it falls.
2. Discharge snow downwind whenever possible.
The distance snow is thrown can be adjusted by
adjusting the angle of the chute assembly. The
sharper the angle, the s horter the dis tance sno w
is thrown. Slightly overlap each previous swath.
3. Set the skid shoes 1/4” below th e shave plate for
normal usage. T he skid shoes may be ad justed
upward for hard-packed snow. Adjust downw ard
when using on gravel or crushed rock.
4. Be certain to follow the precautio ns listed under
previous section, “To Stop Engine” to prevent
possible freeze up.
5. Clean the snow thrower thoroughly after each
use.
TO ENGAGE DRIVE
1. With the engine running near top speed, move
shift lever into one of the six FORWARD
positions or two REVERSE positions. Select a
speed appropriate for the snow conditions that
exist. Use the slower speeds until you are
familiar with the operation of the snow thrower.
2. Squeeze the left hand auger clutch grip and
engage it.
3. While the left hand auger clutc h grip is enga ged,
engage the right hand traction control clutch
grip.
4. Release the left hand auger clutch grip only. The
interlock mechanism should keep the left hand
clutch engaged until the right hand clutch is
released.
NOTE: NEVER move shift lever without first
releasing the traction control clutch.
TIRE PRESSURE
Pneumatic tires only Tires are over-inflated for
shipping purposes. Correct tire pressure is 10-15
psi. (Check sidewall of tire for manufacturer’s
recommendation.)
SECTION 7: ADJUSTMENTS
WARNING: NEVER attempt to clean
chute or make any adjustments while
engine is running.
REMOTE CHUTE ASSEMBLY ADJUSTMENT
The remote chute control cables have been preadjusted at the factor y. Move the remo te chute lever
on the control panel back and forward to adjust
angle of the chute assembly.
CHECK ADJUSTMENT OF CLUTCH CABL ES
Proper adjustment is achieved by sliding the spring
up the cable and thr eading the nut in or out. Correct
adjustment on cables is minimal slack but not tight.
AUGER BELT TENSION ADJUSTMENT
Periodic adjustment of the belt tension may be
required due to no rmal stretch a nd wear on t he belt.
Increase belt tens ion if the au gers hesitate while the
augers are engaged or decrease tension if the
augers continue to turn when the augers are
disengaged. Refer to Proper Adjustment on page 12.

SHIFT ROD ADJUSTMENT
To adjust the shift rod, remove the cotter pin which
secures the shift rod to the shift lever. For proper
adjustment, refer to FINA L ADJUS TMENTS on page
6.
SKID SHOE ADJUSTMENT
The space between the shave pl ate and the ground
can be adjusted. Refer to Skid Shoe Adjustment
(See Figure 8) on page 6.
SECTION 8: LUBRICATIO N
CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: If any adjustments are
made to the engine while the engine is
running (e.g. carburetor), keep clear of
all moving parts. Be careful of heated
surfaces and mufflers.
Minor carburetor adjustment may be required to
compensate for difference s in fuel, temperature,
altitude and load.
Refer to the separate engine manual packed with
your unit for carburetor adjustment information.
NOTE: Failure to comply with suggested
maintenance and lu brication spe cification s on pages
10 and 11 will void warranty.
WHEELS
Oil or spray lubricant in to bearings at wheel s at least
once a season. Remove wheels, clean and coat
axles with a multi-purpose automotive grease. See

CHAINS AND SHIFTING MECHANISM
Remove lower cover. Oil all chains, sprockets,
bearings, the hexagonal shaft, round shaft, and
shifting mechanism at least once a season. Use
engine oil or a spray lubricant. Avoid getting oil on
rubber friction wheel and aluminum drive plate.
CHUTE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WORM
The worm gear o n t he ch ute di r ectional crank shoul d
be greased with multi-purpose automotive grease.
IMPELLER PULLEY
The impeller pulley should be lubricated once a
season. Refer to explode d view of parts, found in the
back of the book, for correct location.
AUGER SHAFT
Remove auger bolts on auger shaft, see Figure 16.
Oil or spray lubricant inside shaft.
ENGINE
Refer to engine manual for engine lubrication
instructions.
HEX SHAFT
Lubricate the hex shaft with a good all - weat her mul tipurpose light grease at least once a season or a fter
every 25 hours of operation (available from an
authorized service dealer or an automotive store.)
See Figure 15.
If for any reason your transmission was
disassembled and the auger cable disconnected,
make sure when reassembling to pass the cable
above the hex shaft before reconnecting to the
auger actuator bracket.
WARNING: When following instruc-
tions in separate engine manual for
draining oil, be sure to protect frame to
avoid oil dripping onto transmission
parts.

SECTION 9: MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Disconnect the spark plug
wire and ground against the engine
before performing any repairs or
maintenance.
AUGERS
The augers are s ecured to the spiral sha ft with two
shear bolts and he x lock nuts. S ee Figure 16. If you
hit a foreign object or ice jam, the snow thrower is
designed so that the shear bolts will shear.
If the augers will not turn, check to see if the hex
bolts have sheared. Two replacement shear bolts
and hex lock nu ts ha ve bee n pro vided wi th the s now
thrower. When repla cing bolts, spray an oil lubricant
into shaft before inserting new bolts.

BELT REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT
WARNING: Remove the spark plug
wire from the spark plug and ground.
Drain gasoline from the fuel tank, or
place a piece of plastic film underneath
the gas cap to prevent gasoline from
leaking.
Auger Belt
To remove and replace eith er t he auger belt or the
drive belt, proceed with the following instructions:
1. Disconnect chute dire ctional control assembly at
the discharge chute by removing the cotter pin
and flat washer.
2. Remove the plastic belt cov er on the front of the
engine by removing three self-tapping screws
and flat washers. See Figure 17.

SHAVE PLATE AND SKID SHOES
The shave plate and skid shoes on the botto m of the
snow thrower are subject to wear. They should be
checked periodically and replaced when necessary.
NOTE: All models are equipped with reversible
skid shoes.
To remove skid shoes, remove the carriage bolts,
Belleville washers and hex nuts which attach them to
the snow thrower. Reassem ble new skid shoes with
the carriage bolts, Belleville washers (cupped side
goes against skid shoes) and hex nuts.
To remove shave plate, remove the carriage bolts,
Belleville washer s a nd he x nuts which attach it to th e
snow thrower housing. Reassemble new shave
plate, making su re heads o f the car riage b olts are t o
the inside of the housing. Tighten securely.

3. Remove the large should er b olt and washer on
the left hand side of the engine pulley with an
adjustable wrench. Refer to Figure 18.
NOTE: Reference to right h and or left han d side of
machine are observed from the operating position.
4. Remove the cotter pin and washer from the
ferrule in order to dis connect the auger idl er rod
from the brake bracket assembly as shown in
Figure 19.
5. Slip the auger control bel t (the front belt) off the
engine pulley. Refer to Figure 19.
6. Pull the brake bracket assembly towards the
cable guide roller and unhook the auger cable
“Z” fitting.
7. Remove the top screw s and lock was hers which
attach the auger hou sing assembly to th e frame
assembly. A 9/16” wrench is required. Refer to
Figure 20.

Proper Adjustment With the auger clutch lever in
the disengaged po sition the top surface of the new
belt should be e ven with the ou tside diameter o f the
pulley. To adjust, disconnect ferrule from the brake
bracket assembly and thread ferrule in (towards
idler) to increase tension on belt, out to decrease
tension.
NOTE: The brake puck must always be firmly
seated in the pulley groove when the auger clutch
lever is in the disengaged position.

8. Separate the auger housing from the frame
assembly by tilting the housing forward and
pulling up the handles.
9. Using a 1/2” wrench remo ve the hex screw and
belleville washer from the c entre of the pull ey on
the auger housing. Lift the brake bracket
assembly out of the pulley groove and remove
the pulley. See F igure 21. Be careful not to l ose
the key.
10. Remove and replace auger belt inside belt
keepers.
11. Reassemble pulley to auger housing with hex
screw and belleville washer (cupped is toward
the pulley). Be certain key is in place on shaft
and brake puck is seated in the pulley groove.

1. Unhook extension spring from the belt cover
plate. See Figure 18.
2. Remove drive belt from the engine pulley and
bottom drive pulley.
3. Replace belt and reassemble in reve rse ord er.
4. Reassemble the tw o halves of the unit hooking
the lower portion of the a uger housing over the
stationary shoulder bolts in the frame assembly.
5. Secure the two h alves with the two screws an d
lock washers
6. Attach the “Z” fitti ng of the cable into the brake
bracket assembly. See Figure 19.
7. Slip the auger control belt over engine pulley.
8. Insert ferrule on auger idler rod into bracket
assembly and secure with fla t washer and cotter
pin.
9. Reassemble the large shoulder bolt and lock
washer as shown in Figure 18.
10. Reassemble belt cover and chute directional
control.
11. Remove plastic film from gas cap.

Changing the Friction Wheel
The rubber on the friction wheel is subject to wear
and should be chec ked after 25 hours of operation,
and periodically thereafter. Replace the friction
wheel rubber if sign s of excessive wear or crac king
are found.
1. Drain the gasoline from the snow thrower, or
place a piece of plastic under the gas cap.
2. Tip the snow thrower up and forward, so that it
rests on the housing.
3. Remove six self-tappi ng screws from the frame
cover underneath the snow thrower.
4. Remove the wheels from the axle.
5. Using a 7/8” wrench hold the hex shaft and
remove the hex bolts and cupped washer and
bearing from left side of the frame. See Figure
15. Hold the friction wheel assembly, and slide
the hex shaft out of the unit toward the right
hand side.
6. Remove the six screws from the friction wheel
assembly (three from each side).
7. Reassemble new bonded friction wheel rubber
to the friction wheel assembly, tighten the six
screws in rotation and with equal force. See
Figure 22.

8. Position the friction wheel assembly up onto the
pin of the shift rod assembly and slid e the shaft
through the friction wheel. See Figure 23.
9. Slide the hex shaft into the hex I.D. of the
sprocket, the spacer and the left ball bearing and
secure with the bell washer and hex bolt.

SECTION 10: OFF-SEASON STORAGE
WARNING: Never store engine with fuel
in tank indoors or i n poorly venti lated areas
where fuel fumes may reach an open
flame, spark or pilo t light as on a furnace,
water heater, clothes dryer or other gas
appliance.
1. If unit is to be stored over 30 days, prepare
engine for storage as in structed in the separate
engine manual included with your unit.
2. Remove all dirt from exterior of engine and
equipment.

3. Follow lubrication recommendations on page 10.
4. Store in a clean, dry area.
NOTE: When storing any t ype of power equip ment
in an unventilated or metal storage shed, care
should be taken to rust proo f the equi pment. Usin g a
light oil or silicone, coat the equipment, especially
any chains, springs, bearings and cables.

MANUFACTURER’S LIMITED WARRANTY FOR:
TWO-YEAR RESIDENTIAL
ONE-YEAR COMMERCIAL
Proper maintenance of your Cub Cad et equi pm ent is the own er’s responsibility. Follow the instructions in your
operator’s manual for correct lubricants and maintenance schedule. Your Cub Cadet dealer carries a
complete line of quality lubricants and filters for your equipment’s engine, transmission, chassis and
attachments.
This limited warra nty for residential users, covers a ny defect in mater ials or workmansh ip in your Cub Cadet
equipment for two years from the dat e of purchase for the firs t user purchase r. We will replace or repa ir any
part or parts without charge through your authorized Cub Cadet dealer.
Batteries have a one-year prorated limited warranty with 100% replacement during the first three months.
V-belts for either the traction drive or any attachments are covered for one year only.
Cub Cadet equipment used commercially is warranted for one year only.
(Commercial use is defined as either having hired operators or used for income producing purposes.)
Items not covered
The warranty doe s not c over rout ine ma intena nce i tems suc h as lubri cants, f ilt ers (o il, fue l, air a nd h ydraul ic),
cleaning, tune-ups, br ake and/or clutch inspection, a djustments made as part of normal maintenance, blade
sharpening, set-up, a bus e, a ccid ent s and normal wear. It doe s n ot c ov er in ci den tal cos ts s uch as tr ansporting
your equipment to and from the dealer, telephone charges or renting a product temporarily to replace a
warranted product.
There is no other express warranty.
