Introduction
The PCLTA module works with CTI's MCN
Remote Comparator Display for Windows
software to turn a PC into a Remote
Comparator Display position. The PCLTA is a
plug-in network interface board for the PC’s
PCI bus, and connects the PC to the
Monitoring and Control Network (MCN™)
System.
PCLTA Modules are available in speeds of
78Kb (standard MCN System) or 1.25 Mb
(larger custom engineered systems):

The system will operate on the same PC along
with other programs, such as Radio Dispatch
Console and 911 Software.
Multiple Display Positions
CTI's MCN Control System is a modular
system, which uses distributed processors to
monitor and control points remotely. Multiple
PCs can be connected to a MCN network. Full
parallel status and control on all PCs is
supported.
Operation at Remote Locations
Network Extender (EXB) Modules are
available to connect PCs with PCLTA cards to

The MCN Remote Comparator Display System
extends the comparator lights and switches
over the MCN network to remote PCs.
The MCN Remote Comparator Display
features real-time receiver status monitoring.
The Force-Vote and Disable are controlled
from the PC. The receiver names and screen
positions are user- configurable.
Receiver errors can be logged to the screen or
the disk to provide an audit trail of bad or
intermittent receivers.

The PCLTA modules and MCNRCD for
Windows software support Windows 2000 or
XP operating systems.

Typical MCN Remote Comparator Display System
System Operation
The system diagram on the next page shows PCs connected to
the network via PCLTA Modules. The local PC connects
directly to the network. The remote PC connects via a pair of
EXB Network Extender Modules.
The CIB Comparator Interface Modules mount near the
comparator, and control and monitor up to 8 receivers each.
They pass the Vote, Receive, Disable, and Fail indications
from the voting comparator to the MCN network. The receiver
data is passed over the network to the PCs.
The Force Vote and Disable control commands are sent from
the PC through the MCN network to the CIB modules.
The CIB modules accept Force Vote and Disable commands
from the network and generate the Force Vote and Disable
outputs to the comparator.
Dial-Up Applications
Since the PCLTA card has a direct network connection, it does
not support dial-up control of a remote system. Dial-up
monitoring and control can be done with the MCN Remote
Comparator Display software, a HIB module, and a modem.
HIB modules and PCLTA modules can be mixed in one
system.
Alternate Network Interfaces
CTI Products has other MCN network interfaces for various
applications:
• HIB-232 Network interface for local connection using
RS-232, or remote connection using dial-up or leasedline analog phone lines.
• HIB-IP Remote Network Interface module that
connects over an IP network.
