Introduction
DocShell is a document scanning utility that process documents and export their data into
pre-installed applications. DocShell implement a unique, document specific, algorithm
extract and parse the information from the document. The image and the extracted
information are than exported to the proper application by the user. All this operation is
done simply by dragging the scanned image into the application icon that needs to store
the document image and information.
DocShell process the following document types:
• General A4 documents
• Business cards
• Passports
• Checks
DocShell scan documents and process them according to the scanned document type.
DocShell than gather the information from the document and exported to the destination
application according to the application characteristics. For example, when scanning
business card and exporting it to MS-Outlook will be analyze the business card, extract
the proper date (name, address, telephone number, etc.) and generate a new contact in
outlook with this information. Exporting the same business card to MS-Paint will simply
open MS-Paint with the image loaded in it for edit.
DocShell document processing capability
DocShell capability to process scanned documents depends on the license type and
attached scanner type:
DocShell light with ScanShell2000N scanner model attached can process the following
documents:
- Photo
- Generic A4 documents with no OCR processing
DocShell light\Standard with scanner model ScanShell2000N\2000\3000 attached
caprices the following documents:
- Photo
- Generic A4 documents with OCR processing
- Passports (when scanner model ScanShelll3000 is connected)

Image source panel
The Image source can be one of two sources:
Folder on the folder tree – The folder tree set the current folder location that is shown
on the Desktop panel. This location is also the destination location to store scanned
images.
Scanner – The scanner tab show the current scanner setting. It controls the scanner’s
resolution, color scheme and the saved image type. DocShell supports up to seven image
types (BMP, JPG, PNG, PCX, TGA, TIF and PSD).

Desktop Panel
The Desktop panel display all the images in the current folder. DocShell display all the
images with one of the extensions BMP, JPG, PNG, PCX, TGA, TIF and PSD. You may
image(s) as follows:
Single image selection: Clicking on the image with mouse mark the image as selected by
highlighting it with a red frame.
Multiple image selection: Clicking on several images while the CTRL key is pressed OR
selecting an area with the mouse mark several images. The images are marked with a red
frame and a number according to the selection order.

Application export panel
The Application export panel concentrates links to applications installed on the PC.
DocShell export the selected image(s) by dragging the selected images to the desired
application. This starts the image processing automatically (according to the attaché
scanner type).
