P.I.P.-FXT
Welcome
Thank you for purchasing the Crown P.I.P.-FXT
accessory. PIP™ modules are designed to quickly
install in the rear panel of many Crown amplifi ers.
PIP stands for “Plug-In Panel”. Their versatile features expand the capabilities of your amplifi er and
enable you to customize it for your particular needs.
FXT means Female XLRs and Transformers to signify
that the unit uses female XLR connectors for input
and provides balanced-to-balanced transformer isolation from the source to the amplifi er.
Installation
1. Turn down the level controls (full counterclockwise), turn off the amplifi er and unplug it from the
AC power source.
2. Remove the existing PIP or panel (two screws) and
pull straight out with fi rm pressure.
3. Align the edge of the P.I.P.-FXT circuit board in the
Features
• 1:1 transformer isolation of pins 2 (+) and 3 (–)
of the XLR inputs gives excellent isolation for
balanced input signals.
• Pin 1 (shield) of each XLR inputs is isolated from
the signal ground of the amplifi er with a 100 ohm
resistor.
• The center taps of the transformers can be easily
accessed via pads P1–P4 on the circuit board.
(However, this may degrade the common mode
rejection since center tap symmetry is not guaranteed).
PIP card rails and fi rmly push the unit in until it
is seated inside.
4. Secure the P.I.P.-FXT with the two thumbscrews
provided.
5. Connect input wiring according the instructions in
the Operation Manual of your amplifi er.
6. Plug in the amplifi er and turn it on. Adjust its level
controls to a desired setting.
