BEFORE USE USING THE RADIO
Mains Connection
1 Check that the voltage indicated on the rating
plate on the back of your System corresponds to the voltage of your mains electricity supply.
2 Insert the Mains AC Lead into the AC socket
which is located at the back of the System.
3 Turn the Volume Control Dial on the System to
MIN. before inserting the mains plug into a wall socket and adjust the volume to suit.
Battery Operation
1 Ensure that the mains lead is unplugged from
any wall socket.
2 Remove the battery compartment cover by
pressing down on the 2 retaining clips.
3 Insert six 1.5 volt batteries (C size or UM-2) so
that the ‘+’ and ‘-’ marks on the batteries match the ‘+’ and ‘-’ marks inside the unit.
4 Replace the battery cover making sure that the
latches have snapped back into place.

CAUTION: To protect your System, always observe
the following precautions:
• Do not mix new batteries with old or used batteries.
• Only use batteries of the same type and brand.
• On you do not intend using your System for a long time, or you are operating from the mains supply, remove the batteries.
• When your batteries have finished, you must dispose of them in a safe manner which complies with applicable laws.
Headphone Socket
(Headphones are not included)
• Insert the jack plug of your headphones into the socket on the top of the System marked PHONES. Note: if your headphone jack does not fit the Headphone Socket you may need to use an adaptor
• Turn the Volume Control Dial on the System to MIN. before using the headphones, then adjust the volume to suit
CAUTION: You should not expose yourself to
continuous play at loud volume levels while using your headphones. You may damage your hearing. If you experience ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or stop using your System. If symptoms persist, see your doctor.
Radio Operation
1 Turn the Volume Control Dial to MIN, the sound
will be totally muted.
2 Switch the Function button to Radio. 3 Then press the Band selector button under the
wavelength screen to select either AM, FM or FM stereo.
4 Adjust the volume to
suit.
5 Select a radio station
using the TUNING dial. Turn the Tuning dial to find a station, using the wavelength screen to help you locate the right frequency. When you have tuned into a stereo station in the FM Stereo mode, the red FM STEREO light will come on.
6 When you have
finished listening to the Radio, move the Function switch to Tape and the indicator light will go out.
