The National Electrical Code® defi nes
a fi re alarm circuit as “the portion
of the wiring system between the
load side of the overcurrent device
or the power-limited supply and the
connected equipment of all circuits
powered and controlled by the fi re
alarm system.” Additionally, the
NEC requires that all fi re alarm
circuits be identifi ed at terminal and
junction locations in a manner that
will prevent unintentional interference
with the signaling circuit during
testing and servicing.

Alarm Boxes help meet those
installation requirements and are
available in the most popular 4"
and 4 11/16" square boxes along
with covers and box extensions.
A 4" octagon box is also available.
The red paint allows inspectors to
quickly identify fi re alarm circuit outlet
boxes. The boxes are UL Listed
with a two-hour fi re rating and are
available in a variety of confi gurations
to meet varied applications.
