Leakage Tester

Description

The CALT 9 leakage tester has been d eveloped to measure leak age rates and give a detaile d print­out of the test param eters and results. It is particularly suita ble for measuring and calculating the
leakage rate of double O-ring seal closure arrangements of transport packages for radioactive
materials.

The CALT 9 is a portabl e instrument supplied in a r obust case. The instrum ent is complete with al l
fittings includi ng a ref erenc e volum e to m eas ure inter space volum es and a com prehens ive i nstruc tion
manual.

Operation

The CALT 9 has been des igned for ease of operation. The internal com puter displays a series of
screen prompts which lead the operator through the leakage testing proced ure in a manner that is
easy to understand and follow.

All calculations are made by the c omputer. Full tes t details and results are pr inted out autom atically
at the end of the test (see next page).

The CALT 9 uses the pressure drop or pressure rise method to provide a quantitative result of
leakage rate. The softwar e automatically corrects for the change in d ynamic viscosity of air whic h
varies with temperature, and also converts the measured leakage rate into Standardised Leakage
Rate (SLR).

Variations

The instrument has been designed to be flexible to meet user requirements. Bespoke software
and/or hardware can be supplied to meet customer-specific requirements.
