Rack Mounting Safety Precautions
• Elevated Operating Ambient Temperature: If installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, the operating ambient temperature of the rack environ ment may be g reater than room am bient temperatu re. Therefore, co nsider ation should be give n to installing the e quipmen t in an environment compatible with the maximum ambient temperature (Tma) specied by the manufacturer.
• Reduce d Airow: Insta llation of t he equipment in a ra ck should b e such that the amoun t of airow requir ed for safe o peration of the eq uipment i s not compromised.
• Mechan ical Loading: Mou nting of the e quipment in the rac k should be such that a h azardous con dition is n ot achieve d due to uneve n mechan ical loading.
• Circuit Overloading: Consideration should be given to the connection of the equipment to the supply circuit and the effect that overloading of the circuits might have on overcurrent protection and supply wiring. Appropriate consideration of equipment nameplate ratings should be used when addressing this concern.
• Reliable Earthing: Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than dire ct connection s to the bran ch circui t (e.g., use of p ower strip s).
