Inspect the device, life line, hook and
anchorage for signs of wear, deforma­tion, damage or corrosion.
Ensure hook swivels and twist gate
operate and close correctly.

Installation, Use, Compatibility & Warnings!

Installation

The Device must not be installed where the following hazards may en­danger the user or prevent the efficient operation of the system. The
area below the device must be free of obstruction that will prevent the
free pay-out of rope or may obstruct the movement of the user.
The environment must be free of heavy solvents or acids that will de
grade the device, life line or the hook.
The device must be anchored to a point which will hold a load of 15kN
and that is fixed preventing the device anchorage from moving whilst
in use.
If there is any chance of the line becoming entangled in lifting equipme
nt,passing vehicles or structure then do not install. Install the device so
that it is away from the edge, so avoiding swing hazards, the potential
user must not have to lean out to reach the device or hook and endang
ering themselves with a fall hazard.
Never install where there is a possibility of electric shock hazards.
When installing ensure that you are not subjecting your self to potential
fall hazards, wear a full body harness and shock absorbing lanyard an
choring your self whilst installing.

Use

(For horizontal use see below)
Installed from an over head anchorage the device affords a user fall pro
tection within a cone of 45 degrees beneath (22.5 degrees each side
of the vertical).

Fall Protection

Check the hook load indicator is not deployed, follow the inspection
routine laid down in this manual.
The device will arrest a fall within 2.0 meters. Do not use the device at
full line pay out or in situations where there is less than 3.0 metres of
ground clearance below the feet of the user. Connect only to the Rear
Dorsal “D” ring of a fall Protection Full Body Harness. Ensure that the
hook of the device is secure in the Harness “D” Ring and that the gate
of the hook is locked.
Never work above the level of the device or tie off the life line to prevent
it retracting. The line between the user and the device must be taught at
all times. Never run or jump whilst attached to the unit, walking at a mo
derate pace will ensure that the device does not sense a fall. Never work
outside of a 45 degree cone created from the device through vertical, if
a fall were to occur the device would lock and the user would swing like
a pendulum and may sustain injury from this hazard.

Horizontal use

The devices have been tested for horizontal use in accordance
with CNB/P/11.060 however loading over an edge shall be avoided.
The retractable type fall arrester was tested also for horizontal use and
a drop over a Type A edge has been successfully tested. Type A edge
definition: A steel edge with a radius of r = 0,5 mm and without burrs
was used for the test. Due to this test, the equipment may be used over
similar edges, as can be found e.g. at rolled steel profiles, at wooden
beams or at a clad, rounded roof parapet. However, the following shall
be considered when the equipment is used in a horizontal or transverse
arrangement and a risk of a fall from a height over an edge exists:

1. If the risk assessment carried out before the start of the work shows
that the edge is very “cutting” and / or “free of burrs” (such as in case of
an unclad roof parapet, a rusty steel girder or a concrete edge):

- relevant measures shall be taken before the start of the work to pre
vent a drop over the edge or, - before the start of work, an edge protec­tion shall be mounted or - the manufacturer shall be contacted.

2. The anchor point may only be situated at the same height as the
edge at which a fall might occur or above the edge.

3. The required clearance below the edge at which a fall might occur
shall be defined.

4. To attenuate a drop ending in a pendulum movement, the working
area or lateral movements to both sides of the centre axis shall be li
mited to a maximum of 1.50 m. In other cases, no individual anchor
points, but, e.g., type C or type D anchor devices in accordance with
EN 795:2012 shall be used.

*Note on do not anchor the device below the users foot level.
*Note on whether the devices are compatible or not with EN795
Class C anchor device, and that deflection needs to be taken into
account when determining clearance required.
*Note on risks of injury when a user collides with parts of building
or construction during a fall over an edge.

­*Note on that special rescue measures shall be defined and trained

in the event of a fall over an edge.
Horizontal use, Ground section:
There must be sufficient ground clearance below the feet of the user
to safely arrest the fall. The required ground clearance is different de

­pending on the mode of use. Please see the below diagram for the

minimum ground clearances required.

­*Note on to clarify, its 3m minimum ground clearance when working
vertically, and 4.5m minimum ground clearance when the block is
mounted in foot level. Including 1m safety margin.
Warnings: Max user weight when used with the device fitted above
the user is 140kg. Max user weight when used with the device fitted
between head height and foot level is 100kg. Do Not exceed these
maximum weights including tools and attached equipment.

Compatibility

The W2H, W2HT, W3.5H, C10H-C15H are suitable only as Fall arrest
blocks if they are attached to an anchorage of 15kN by use of a con
nector conforming to EN362, and used with a Full Body Harness which
conforms to EN361, such as the Cresto range.

Warnings

Read and understand manufacturers instructions before inspection, in­stallation or use of this product.
Never use this product if you weigh more than 140kg. Only use appro
ved equipment with this product.
If there are any points in this manual that you are unsure of seek a com
petent, trained person to advise you before using. Seek medical advice
from a doctor before using this product if; you have sustained a spinal
injury, suffer from a neck or back complaint, or you are taking prescrip
tion medication. Never use if you are under the influence of alcohol or
recreational drugs.
Extra care should be taken if welding whilst using this product, protect
the Life Line from splatter and heat at all times.Never use this system
unattended.
Never use this system unless you are supervised by a trained and com
petent person.
Ensure the lifeline is free to extend and retract from the device, and
that the brake engages with a sharp jerk, before attempting to use as
a fall arresting unit.

Rescue Planning

Before use, and when using the W2H, W2HT, W3.5H, C10H-C15H Fall
Arrest Blocks, users and supervisors should always make suitable pro
visions for rescue.
A full risk assessment should be carried out to determine the most
effective, safe and quickest form of rescue.

Introduction to
Fall Arrest Blocks & Scope off Use

The

W2H, W2HT, W3.5H, C10H-C15H
height. They have a unique sealed braking sytem that ensures the device pays out freely but
locks on rapidly to minimise free fall and impact loads on both the anchorage and the body.

If the unit has been deployed, the hook load indicator will show on the swivel hook (W3.5H,
and C10H-C15H only). The W2H and W2HT has a load indicator built into the top swivel that will
display a red band when activated. If this is visible DO NOT USE.

Storage, Issue & Inspection

Storage

Storage in a central protected location allows assurance of inspection on issue and return.

The device should be stored in a clean dry place where it can be protected from damage by chemical attack and sharp
objects . It should be stored with its instructions and record card at all times.

Return the device back to it’s original box or other suitable container for storage & transportation.
After use return to the store, Never leave the device lying around site.

Issue

This and associated equipment must be visually inspected by a competent person when initially delivered to site, there after the
product must be inspected before and after use. A record card is printed in section 5.0 of this manual and should be updated
after each routine inspection. Follow the points laid down in the section headed “Inspection” without deviation.
The supervisor must ensure that the equipment is being used correctly by a trained and/or otherwise competent person who is
aware of its safe use and inspection. Additionally the supervisor must ensure that there are suitable and accessible anchorages
in the working environment to allow safe anchorage of the device.

Inspection

Inspect the device, life line, hook and anchorage for signs of wear, deformation, damage or corrosion.

Webbing (Dyneema) - Ensure that the webbing is free from cuts, abrasion & wear marks.
Wire Rope (Galvanised Steel or Stainless Steel)- Ensure that the wire rope is free from cuts, abrasion & kinks.
Fibre Rope (Dyneema)- Ensure that the fibre rope is free from cuts, abrasion & wear marks.

Ensure hook swivels and twist gate operate and close correctly.
Ensure hook load indicator is not deployed.
Pull line sharply to engage brakes and ensure device locks before each and every use.
Pull out line to ensure that it pays out and recoils smoothly.
All housing screws must be secure.
Check the user instructions are clear & legible.
If the webbing or fibre rope becomes wet in use, ensure webbing or fibre rope is extended & left to dry naturally.
To clean the housing, webbing or fibre rope, a mild detergent can be used with warm or cold water. The webbing or fibre
rope must be extended from the device & left to dry naturally.

Ensure that device certification is current before use, the device must have been serviced and inspected within the
last 12 months and 6 months if used in corrosive or off-shore environments.

If for any reason the inspection of this device shows signs for concern or doubt then the device must be quarantined and
removed from service immediately. Advice should be sought from the supervisor and if still concerned the device must be
sent to the supplier, an approved service agent or the manufacturer for service and re-calibration.

The device has an expected useable lifetime of up to five years subject to inspection, providing it has been serviced &
maintained to Crestos recommendations.

This device must only be serviced by a trained and competent individual,

Quality, Legislation & Exclusions

4.1 Quality

All Cresto products are manufactured under ISO 9001:2008 and to the highest standards. The scope of use within the certifi­cation held allows Crestos to design, manufacture and test Personal Protection Equipment.
Horizontal tensile test machine, abrasion tester and dynamic drop test rig are just part of the full range of test facilities used to
ensure ultimate safety of our product range.

All Cresto devices must only be installed by Cresto personnel or a trained operator. Strict training is given and written exams
are completed before full certification can be given to operators. (EC type examination for Directive
89/686/EEC by SGS United Kingdom Limited. Weston-super-Mare, BS22 6WA. UK. (Notified Body No. 0120.)

4.2 Legislation and Standards

The W2H, W2HT, W3.5H, C10-18 have been designed to meet the requirements of EN 360: 2002.

For clarification on any certification issues contact Cresto or SGS UK.

4.3 Exclusions

Cresto holds global product liability cover for your safety. Cresto will NOT however be responsible for:

a) Users who are out of the scope of any written manuals of training given.
b) Any device that has NOT been inspected under the current legislation and manufacturers guidelines.
c) Devices that have been damaged.
d) When the maximum weight in Kg has been exceeded.
e) Devices that have NO serial number markings, and the manufacturers name, Cresto AB, is not present.

Förklaring/betydelse – symboler

Visuell inspektion av enheten, lina,
krokar och förankring efter slitage,
deformationer, skada eller rost. Kont­rollera att svivlar, krokar fungerar och
låser korrekt. Kontrollera att fallindika­tor/eller falldämpare ej har utlöst.

Kontrollera att linan drar ut och att
blocket låser som det ska. Gör detta
innan varje användning.

risk vid förankring. Kontrollera vassa
kanter och använd kantskydd om
detta bedöms behövas.

Installation, Användning, Kompatibilitet & Varning!

Installation

Blocket får ej installeras där omgivande faror kan påverka
produktens funktion. Ytan under blocket måste vara fri onö
diga hinder som kan påverka linans utdragning eller använ­darens rörlighet. Miljön ska vara fri från ämnen och syror som
kan ska blocket, linan eller kopplingskrokarna. Blocket ska
vara förankrat i en fast fixerad förankringspunkt som uppfyll
ler gällande krav i EN795. Om det finns en risk att linans dras
ut i ett område som kan påverkas av rörliga delar, ex fordon/
kranar, så ska det ej installeras. Installera blocket för att und
vika vassa kanter, pendeleffekt och så att användaren kan ar­beta utan att utsätta sig själv för onödiga fallrisker. Använd
inte blocket i miljöer där det finns risk för elektriska chocker.
Utsätt inte dig själv för fallrisk när blocket ska installeras och
använd helsele och kopplingslina med falldämpare.

Användning

(För horisontell användning, se kommande stycke)
När blocket används förankrat over användaren tillåts en max
imal arbetsvinkel på 45 grader (22.5 grader åt båda hållen).

Fallskydd

Kontrollera att fallindikator eller falldämpare ej är utlöst och följ
inspektionsrutinen som beskrivs i denna manual.
Blocket kommer fånga upp ett fall inom 2 meter. Undvik att an
vända blocket med linan fullt utdragen eller i arbeten med mindre
är 3 meter fallhöjd under användaren. Koppla blockets kopplings
krok till din helseles godkända kopplingspunkter för fallskydd. Sä­kerhetsställ att kroken är kopplad och stängd på ett korrekt sätt.
Arbeta aldrig på en nivå över det förankrade blocket. Påverka
aldrig linan så att den ej kan dras in av sin automatik. Linan mås
te hela tiden vara indragen/spänd mellan block och användare.
Undvik att hoppa med blocket inkopplat. Normala rörelser, gång,
kommer ej utlösa bromsen i blocket. Undvik att använda blocket
utanför specificerad arbetesvinkel (45 grader), för användarens
säkerhet, för att säkerhetsställa att blocket bromsning fungerar
vid ett fall samt för att undvika pendeleffekt.

Horisontell användning

Dessa fallskyddblock har testats och godkänts för horisontell
användning enligt CNB/P/11.060. Trots detta ska användning av
livlinor över vassa kanter alltid försöka undvikas. Dessa block är
testade och godkända för fall över en typ A-kant. En typ A-kant är
i testet en stålbalk med en radie på 0.5 mm, utan vassa spår. Med
hjälp av detta testet kan vi specificera vi att blocken kan användas
över liknande kanter, ex stål-, trä-balkar eller rundade takkanter.
Däremot ska följande punkter beaktas när det finns risk för fall
över kant: 1. Om riskanalysen innan arbetet påbörjar påvisar att
kanterna ser vassare ut än vad blocken är specificerade för ska ett
extra kantskydd användas eller tillverkaren kontaktas. 2. Om det
finns risk för fall över kant, får förankringspunkten för blocket får
inte vara lägre än i nivå med fot på användaren. 3. Fallhöjden, från
förankringsnivå till mark måste beräknas och beaktas innan arbe
te påbörjas. 4. Pendelrisk vid fall ska alltid försöka att förebyggas
och max sträcka I vinkel ut från blocket och centerpunkt är 1.50
meter. Förankringspunkten ska alltid vara en godkänd punkt eller
produkt motsvarande kraven i EN795:2012 (typ C eller D).
*Observera: förankra aldrig blocket under fot nivå.
*Observera: säkerhetsställ att produkterna är kompatibla med
EN795 klass C och att deflektion inte ska tas med i beräkning av
total falldistans.

*Observera: säkerhetsställ att det inte finns några farliga föremål
som personen kan kollidera med under ett fall över en kant.
*Observera: att det alltid ska ha gjorts en riskanalys och finnas en

­räddningsplan vid arbete på hög höjd.

Horisontell användning, falldistans:
Det måste finnas tillräcklig höjd under användarens fötter för att
säkerhetsställa att falldistansen inte är för kort och farlig. Denna

­fallhöjd är olika beroende på och i vilken nivå fallskyddsblocket

förankras. Se bild här under för att visa minsta nödvändiga fallhöjd.

*Observera: För att tydliggöra; det behövs 3 meter sträcka till
mark om blocket är kopplat vertikalt och över användaren, samt

4.5 meter när sträcka till mark när blocket är kopplat i fot-nivå.
Dessa båda sträckor inkluderar 1 meter säkerhetsmarginal.
Varning: Max användarvikt när blocket är förankrat över använda

­ren är 140 kg och 100 kg när det är förankrat i fot-nivå (horisontell

användning). Överskrid inte dessa gränser. Vikterna inkluderar

­utrustning och verktyg.

Kompatibilitet

-

Cresto W2H, W2HT, W3.5H, C10H-C15H enbart godkända att använ-
da om de förankras i en godkänd förankringspunkt enligt gällande
EN795 och med godkända karbiners enligt EN362. Blocken ska
användas tillsammans med godkänd helsele enligt EN361.

Varning

Läs och förstå tillverkarens bruksanvisning innan installation,
användning och inspektion av denna produkt.
Använd inte denna produkt om du väger över 140 kg.
Använd enbart godkända kompatibla produkter tillsammans
med detta fallskyddsblock. Om du är osäker på innehållet i
denna bruksanvisning, kontakta tillverkaren eller auktoriserade
kompetenta personer. Om du har besvär eller bestående skad
or, eller tar påverkande medicin, så bör läkare eller företags­vård konsulteras innan arbete i fallriskmiljö. Arbeta aldrig med
denna produkt, eller i fallriskmiljö, om du är under påverkan av
alkohol. Extra hänsyn ska tas och linan ska skyddas vid arbete
i extrema miljöer, exempelvis vid svetsning. Använd aldrig den
na produkt om du inte har kunskap om produktens funktion.
Använd aldrig produkten om du inte har fått en relevant utbild
ning av utbildare eller kompetent person.
Innan användning, försäkra dig om att linan har fritt utrymme

för ut- och indragning, och att bromsen låser som den ska.

Räddningsplan

Innan fallskyddsblocken som omfattas av denna bruksanvis­ning används, ska alltid användaren eller arbetsledare ha en
räddningsplan. Denna räddningsplan baseras på en genomförd
riskanalys och visar den mest effektiva och lämpliga lösnigen.

Introduktion till
Fallskyddsblock & Specifikation

Crestos fallskyddsblock

W2H, W2HT, W3.5H, C10H-C15H

har utvecklats för din säkerhet och
för arbete på hög höjd. Blocken har ett unikt förseglat bromssystem som säkerhetsställer smi­dig ut- och indragning samtidigt som det snabbt låser vid fall för att minska påverkan/kraft på
användaren och förankringspunkten.

Om enheten har använts under ett fall kommer kopplingskrokens fallindikator visa detta ( En­bart W3.5H och C10H-C15H). W2H, W2HT har en inbyggd fallindikator i blockets topp-svivel
som visar röd färg när den varit aktiverad. Om fallindikatorn eller falldämparen är aktiverad,
ANVÄND EJ.

Förvaring, kontroll & inspektion

Förvaring

Förvaring på säker och skyddad plats ger kontroll över produkten status och rekommenderas.
Blocket ska förvaras på en ren, torr plats utan kontakt med kemikalier eller vassa delar, med tillgång till bruksanvisning och
inspektionsprotokoll. Förvara och transportera gärna blocket i lämplig kartong eller väska.

Kontroll

Denna och tillhörande utrustning måste kontrolleras okulärt och funktionellt innan och efter användning. Ett inspektionskort
finns under kapitel 5 i denna manual och ska användas vid varje inspektion. Följ konsekvent punkterna och checklistan under
nästa kapitel ”Inspektion”. Arbetsgivaren måste säkerhetsställa att produkten används korrekt, att användaren har adekvat
utbildning och att årlig kontroll görs av en kompetent person. Arbetsgivaren måste också säkerhetsställa att det finns lämpliga
och godkända förankringspunkter för säker förankring av block och person.

Inspektion

Inspektera blocket, linan, krokar och förankring efter tecken på slitage, deformation, skada eller rost.
Vävband (Dyneema) – Säkerhetsställ att vävbandet är helt fritt från skärskador, utslitning eller annan slitage.
Kontrollera så att svivel och krokar/karbiners öppnar och stänger på ett säkert sätt.
Kontrollera så att fallindikatorn inte är utlöst.
Kontrollera så att linan går in och ut på ett korrekt sätt.
Kontrollera så att fallskyddblocket låser som det ska.
Kontrollera att det inte finns några lösa skruvar.
Kontrollera att bruksanvisning finns att tillgå och är i dugligt skick.
Om vävbandet blivit blött under användning, säkerhetsställ att det får torka på ett naturligt sätt.
För att göra rent hus, vävband eller rep rekommenderas en mild tvål med varmt eller kallt vatten. Vävbandet ska dras ut från
blocket för att torka på ett naturligt sätt.

Säkerhetsställ att fallskyddsblocket är helt ok innan användning och att det har besiktats av en kompetent person en gång
per år, eller var 6:e månad, om kunden kräver det som t.ex. inom off-shore.

Om det av någon anledning under inspektionen uppstår tvivel om produktens duglighet och eller funktion måste den tas ur
bruk omedelbart. Produkten behöver då kontrolleras av en Kompetent Person och eventuellt sändas för service hos auktorise
rad service-partner eller till Cresto. Fallskyddsblocket har en förväntad och genomsnittlig livstid på 5 år beroende på använd­ning, och om service och underhåll genomförts enligt Crestos rekommendationer.

Årlig kontroll och service för enbart utföras av en utbildad och behörig Kompetent Person.
Försök aldrig på något sätt att på egen hand göra reparationer eller ändringar som påverkar
blockets funktion.

Kvalitet, Föreskrifter & Undantag

4.1 Kvalitet

Cresto utvecklar och tillverkar personlig fallskyddsutrustning. Cresto AB är ISO9001:2008 certifierade och våra produkter till­verkas enligt gällande standarder och kraven i europadirektivet 89/686/EEC. Löpande tester genomförs för att säkerhetsställa
högsta möjliga säkerhet för våra användare. Cresto arbetar även med rådgivning och utbildning.

Vi rekommenderar att alla personer som arbetar i fallriskmiljö har en adekvat utbildning för att genomföra sitt arnbete säkert.
Fallskyddsblocken som beskrivs i denna bruksanvisning är certifierade av SGS United Kingdom Limited. Weston-super-Mare,
BS22 6WA. UK. (Notified Body No. 0120.)

4.2 Föreskrifter, lagstiftning och standard

The W2H, W2HT, W3.5H, C10-18 har utvecklats och tillverkats enligt EN360:2002.
För eventuella frågor kring detta eller annat kontakta Cresto eller SGS UK.

4.3 Undantag

Cresto innehar produkt och ansvarsförsäkring för din säkerhet. Cresto kan INTE hållas ansvarig för:

a) Användning utanför innehållet i denna bruksanvisning.
b) Produkter som EJ har kontrollerats eller besiktats enligt gällande föreskrifter eller tillverkarens riktlinjer.
c) Produkter som är skadade eller förstörda
d) När maxvikten i kg har överskridits
e) Produkter som saknar spårbarhet eller där tillverkarens namn, Cresto AB, ej är synbart.

Forklaring/betydning – symboler

Visuell inspeksjon av enheten, line,
kroker og forankring etter slitasje,
deformasjoner, skade eller rust. Kon­troller at svivler og kroker fungerer
og låser som de skal. Kontroller at
fallindikator/eller falldemper ikke er
utløst.

Kontroller at linen drar ut og at
blokken låser som den skal. Gjør dette
hver gang den skal brukes.

Maks. brukervekt 140 kg når blokken
er forankret over brukeren.

Koble blokken til helselens koblings­punkter for fallsikring.
Forviss deg om at blokkens kara­binkroker kobler og låser seg riktig i
selens D-ring (koblingspunkt).

Fallsikringsblokken fanger opp et fall
innen 2 meter. Ikke bruk blokken med
linen helt ute eller i situasjoner i
henhold til informasjonen på side 3.

Maks. brukervekt 100 kg når blokken
er forankret mellom fot- og skulder
nivå.

Blokken skal inspiseres av en opplært
og kompetent person. Forsøk aldri
å utføre service eller endre blokkens
funksjoner selv.

Forankre blokken, og gjør alt for å
unngå skarpe kanter og pendelri­siko. Blokken skal heller ikke være
forankret slik at brukeren må utsette
seg for fare ved forankring. Kontroller
skarpe kanter, og bruk kantbeskyt­telse hvis det vurderes at dette er
påkrevd.
