Crest’s PFA600 is a compact, extremely powerful DC-powered amplifier designed for portable and mobile applications where AC is either unavailable or impractical. The PFA600 matches the same uncompromisingly high-quality circuitry used in the Crest Professional Series amplifiers with two high-efficiency DC-to­DC switching power supplies, incorporating Class H modulated supply rails for further efficiency.
Three rack spaces high, the PFA600 runs on 24 volts DC. A forced-air configuration is used to cool channel heat sinks mount­ed in a back-to-back tunnel arrangement. Input/Output barrier strips, Octal Sockets and circuit breaker/power switches are pro­vided for each channel.
The rugged steel chassis is designed for long-term structural soundness. Either channel can be independently switched off if not required, conserving battery power.
The PFA600, like Crest’s Professional and CC/CV Series ampli­fier, features comprehensive protection circuitry, including IGM, which allows the amplifier to operate safely even into very stressful loads, and Auto-Ramp, which gradually increases gain when the amplifier is initially powered up or comes out of a pro­tect mode.

watts into 8 ohms, both channels driven, 20Hz-20kHz. The amplifier shall be fan-cooled. It shall have circuitry to protect itself and the speaker load from output short circuits, DC volt­age on outputs, and thermal overload. It shall have impedance sensing circuitry, an RMS clip limiter and Auto-Ramp™ signal control. Output relays shall protect the speaker load from any type of amplifier failure. The amplifier shall have a voltage gain of 40x with an input sensitivity of 500mV for rated power at 4 ohms. The hum and noise level shall be at least 101 dB below rated output, “A” weighted. SMPTE IMD shall be less than 0.04% at rated power. The frequency response shall be greater than 20Hz-20kHz, +.1, -.5dB at rated power. The amplifier will operate on 24 volts DC. Each channel shall be powered independently by a 1 kVA DC-to-DC switching power supply, with Class H operation for high efficiency, and

have a magnetic circuit breaker/power switch. Maximum current draw shall be no greater than 45 amperes per channel at rated power into a 4 ohm resistance. Indicators shall include Clip/Limit, Signal, Protect, and Active LED’s for each channel, as well as an Undervoltage LED, an On LED, and an Overvoltage LED. The amplifier shall have an attenuator control for each channel, a signal ground lift jumper, remote on/off connections, and DC power input terminals. The inputs shall be actively balanced and have female XLR-type 3-pin con­nectors (pin 3+) and barrier strip connectors. Output connectors shall be barrier strips, with three parallel outputs per channel. The amplifier shall have Octal Sockets for optional acces­sory modules. All connections (input, output, power, control, and accessory), sockets, con­trols, switches, jumpers, and indicators shall be located on the front panel. The packaging of the amplifier shall allow for standard rack mounting without requiring space between similar units. Dimensions shall be 5.25" (13.34cm) high, 19" (48.26cm) wide, and 15" (38.10cm) deep. The amplifier shall have a net weight 41 lbs. (23.10kg). The amplifier shall be desig­nated the Crest Audio Model PFA600.
