IMPORTANT NOTES: It is important to read these instructions carefully and also note the information given on the heater itself.
As these particular instructions refer to the assembly and installation of a new heater, they should be retained by the installer; not left
behind for the user as this would invite the dismantling and servicing by unqualified persons. FOR THE USER, there is a separate
instruction leaflet explaining how the heater should be operated. Please see that this leaflet is left with the heater for the user’s
purposes. A MEANS FOR DISCONNECTION IN ALL POLES MUST BE INCORPORATED IN THE FIXED WIRING IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE WIRING RULES, THE INSTALLATION SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT BY A COMPETENT ELECTRICIAN. CABLE HAVING
A MINIMUM ‘T’ RATING OF 85ºC MUST BE USED This storage heater is not suitable for connection to a 30A ring circuit. The
heater must not be located below a socket outlet.
WARNINGS - THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED - SPECIAL ATTENTION MUST BE PAID TO THE SECURITY OF THE HEATER’S
WALL FIXINGS. TO MAINTAIN STABILITY, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE HEATER IS PLACED ON A LEVEL SURFACE AND CARE
SHOULD BE TAKEN TO AVOID IRREGULAR SURFACES, SUCH AS MAY RESULT FROM CARPETS OR TILED SURROUNDS PARTIALLY
PROTRUDING UNDER THE HEATER.
IF, DURING ANY REASSEMBLY OF THE HEATER, A PART OF THE THERMAL INSULATION SHOWS DAMAGE OR DETERIORATION
WHICH MAY IMPAIR SAFETY, IT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY AN IDENTICAL PART.
WALL FIXING: The heater must ALWAYS be mounted against, and fixed to a wall as it will not stand up by itself. A detachable
bracket is provided for screwing to the wall, the heater is then placed in position and fixed to the bracket by a screw at each end.
The heater must never be unscrewed or moved from the wall bracket whilst it is loaded with bricks. THE HEATER IS VERY HEAVY
AND WILL BE DANGEROUS IF ITS WALL FIXING BECOMES INSECURE.
Solid Brick and Concrete Walls
No. 10 Rawlplug plastic inserts. Drill hole of 8mm dia to a depth of 15mm greater than depth of the insert.
Panelled Wall, Paramount Board, Chipboard, Plasterboard, etc.
Check that the panel itself is adequately fixed to battens etc. Use Rawlplug M5 intersets; drill accurate 10mm dia holes in single skin plasterboard. One fixing should be in studwork.
Hollow concrete, Breeze Block and Thermolite Block Walls
RAWLPLUG ‘RAWLOK R6054R’. Some authorities suggest UNIFIX LB 70/10mm. Use Drill for accurate hole, not hammer or chisel.
Timber Frame
Seek specialist advice, some authorities suggest RAWLNUT
Storage heaters are not compatible with all types of floor coverings and in extreme cases damage may occur. It is recommended
that before installation of this product, you check your floor covering is suitable for exposure to continued high temperatures.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or
lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision for instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

PLEASE DON’T TAKE CHANCES
Site conditions may vary considerably and Creda cannot recommend the correct wall fixings to be used. It is the responsibility of
the installer to ensure that adequate permanent fixing has been achieved. Purely for guidance the suggested fixings are made for
certain wall materials but this list is not comprehensive or authoritative. Different wall constructions will need different inserts. Note
that inserts incorporating plastic may be subject to shrinkage behind a warm storage heater and are therefore not recommended.
Wall fixings can be obtained from local stockists
CARPETS: For safety, the heater must be positioned in the room so that there is at least 75mm free air space all around it; under
windows, ensure that curtains, when drawn, cannot touch or cover the heater casing. In order to maintain stability, it is essential
that the heater be placed on a level surface and care should be taken to avoid irregular surfaces, such as may result from carpets or
tiled surrounds partially protruding under the heater. The heater feet are designed to go underneath a carpet rather than standing
on it; this permits the weight to be taken on a firm base. Carpet gripper should be removed from behind the heater feet.
BRICKS: The heater casing and the heater storage bricks with which it must be fitted, are delivered in separate packages. The
brick is common to all heaters, packed in pairs.
The brick catalogue number is 791402015. 70305S models have 12 bricks. 70315S have 16 bricks.

Remove the inner front panel by unscrewing the screws along its top and sides. As the front insulation is attached care must be taken when lifting this panel from the heater and placing it to one side, the insulation must not be damaged. REMOVE ALL THE PACKING CARDBOARD FROM INSIDE THE STORAGE BRICK COMPARTMENT, IF LEFT INSIDE IT WILL BE SET ON FIRE WHEN THE HEATER IS SWITCHED ON.

THREE SCREWS
Remove the two black screws at each end of the heater as shown in Fig. 1. This will allow the lower front panel to drop down and be lifted clear of the heater. Set carefully to one side.
Remove three screws along the bottom edge and the three screws at the rear of the top panel as indicated in Fig. 2. With hands positioned on each side of the panel rotate the base of the front panel away from
the heater, whilst lifting upwards to unhook the top from the end panels. The panel can now be lifted clear and set to one side. Remove the packing pieces from the slots of the inner front (one on the 70305S and two on the 70315S) see Fig. 3. Removing the top panel will also remove the room temperature control knob.

MAINS TERMINALS
CONNECTING THE MAINS CABLE - Connect the restricted (E7)
supply to the terminal block, marked “Storage Circuit”, having first passed the cable through a front cable clamp in the base. Connect the unrestricted (Peak) supply to the terminal block, marked “Fan/Boost Circuit”, having passed this cable through another cable clamp in the base. At this point, if desired, an external fan/boost timer may be fitted to the heater by passing the two wires from the timer through the remaining cable clamp, and connecting them across the terminal block, marked “Timer”, having already removed the link fitted across this block at the factory. Connect the EARTH lead from both supplies to the terminal marked with the symbol.

Place the heater on its feet, and in the desired position against the wall - DO NOT LIFT THE HEATER BY ITS TOP PANEL! Ensure that
the heater is based on a firm level surface, at least 100mm from any end wall, and at least 100mm below any shelf or similar projection. Cut away the gripper rod or carpet which would prevent the heater sitting firmly on the floor.

Mark the position of the two outside corners of the wall bracket with the heater pushed tight against the wall. Remove the wall bracket from the heater by removing
the screw at each end. Place the heater to one side and reposition the bracket against the wall using the corner marks for alignment. Four fixing positions must be chosen for the SFH24AW and three for the SFH18AW. Mark the positions for the fixing holes - two at extreme ends and the others spaced evenly between them. Remove the bracket from the wall, drill the holes in the positions marked, and insert suitable fixings previously described. Secure the wall bracket to the wall using the correct fasteners.
Ensure that any slack is pulled back through each clamp and tighten the clamping screws. Make sure clamp is tightening on outer sheath of cable and not on individual conductors. Secure cables to base of heater using ties provided in fixing kit.

ENSURE THAT CABLE CLAMP IS SECURELY ATTACHED TO THE CHASSIS OF THE HEATER.

THE FOLLOWING MUST BE APPLIED
WHEN FIXING THE HEATER TO THE
WALL BRACKET
i) If no skirting board is present secure the heater
through the wall bracket slots closest to the wall.
ii) If 100mm (4”) skirting is present secure the heater
through the outer slots.
iii) If skirting taller than 150mm (6”) is present this must
be reduced to 150mm (6”) over the entire width of the heater plus 25mm (1”) at each end.
Do not fully tighten these screws until the bricks are loaded into the heater as some settling of the heater may occur.
NOTE: NEVER REMOVE THESE SCREWS WITHOUT FIRST UNLOADING THE HEATER.
You must fit a retaining screw at each end of the heater.
WALL FIXINGS - VERY IMPORTANT
Remove one element to allow access for the back row of bricks. On the SFH24AW remove the element to the right of centre and on the SFH18AW remove the
central element. Loosen the two screws securing the element tails in the ceramic connector block, and lift the element up and out of the heater.
Carefully fit the bottom row of the back layer of bricks placing the two end bricks into position first. Ensure that the recess
in the bricks is towards the rear of the heater. Repeat this with the top row of the back layer of bricks. Refit the element which had been
removed by feeding the tails down through the hole in the base insulation and into the connector block. Ensure the element is fully pushed home, then securely tighten the two screws in the block.
ENSURE THAT ALL PACKAGING MATERIAL IS REMOVED FROM THE BRICKS BEFORE FITTING THEM.

Replace the inner front, complete with insulation, by locating its bottom edge behind the front lip of the chassis and inserting the retaining screws along the top and sides. The outer front/top panel assembly can be hooked over the rear panel top flange. Ensure
no wires are trapped between the panel flanges before replacing and tightening the three screws at the rear of the top panel and the three screws along the bottom edge. The lower front panel can now be fitted by locating the tabs (one on the 70305S and two on the 70315S) into the corresponding slots in the bottom face of the front panel. The two black screws should now be replaced at each side of the heater. Finally tighten the screws at each end of the wall bracket.
Refit the control knob under the lift-up flap, taking care to align the flat on the spindle.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL POLYSTYRENE AND CARDBOARD PACKING PIECES HAVE BEEN REMOVED. ENSURE WALL BRACKET SCREWS ARE TIGHTENED FULLY. WARNING. When a new heater is run up to temperature, the materials will produce a slight smell for the first few days, these are normally harmless in a well ventilated room. It is best to make these first overnight charges with the ‘Room Temp’ control knob at ‘6’ and High Fan selected (II). Caged birds, young children and people with chest ailments are best kept out of the room for the commissioning period.
