Congratulations!
You are now the proud owner of the compact but powerful Crate MXB15 Bass Amplifier. Small in size yet big in performance: the 8” Crate Custom speaker makes the most of the amplifier’s 12 watts of musical output power. A4-band rotary EQ and built-in Limiter circuit give you complete control over a wide variety of sounds. In addition, the front panel headphone and external speaker jacks make this amplifier equally suited for practicing as well as perfoming in intimate surroundings.
Like all Crate products, your MXB15 is designed by musicians and built using only the best components. Extensive testing confirms that this amplifier is the absolute best it can be.
In order to get the most out of your new amplifier, we strongly urge you to read the information contained in this manual before you begin playing.
And thank you
for choosing

Important Safeguards and Precautions:
3
All Crate products are designed for continuous safe operation. Abiding by the following rules can help prevent damage to your amplifier, yourself and others.
The amplifier is equipped with a three-pronged AC power cord. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, NEVER remove or otherwise attempt to defeat the ground pin of the power cord.
Connect the amplifier ONLY to a properly grounded AC outlet of the proper voltage for your amp.
Avoid sudden temperature extremes, rain and moisture. Also, avoid sudden and intense impact. (If the unit has been subjected to any of the preceding abuses, have it looked at by an authorized service center.)
• Do not expose the unit to splashing or dripping liquid. Do not place liquid filled objects on the unit.
NEVER set the amplifier on a support that will not bear its weight.
Always keep the total speaker impedance at or above the rated load.
Unplug the amplifier before cleaning it. NEVER spray liquid cleaners
onto the amplifier. Wipe it with a slightly dampened, lint-free cloth to remove dirt and film.
DO NOT use the amplifier if it has sustained damage to the chassis, controls, or power cord. Refer the unit to an authorized service center for inspection.
Prolonged exposure to high volume levels may cause permanent hearing loss or damage. Such damage is progressive and irreversible!

1: INPUT: Use this 1/4” jack to connect your guitar to the amplifier by
means of a shielded instrument cable. 2: MASTER GAIN: Use this control to adjust the overall output of the
amplifier. 3: LOW: Use this control to adjust the bass response of the amplifier.
Rotating the control counterclockwise reduces the low frequency output. Rotating the control clockwise increases the low frequency output. The Low control provides a range of 15dB of boost or cut at 60Hz. It may be necessary to reduce the Low frequency output at higher volume levels.
4: LO MID: Use this control to adjust the “thickness” or “fatness” of the amplifier. Rotating the control counterclockwise reduces the lower middle frequency output. Rotating the control clockwise increases the lower middle frequency output. The Low Mid control provides a range of 18dB of boost or cut at 630Hz.
5: HI MID: Use this control to adjust the clarity and definition of the string attack. Rotating the control counterclockwise reduces the upper middle frequency output. Rotating the control clockwise increases the upper middle frequency output. The High Mid control provides a range of 19dB of boost or cut at 2kHz.
6: HIGH: Use this control to adjust the high frequency response of the amplifier. Rotating the control counterclockwise reduces the high frequency output. Rotating the control clockwise increases the high frequency output. The High control provides a range of 27dB of boost or cut at 10kHz.

7: SPEAKER: Use this jack to connect the amplifier to an external
speaker. The internal speaker is disconnected when this jack is used. The impedance of the external speaker must be 4 ohms or greater.
WARNING: Do not attempt to use headphones in the Speaker jack! Permanent hearing damage could result!
8: HEADPHONES: Use this jack to connect headphones to the amplifier.
The internal speaker is disconnected when headphones are used.
CAUTION: To avoid possible damage to your hearing, do not use headphones for extended periods of time at extremely loud levels.
9: ON LED: This LED illuminates when the amplifier is turned on. 10: POWER: Use this switch to turn the amplifier on (top of the switch
depressed) and off (bottom of the switch depressed). 11: POWER CORD (rear panel, not shown): The grounded power cord
should only be plugged into a grounded power outlet that meets all applicable electrical codes and is compatible with the voltage, power, and frequency requirements stated on the rear panel. Do not attempt to defeat
the safety ground connection.
