MOWlNGTIPS
Under cartein condi_ons,suches verytall
grass, itmay be necessoryto raisethe height of cut toreduce pushingeffortand to keep from overloading the engine and
leavingdumps of grassclippings. It may also be necessaryto reducegroundspeed
and/orrunthe lawn moweroverthe area a secondtime.
Forextremelyheavy cutting, reducethe widthof cut by overlappingpreviouslyGut
pathand mow slowly.
For bettergrass baggingand mostcutting
conditions,the enginespeed shouldbe set
inthe fastposition.
Pores inclothgrasscatcherscan become
filledwithdirtand dustwithuse and
catcherswillcollectlessgrass. To prevent
this, regularlyhose catcheroffwithwater and letdry beforeusing.
Keep top of enginearound starterclear and clean of grassclippingsand chaff.
This will help engine airflowand extend
engine life.
MULCHING MOWING TIPS IMPORTANT: For best performance, keep
mower housingfree of buiit-upgrassand
trash,CleanUNDERSIDE OF MOWER
HOUSING aftereach use. See "Cleaning" in MAINTENANCE eec_Jonofthis manual.
The specialmulchingbladewill recut the grass clippings manytimes and reduce them in sizesothat asthey fall ontothe
lawnthey will disperseintothe grassand
not be noticed. Also, the mulchedgrasswil biodegrade quickly to provide nutrients for
the lawn. Always mulch with your highest
engine(blade) speed as this will provide the best reoutting action of the blades.
Avoid cuttingyour lawn when itis wet. Wet grass tends to form clumps and interferes
the mulching action. The best time to
mow your lawn is the early afternoon. At
this timethe grass has driedand the newly
cut areawill notbe exposedto the direct
sun.
For best results, adjustthe lawnmower cuttingheightsothatthe lawnmowercuts
offonlythe top one-thirdofthegrass blades. If the lawn is overgrown itwillbe necessaryto raisethe heightof cutto reducepushingeffortand to keep from
overloading the engine and leaving dumps ofmulchedgrass. For extremely heavy mulching, reduce your widthofcut,
mow slowlyand raise the re_r of thelawn
mower one wheel adjuster setlJnghigher than thefront.
Certaintypesof grassand grasscondi'dons
may requirethat an area be mulcheda secondtime to comrYetelyhidethe
clippings. When doinga second cut,mow acrossor perpendicularto thefirstcut path.
Change yourouttingpsttemfromweek to week. Mow northto south oneweek then
change to eastto weet the nextweek. This will helpprevent mattingand grainingof
the lawn.
