MOWING TIPS
Under certain conditions, such as verytall grass, itmay be necessary to raise the
heightof cut to reduce pushing effort and to keepfrom overloadingthe engine and leavingdumps of grass cfippings..
- For extremely heavy cutting, reduce the width of cut and raise the rearofthelawn
mower housing one (1)wheel adjuster settinghigher than the front for better
dischargeof grass.
,, When using a reardischarge lawn mower in
moist, heavy grass, ctumps of cutgrass may not enter the grasscatcher. Reduce
ground speed (pushing speed) and/or run the lawn mower over thearea a second time,
If a trailof grass clippingsis left on the fight
side ofa rear'discharge lawn mower, mow
ina clockwise direction with a small overlap tocoltect the clippings on the next pass.
- Keep top of engine around starterclear and
dean of grass clippings and chaff. This will help engine air flow andextend engine tire.
Pores in cloth grass catchers can become
titledwithdirt and dust wiLhuse and catchers will collect lessgrass. To prevent this, regularlyhose catchersoffwith water' and let dry before using
MULCHING MOWING TIPS IMPORTANT: For best performance, keep
mower housing free of built-up grass and trash. Clean underside of mower housing after each use. See "Cleaning" in
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES section of this manual.
The special mulching bladewi!l recurthe grass clippings many times and reduce
them in size so that asthey fallonto the
lawnthey will disperse into the grass and not be noticed. Also, the mulchedgrasswill
biodegrade quickly to provide nutrientsfor
the lawn. Always mulch withyourhighest
engine (blade) speed asthiswiltprogidethe best recutting action of the blades°
Avoid cuttingyour lawn when it iswet.Wet
grasstends toform clumps and interferes
with the mulching action_The best time to
mow your lawn isthe early aftemoonoAt this
time the grass has dried and the newly cut
area will not be exposed to the directsun
° For best results, adjustthe lawn mower
cutting height sothatthe lawn mower cuts off only the top one-third of the grassblades.,
Ifthe lawn isovergrown it wiltbe necessary
to raisethe height of cut to reduce pushing effort and to keep from overloading the engine and leaving clumpsof mulched
grass. For extremely heavy mulching,
reduceyourwidth ofcut, mowslowly and raisethe rear ofthe lawn mower onewheel
adjuster setting higherthan the front°
, Certain types of grass and grassconditions
may requirethat an area be mulched a second time to completely hide the
clippings,When doinga second cut, mow acrossor perpendicular to the firstcut path.
, Change your cuttingpattern from week to
week. Mow north to south one week then change to east to west the next week°This
will help prevent mattingand gran_ngofthe lawno
