_1. WARNING:
The operation of any tool can result in foreign objects being thrown into your eyes, which can result in
side shields and a full face shield when needed. We recommend Wide Vision Safety Mask for use over
O severe eye damage. Before beginning operation, always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with
eyeglasses or standard safety glasses with side shields. Always wear eye protection which is marked to comply wlth ANSi Z87.1.

SAVETHESEINSTRUCTIONS WORK AREA
Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benches and dark areas invite accidents.
Do not operate power tools in explosive atmo-
spheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids or gases. Power tools may create sparks
which may ignite the dust or fumes.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
Don't expose power tools to rain. Water entering a power tool writ increase the dsk of etectdc shock or mal-
funclion.
PERSONALSAFETY
Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use tool while tired or under the influence of
drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inatten- tion while operating power tools may result in serious
personal injury.
Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewelry. Contain long hair. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from moving parts and exhaust.
Loose clothes, iewelry, or long hair can be caught in
moving parts.
Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal-
ance at all times. Proper footing and balance enables
better control of the tool in unexpected situations. Do not use on a ladder or unstabi'e support.
Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust mask must be used for appropriate conditions.
TOOLUSEAND CARE
Do not use tool if switch does not turn it on or off.
Any tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
Store idle tools out of the reach of children and other untrained persons. Tools are dangerous in the
hands of untrained users. Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp
and clean. Properly maintained tools with sharp
cutting edges are tess likely to bind and are easier to control

SERVICE
i Tool service must be performed only by qualified
repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.
II When servicing a tool, use only identical replace-
ment parts. Follow instructions In the Maintenance section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or
failure to follow Maintenance Instructions may create a
risk of electdc shock or injury.
Hold tool by insulated gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the tool may contact hidden wiring or fta cord. Contact with a "live" wire will make exposed metal parts of the tool "live" and shock the operator.
ADDITIONAL RULES FOR SAFE OPERATION
Do not allow children to operate Hand Vac or play with Hand Vec as a toy. Close attention Is necessary
when used near children,
This Hand Vac is intended for household use ONLY.
Use this Hand Vac ONLY for its intended use as
described in this manual. Use only the attachments recommended in this manual.
If Hand Vac is not working properly, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into
water, return to your nearest Sears Service Center. Do not abuse cord. Never carry charger or base by
the cord or yank to disconnect from electrical outlet.
Grasp charger, not the cord, and pull to unplug. Do not allow cord to hang over edge of table or counter or to
touch hot surfaces,

[] Do not handle charger or Hand Vac with wet hands. [] Do not put any objects in ventilation openings. Do nol
use with any opening blocked: keep openings free of dust, lint, hair. and anything that may reduce air flow.
[] NEVER vacuum materials such as hot coals, cigarette
butts, matches, etc.
[] Do not use without filter in place. [] Turn off ell controls before unplugging from or
plugging into an electhcal outlet for charging. [] Use extra care when using on stairs. [] Do not use to pick up hard objects such as nails,
screws, coins, etc. Damage or injury could result. [] Hand Vac does not have to be plugged into an electri-
cal outlet, therefore it is always in operating condition.
Be aware of possible hazards when using your Hand Vac or when changing accessories.
[] USE ONLY THE CHARGER PROVIDED WITH YOUR
HAND VAC. Do not substitute any other chamjer. Use of another charger could cause batteries to explode
causing possible serious injury,
[] DO NOT PLACE HAND VAC OR BATTERIES NEAR
FIRE OR HEAT. They may explode.
[] Your Hand vac should be charged in a location where
the temoerature is more than 50°F but less than IO0°E

Under extreme usage or temperature conditions, battery leakage may occur. If liquid comes in contact
with skin, wash at least fO minutes then seek immedi- ate medical attention.

CHARGED OUTDOORS OR ON WET SURFACES. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the
tool, a guard or other part that is damaged should
be carefully checked to determine that It will operate property and perform Its Intended func- tion. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding
of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and
any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be
properly repaired or replacec; by an au_.horized service center. Fo])owing this ru)e will reduce the risk

i Make sure your extension cord is in good condi-
tion. When using an extension cord, be sure to use
one heavy enough to carry the current your prod- uct will draw. A wire gage size (A.W.G.) of at least
16 is recommended for an extension cord 100 feet or less in length. A cord exceeding 100 feet is not
recommended. If in doubt, use the next heavier gage. The smaller the gage number, the heavier the oord. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line
voltage resulting in toss of power and overheating

To reduce risk of damage to charger body and
cord, pun by charger plug rather than cord when disconnecting charger. Following this rule will

Make sure cord is located so that It will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected

An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of improper extension
cord could result in a risk of fire and electric shoc_, if
extension cord must be used, make sure:
a. That pins on plug of extension cord are the
same nt_mber, size and shape as those of plug on charger.
b. That extension cord is properly wired and in
good electrica_ condition; and
c. That wire size is large enough for AC ampere
rating of charger as specified below:
