WORK AREA SAFETY
1. ALWAYS keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered benchesand dark areas invite accidents.
2. DO NOT operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable Itqulds, gases, or dust. Powertools createsparks whichmay ignitethe dustor fumes.
3. ALWAYS keep bystanders, children, and visitors away while operating a power tool. Distractionscan causeyou to losecontrol.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
1. Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized plug (one blade Is wider than the other.)This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one
way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. if it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a polarized outlet.
DO NOT change the plug in any way.
2. Double insulation[] eliminates the need for the three wire grounded power cordand groundedpowersupplysystem.Applicableonlyto Class II
(doubleinsulated) tools.
3. Before plugginginthe tool. BE SURE that the outletvoltagesuppliedis withinthe voltagemarked on the toots data plate.DO NOT use"AC only"
ratedtoolswithaDC powersupply.
4. ALWAYS avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There isan increased riskof electric
shockif yourbodyis grounded.
5. If operating the power tool in damp locations is unavoidable, ALWAYS use a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter to supply power to your tool. ALWAYS wear electrician's rubber gloves and footwear in damp
conditions.
6. DO NOT expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a powertool willincrease the riskof electricshock.
7. DO NOT abuse the cord. NEVER use the cord to carry the tools or pull the plug from the outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges
or moving parts. Replace damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increasethe riskof electric shock.
8. When operating apower tool outside, ALWAYS use an outdoor extension cord marked "W-A" or"W'. These cords ere rated for outdoor
use and reduce the risk of electric shock.

PERSONAL SAFETY
I. ALWAYS stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense
when operating a power tool. DO NOT use tool while tired or under the Influence of drugs, alcohol or medlcetlon. A momentofinattentionwhile
operatingpowertoolsmay result in seriouspersonal injury.
2. ALWAYS dress properly. DO NOT wear loose clothing or jewelry. Pull back long hair. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving
parts. Loose clothing,jewelryor longhaircan be caughtin movingparts.
3. ALWAYS avoid accidental starting. BE SURE switch is in the "Off" position before plugging in. DO NOT carrytoolswith yourfinger on the switch.Carryingtools withyour finger on the switchorpluggingin tools that havethe switchin the"On" positioninvitesaccidents.
4. ALWAYS remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning the tool on, A wrenchor a key that isleft attached to a rotatingpart ofthe toolmay resultin personalinjury.
5. DO NOT overreach. ALWAYS keep proper footing and balance at all
times. Properfootingand balance enables better control of the tool in
unexpected situations.
6. ALWAYS use safety equipment. ALWAYS wear eye protection. Dust
mask,non-skidsafety shoes, hard hat, or hearingprotectionmust be used for appropriate conditions
TOOL USE AND CARE SAFETY
1. ALWAYS use clamps or other practical ways to secure and support th_ workpiece to a stable platform. Holding the work byhand or against your
body is unstableand may lead to lossof control.
2. DO NOT force the tool. Use the correct tool for your application. The
correcttoolwilldo thejobbetterand saferatthe rate forwhichitis designed.
3. DO NOT use the tool if the switch does not turn it "On" or "Off".
Any tool that cannot be controlled withthe switch isdangerousand must be repaired.
4. ALWAYS disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing the tool. Such
preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting thetool accidentally.

SERVICE SAFETY
1.if any part of this sander is missing or should break, bend, or fail in any way; or should any electrical component fail to perform properly: ALWAYS shut off the power switchand removethe sanderplug fromthe power source and have the missing, damaged or failed parts replaced BEFORE resuming operation.
2. Tool service must be performed only at a Sears Service Center. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in a risk of injury.

Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber.
Your risk from these exposures varies, depending upon how often you do this type of work.To reduce your exposure to these chemicals:

are specially designed to filter out microscopic particles.

triangularbase (Fig. 3) is for sandinglargersurfaces. The detailfingerbase (Fig.4) isidealfor sendingcorners and small, intricate hard-to-reachareas.
