The Infrared Ceiling Mount Activity Monitor Assessment Calibrator is used to verify that
an H24-61 Ceiling Mount Activity Monitor is within specification. Prior to the
availability of the H24-60, the only method for determining whether a sensor was within
specification was to return the Ceiling Mount Activity Monitor to the factory for testing.
There are two controls in the H24-60 that are operated independently. One control
activates the heating element and the other control activates the motor. Both must be
activated during the calibration routine. It is important that the heating element be
activated at least five (5) minutes prior to the start of the assessment.
The following instructions are intended for users of the Habitest System. User’s of nonCoulbourn data collection systems are responsible for creating any calibration session
protocols as required.
INSTALLATION AND SETUP
1. Connect the Power Supply to the power input of the H24-60.
2. Connect the power cord to the power supply and plug the power cord into a
mains voltage outlet.
3. Turn the heater switch to the on (1) position.
4. Mount up to four H24-61 Infrared Ceiling Mount Activity Monitors on the top of
the Calibrator. Loosen the thumbscrew of the mounting bracket and slide the
Activity Monitor under the top of the bracket so that the “Movement
Units/Movement Episodes” switch is facing opposite the back side of the bracket.
Be sure to slide the back, left side of the Activity Monitor up against the mounting
bracket to assure that the lens of the Activity Monitor is aligned with the opening
of the Calibrator.
5. The “Movement Units/Movement Episodes” switch of the H24-61 Activity
Monitor must be set to the “Movement Units” position. The sensitivity switch on
the right side of the Activity Monitor must be set to the “Mouse” position.
6. Connect the cable from each Activity Monitor installed to one of the four switch
inputs on the Environmental Control Board (ECB) connected to a Habitest Linc.
All four (4) switch inputs on a single ECB can be used if assessing four Activity
Monitors.
7. Power on the Motor by setting the Motor switch to the “1” position.
RUNNING A CALIBRATION / ASSESSMENT (USING GRAPHIC STATE)
Before running a Calibration / Assessment of the Activity Monitor(s), it will be necessary
to create a simple, one state, Graphic State Protocol that terminates after 10 minutes or
600 seconds. In State 1, select “Add Time Go To” and enter 10, select minutes, and
choose the FIN state (see Figure 1).
