Refrigeration of food
The refrigerator compartment is used to store foods and drinks.
For best results, see the following rules: do not put warm foods or evaporating liquids in the
refrigerator; cover or wrap foods (particularly if they have a strong
smell or contain aromatic herbs); do not cover the shelves with paper or plastic since
this blocks circulation of air in the compartment. Moreover: cooked foods, cold dishes, jelly, etc. should be
covered and can be stored on any shelf.
fruit & vegetables: these should be thoroughly
cleaned and placed in the bottom salad crisper.
butter & cheese: these should be placed in special
airtight containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or polythene bags to exclude air as much as possible.
milk bottles: these should have a cap and should be
stored in the bottle rack on the door.
raw meat: it should be placed in plastic bags and
stored on the drawer below the evaporator. Bananas, potatoes, onion and garlic, if not pack ed up ,

Storage of frozen food
The compartment is also suitable for the storage of frozen foods; in this case follow these simple rules:
Turn the thermostat knob to the coldest setting (if the room temperature is lower than 20°C it is necessary to arrange the baffleplate so as to obtain a higher temperature in the refrigerating compartment). Remember that, in this condition, the refrigerating compartment temperature might drop below 0°C. If this occurs reset the thermostat knob to a warmer setting.
Make sure that the frozen foods have been correctly stored by the retailer.
Make sure that the interval between the time when you buy the frozen foods and when you put them in the freezer is short.
Do not exceed the dates of expiry marked on the packages by the manufacturer.
After a period when the appliance is not used, make it run for at least two hours with the thermostat knob turned to the coldest setting before placing the frozen foods in it.
If in the evaporator are not stored frozen foods, to obtain a lower power consumption and a better refrigeration of the foods it is advisable to arrange the baffleplate so as to obtain a lower temperature in the refrigerating compartment.
Defrosting
During operation, the evaporator of the refrigerator compartment gets covered with frost which must be removed because, being a thermal insulator , pre v ents the even distribution of cold. If it is not removed, the temperature inside the fridge increases with a higher power consumption.
To carry out defrosting proceed as follows: Press the button in the middle of the thermostat knob
(Fig. 9).
