OTHER INFORMATION
OTHER INFORMATION
As cassette tape rubs across the playback and record heads, a brown deposit of loose particles may be left on the heads and capstan wheel. Cheap low quality tape will do this very quickly!
A build up of deposit will reduce sound quality and lead to tapes being "chewed up".
With the mach ine switched on and the cassette door open, press play. This will move the heads up and engage the capstan wheel.
Impregnate a cotton wool stick with cassette head cleaner or a little methylated spirits. Then gently wipe over the heads to remove the deposits (as illustrated left).
Be careful not to trap the cotton wool stick between the rollers when cleaning the capstan wheel. Allow the cassette heads and capstan head a chance to dry for a few minutes before playing cassettes.
