BEFORE OPERATION
Before operating your plancha unit, perform the following tasks:
Remove all packing material and save for subsequent shipment or in case of
concealed shipping damage.
Keep unit away from other heat sources and allow at least two (2) inches
clearance for air circulation at sides, front and rear of the unit. If either the air intake or exhaust outlet is blocked, the internal temperature will rise, causing an error code to occur.
Please make sure that the power cord(if supplied) is firmly attached to your
CookTek unit BEFORE plugging the unit into the power receptacle and before attempting operation. If the unit is not equipped with a power cord, have a qualified electrician connect the unit to the power supply.
Grounding Instructions:
The unit must be properly grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing a safe path for the electric current. If the unit has a power cord with a 4 or 5-prong grounding plug, a compatible and properly grounded outlet must be used. It is the owner’s responsibility to an appropriate wall receptacle, or have a qualified electrician connect the appliance to the power supply.
For your safety, never cut, remove, or disable the electrical (ground) connection from the plug. Never use an adapter plug or an extension cord with the 4 or 6 hob unit.
WARNING: Electric shock can result from an improperly grounded plug. Please consult a qualified electrician if you have any questions about these grounding instructions.
Every installation site has different electrical wiring. Because many different local codes exist, it is the Owner and Installer’s responsibility to comply with those codes. CookTek is not responsible for any consequential damages as a result of failure to comply with installation requirements.
Read all installation instructions carefully before starting installation.
Remove plancha unit carefully from carton.
Remove all loose packaging and accessories and save for subsequent
shipment or in case of concealed shipping damage.
It is the responsibility of the installer to comply with all federal, state and local
codes.
Any installation not matching the specifications discussed in this manual
automatically voids the product’s warranty.

User Interface
The CookTek plancha units have a single knob adjusting the setting, a button to switch between power and temperature control modes, and a 4-digit display to show the current setting. Power setting is a proportion of the maximum power available. Temperature settings will be automatically controlled by the microprocessor.
GENERAL OPERATION
Wire the plancha unit into a grounded, three-phase receptacle. Models will run on 208V or 400V drawing 14000W. Check rating plate on unit to verify correct voltage and wattage. Voltages below 200V or 400V can result in less than rated power and slower heating times.
NOTE: For proper operation, an independent, dedicated circuit should be used in all installations.
User Interface
The user interface on a CookTek plancha unit consists of a knob for adjusting the setting, a 4-digit display for visual verification of the setting, and a button to select between power and temperature control modes.
Knob
The knob has three detents to aid in adjusting the setting.
When the knob is pointing straight up, there is a detent set for off.
Rotating the knob clockwise 45 degrees, there is a detent for power setting 1, or
the lowest temperature setting.
Rotating the knob counter-clockwise 45 degrees, there is a detent for power
setting 10, or the maximum temperature setting.
All other power setting are proportional between 1 and 10. The temperature settings on the plancha are
300,325,350,375,400,425,450,475,500,MAX F / 150,160,175,190,205,235,250,260 and MAX C
The Display
On the top of the unit, there is 4-digit display that will show the power setting or
temperature setting. If temperature mode is selected, the "F" or "C" character will flash when the cooking surface is below the set temperature. It will stop flashing when the cooking surface has reached the set temperature.
The display will also show an error code in the event of a failure. Operation
The two cooking zones are independently controlled..
The unit will begin in power mode when it is first turned on.
To operate the unit in power mode, turn the knob to the desired power setting.
The maximum setting, 10, will provide the maximum power possible. All other settings are proportionally smaller. NOTE: The unit will NOT control the scale.
