OPERATION
Insert the probe plugs int o the recept ac les loc ated on the f ront of the therm om et er.
The plugs and receptacles are k ey ed w ith small and large pins. M ak e certain t hat the
plugs are inserted correct ly , do not f orc e them.
NOTE: Only one probe is required f or norm al operat ion.
Press the ON button t o turn the unit on.
Press the F/C button to display the temperat ure in Fahrenheit (°F w ill appear on t he
display) or Celsius (°C will appear on the dis play ).
Press the T1 button t o display t he temperat ure of probe 1
(T1 appears on the display).
Press the T2 button t o display t he temperat ure of probe 2
(T2 appears on the display).
Place the probe tip in contac t wit h the material to be m eas ured and read the
temperature on the display.
MAX MODE
In the MAX mode, the therm om et er will display the highest t em perat ure reading
achieved. It does not dis play the current temperat ure if it falls below the MAX reading.
Example: In the MAX mode
±0.3% + 1°C
in either Fahrenheit or Cels ius
between probe 1 and probe 2
ROBES
P
The probes supplied are ultra-fas t res pons e T y pe-K t herm oc ouple nak ed bead probes
with 4' leads and teflon insulat i on. Operat ing t em perat ure range f or t hes e
thermocouples is or 500°F (260°C ).
An accessory stainless steel tri ple purpos e probe wi t h handle is av ailable. An
accessory surfac e probe is als o available (see ac c es s ori es ).
Longer leads and extensions m ay be us ed. T he lead effec t for 164 f eet (50 met ers ) is
generally less than 0.2°C w it h a limit of error of 2.2°C. Type-K wire and Type-K
connectors mus t be used.
OFFSET ADJUSTMENT (Fine tuning)
The offset controls are set at the fact ory to allow for the variations f ound in standard
thermocouples. By adjus t ing t he offs et cont rols, f ound below t he thermoc ouple p lugs,
you can optimize measurem ent ac c urac y for a part ic ular thermoc ouple (or pair of
thermocouples) at a part ic ular t em perat ure.
ADJ
USTING FOR T1 OR T2 MEASUREMENTS
1. Plug in the T 1/ T 2 thermoc ouple and t urn t he t herm om et er ON . Press the
appropriate T1/T2 key t o display reading.
2. Place t he t herm oc ouple in a k now n stable t em perat ure env ironm ent at or near
the temperature you w is h to meas ure. Allow t he reading t o stabiliz e.
3. Slowly adjus t t he T1/T 2 OFFSET c ont rol that c orres ponds t o the selected input
until the thermom et er reading m at c hes the tem perat ure of the k now n
environment. (Allow s uf f icient t ime betw een adjus t m ent s to allow for
measurement lag).
4. The c alibrat ion of t he thermom et er-t herm oc ouple c om bi nat ion is now opt im iz ed
(fine-tuned) for measurem ent near t he t em perat ure us ed in step 2.
ZERO ADJUSTMENT FOR T1-T2 MEAS URE ME NTS :
1. Plug in both t he T 1 and T2 thermocouples.
2. Turn t he t herm om et er on and pres s the T1-T 2 button.
3. Place t he t herm oc ouples in a k now n stable t em perat ure env ironm ent at or near
the temperature you w is h to meas ure and allow the reading to s t abiliz e.
4. Slowly adjus t eit her T 1 or T2 (but not both) of the OFF SET controls unt il the
thermometer reads " 0". (Allow s uffic ient time bet w een adjus t m ents to allow f or
measurement lag).
5. The t herm om et er-thermocouple combination is now s et for different i al
temperature measurem ent near t he t em perat ure us ed in s t ep 3.
WRIST STRAP AND STAND
The unit is supplied with a Velcro w rist strap t hat att ac hes through t he t w o slots in the
back of the rubberized casing. R em ov e the rubberized c ov er and s lip t he end of the

the rectangular opening at the bac k of the unit. Place your fingernail under the opening
and flip the stand out. To close t he stand, simply snap it shut.
Select the desired input (T 1, T2 or T 1-T 2) then press the MAX button (MAX w ill appear
on the display). The thermom et er w ill dis play the m ax imum t em perat ure reading on the
LCD display. Press t he MAX key again t o exit MAX rec ording m ode.
HOLD
Press the HOLD key to "freeze" the display at the c urrent T1, T2 or T1-T 2 reading (DH will appear in the display). Press the HOLD k ey again to ret urn t o the current
reading.
TEMPERATURE DIF FE RE NTIAL T1-T2
Press the T1-T2 key to display the difference in temperature betw een probe 1 and
probe 2. This feature takes the tem perat ure being m eas ured at probe 2 and subt rac ts
