When all material is removed from the spatula scoop, the weight of the “tared” material will be displayed as a negative number.
ACCUMULATION FUNCTION
(∑)
The accumulation function allows the weights of material to be added together for a total accumulated material weight without having to combine the material in the spatula scoop to obtain the total accumulated material weight.
1. During measurement, if the weight is more than
0.5 grams (0.02 ounces), pressing the
/UNIT button will activate the accumulation feature (∑ will appear on the display).
2. To accumulate additional weights, remove the material, load additional material and press the ∑/UNIT button again, the display will now show the total of the accumulated weights.
Repeat step 2 as often as needed to continue to add to the total accumulated weight.
NOTE: To accumulate weights, each individual weight must be more than 0.5 grams (0.020 ounces), but not greater than 300 grams (10.580 ounces). The maximum total accumulated weight must not exceed 3000 grams (105.81 ounces).
3. To exit the accumulation mode, press the ∑/UNIT button when the spatula scoop is empty.
HOLD FUNCTION
The Hold Function will “freeze” the display at the current reading for ten (10) seconds.
To “freeze” the display at the current reading, press the HOLD button (“HOLD” will appear on the display). The “frozen” value will remain on the display if material is removed from, or added to, the spatula scoop.
NOTE: The weight being measured must be greater than 0.0 ounces/grams in order for the Hold Function to be used. While in this mode, pressing the ∑/UNIT button will exit from the Hold Mode.
Press the “HOLD” button again to return to the weighing mode, or wait for 10 seconds for the display to automatically return to the weighing mode.

IMPORTANT NOTES
The maximum amount of weight placed into, or force exerted on to, the spatula scoop should not exceed 450 grams (15.873 ounces), this will cause permanent damage to the unit.
To insure accurate weights, do not place material into the spatula scoop before turning the unit on.
When turning the unit on, if material has already been placed into the balance scoop, and the weight of the material is less than 50 grams (1.763 ounces), the unit will automatically tare the weight and display zero (see the “Tare Function” sections).
When turning the unit on, if material has already been placed into the balance scoop, and the weight of the material is greater than 50 grams (1.763 ounces), the unit will display OUT2 and turn off. The material must be removed from the balance scoop prior to turning the unit on.
The detachable spatula scoop is dishwasher safe. The handle is not dishwasher safe, to clean, wipe it with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the handle in water. Do not clean any part of the SpatulaBalance™ with corrosive liquids or harsh cleansing agents or abrasives.
DISPLAY MESSAGES
OUT2 Indicates that the weight must be removed from the spatula scoop prior to turning the unit on. If this message appears and no material is present in the spatula scoop, this indicates possible damage to the unit.
0-ld Indicates that the weight of the material being measured exceeds the capacity of the unit.
UNST Indicates that the unit is not being held level or steady and the unit is unable to obtain a proper weight measurement.
ALL OPERATIONAL DIFFICULTIES
If this unit does not function properly for any reason, replace the batteries with new high quality batteries (see the “Battery Replacement” section). Low battery power can occasionally cause any number of “apparent” operational diffi culties. Replacing the batteries with new fresh batteries will solve most diffi culties.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
An erratic display, faint display, no display, or LO appearing on the display are all indicators that the batteries need replacement. To replace the batteries, remove the battery cover screw (located on the back of the handle). Remove the battery cover. Remove the exhausted batteries and replace them with two (2) new AAA alkaline batteries. Make certain to insert the new batteries with the proper polarity as indicated by the “+” and “–” symbols in the battery compartment. Replace the battery cover. Replace the battery cover screw and tighten securely.
