C. PLUG IN YOUR APPLIANCE
Plug your 110V appliance into the outlet on
the converter.
ADAPTER PLUGS
In some countries you may encounter a recessed outlet or other shapes of wall outlets, which the converter pins on the Travel Smart
®
converter do not fit. The set of 4 adapter plugs included in this converter set will adapt to most electrical outlets worldwide.
DO NOT USE this converter with electronic devices that are more than 25 watts, such as TVs, computers, power tools, DVD players, fax machines, projectors, or with curling irons, flat irons, etc. that are more than 25 watts.
DO NOT USE this converter with any appliance rated for 110/120 volts that is equipped with an ALCI-ground fault interrupter (reset button). Hair dryers manufactured afterJanuary 1, 1992 may contain an ALCI (ground fault interrupter) which would include electronic circuit components. Therefore, these hair dryers cannot be used with this converter. Please ask your retailer or visit our web site at www.conaircanada.ca for our dual voltage hair dryers.
DO NOT USE converters with power strips. NOTE: If you are unsure if your appliance contains
electronic components, please contact the appliance manufacturer.
A. SELECT PROPER WATT SETTING
Check appliance's rating plate for watts.
If wattage is not indicated simply multiply voltage by amps, i.e. 120V x 3 amps = 360 watts. Then set selector switch to the appropriate setting.
B. INSERT CONVERTER INTO WALL OUTLET
The converter pins on the Travel Smart
®
converter will fit most foreign wall outlets. Plug adapters for other countries are available. Please see
ADAPTER PLUGS section.

INSTRUCTIONS
FOR USE
Appliances that operate on 110/120V will not work in most parts of the world where the voltage is 220/240V. Your Travel Smart
®
by Conair Dual Wattage Converter makes it possible to use your portable appliances almost anywhere in the world. You simply set the LO/HI switch, plug the converter into the wall outlet, plug your appliance into the converter, and turn on your appliance.
All appliances have a wattage rating marked on them and should be checked before using.
LOW WATT SETTING For use with battery chargers, electric shavers, radios, curling irons, etc. that are less than 25 watts. The LO setting can be used for long periods of time with electronic circuitry products that are 0-25 watts, i.e. battery chargers, radios, etc.
HIGH WATT SETTING
For clothes irons, steamers, some hair dryers, etc., from 26 to 2000 watts. DO NOT use the HIGH setting for electronic circuitry products. The HIGH setting is designed to be used only for short periods of time (approximately 30 minutes).
SAFETY WARNINGS
Read and review instructions before using the adapter/converter.
Before using the adapter/converter, check the product you intend to use for the manufacturer’s voltage and/or wattage rating, which should be located on the product.
CAUTION: Adapter plugs alone do not convert voltage. To avoid damaging your appliance, do not use without a voltage converter.
Do not leave converter in the wall outlet when not in use. Please do not continue to use the adapter/ converter combo if it is not working properly, if it has been damaged, or dropped in water.
Some appliances may operate a little more slowly when used in foreign countries operating on 50 cycles (U.S. operates on 60 cycles).
At times there may be a very low humming sound in the converter, appliance, or both. This is normal.
Due to unstable voltage in most foreign countries, if your appliance has a built-in thermostat, it may shut off your appliance prematurely. This does not mean your appliance or converter (or both) are not working properly. After your appliance cools down it should resume operating properly.
