Changing Channels
You can change channels one of three ways:
Press CHANNEL + or – on the front panel of the receiver or the remote
control to step through the channel selection.
Enter the number of the channel you wish to view using the number
keys on the remote control.
Select the channel in the Interactive Program Guide.
Adjusting the Volume
Press VOLUME + or – on the remote control to adjust the volume.
When you adjust the volume, the volume scale is displayed on the
screen. Press MUTE on the remote control to toggle the sound on
and o.
Handy Keys
Press MENU for quick access to settings and other useful features. If
you are looking for something, you will probably nd it in the menu.
Last
Press LAST to return to the previous screen or channel.

A Few Helpful Tips

Yellow is always the highlight color. As you navigate listings
using your remote, the highlight appears on screen to indicate
your current selections.
Press the buttons on your remote to move the highlight.
Press the OK to make your selection.
Press the EXIT button on your remote to return to watching TV.
Remote Control Features
DVR oers the ability to
control your viewing
experience by pausing live
TV and providing trick
playback modes (pause,
fast forward, slow forward,
fast rewind, slow rewind).
How do I...
Pause?
As you watch live TV and
recorded programs, press PAUSE on
your remote and the video on your TV
screen instantly freezes. Your DVR will
remain in pause for up to 90 minutes.
Press PLAY to resume normal play of
the program.
Rewind?
Press REWIND. Press it again up to 4
times to increase the rewind speed.
REW, REW2, REW3 and REW4 will
appear on the box display. REW is
the slowest setting and REW4 is the
fastest. Press REW a fth time or press
play to resume normal play.
Fast Forward?
Press FAST FORWARD to move
forward in the program. Press it up
to 4 times to increase the fast forward speed, FF, FF2, FF3 and FF4 will
appear on the box display. FF is the
slowest setting and FF4 is the fastest.
Note: You can only fast forward up to
the point on live broadcast.
Control Live TV?
Anytime you tune to a channel, the
DVR begins making a temporary
recording of whatever you’re watching. So you can PAUSE if the phone
rings, REWIND the scene you missed
and FAST FORWARD to skip what you
don’t want to watch.
Return to Live TV?
Press the LIVE TV button.
Using the Remote Control Arrow Buttons
The buttons on your remote control will
control playback when you are watching a program
in progess or while watching a recorded program.
Playback Controls
You can play back your video
recording using your remote
through the use of the Video
Control Buttons
Slow Motion
Use Slow Motion to get an
inside look. To activate slowforward, press PAUSE and
then FAST FORWARD. To
use slow-rewind, press PAUSE and the REWIND.
To return to regular speed, press PLAY.
Instant Replay
Press PAGE or REPLAY on your remote to replay the
last 15 seconds. Press PAGE repeatedly to
continue skipping back in 15-second increments.
Build Your Personal Video Library
Follow the steps below to build and manage your
personal video library.
There are 3 ways to set and schedule recordings:
One Touch Record
Press RECORD on your remote any time while
watching TV or while navigating through the guide.
Recording beings immediately at the point you
pressed RECORD for programs airing now. You can
automatically schedule recording for programs
starting at a later time or date by pressing RECORD
while in the listings. Recording will start at the
program’s scheduled start time.
Record From Program Information
From the listings, highlight and select a program,
scheduled for a later time. Press the INFO button
and you will see an information screen. Highlight the
• RECORD icon and press OK to start a recording for
the time the program is scheduled to start.
Manually Schedule a Recording
Step 1: Select DVR from the Main Menu, then
select Set a Recording
Step 2: Select the start and end times and the day
you wish to record and conrm your settings.
Step 3: A channel list will then appear, allowing you
to select the channel to record. Select the
channel you want.
Step 4: A Create a New Recording Screen will appear,
select Creat a Recording to conrm your
settings or select the Recording Options icon
for additional Recording options.

How far back can I rewind or pause live TV?
The pause length depends on what type of channel you are watching. Analog channels
can be paused for 45 minutes (typically below CH. 100). Digital channels (usually above
CH. 100) can be paused for up to 90 minutes. HD channels can be paused for 15 minutes.
Analog channels can be rewound back 45 minutes. Digital channels can be rewound 90
minutes. HD channels can be rewound 15 minutes. In all cases the set top box must have
been tuned to that channel for at least that amount of time.
How many hours of programming can I store on my DVR?
Your DVR can record up to 60 hours of standard denition programming or 15 hours of
high-denition programming. Storage space varies depending on the types of programs
being recorded.
Can I record two programs that air at the same time?
Yes. Your DVR has two tuners which allow you to record two programs at the same time.
You can even watch a program you have previously recorded while recording two other
programs. (Note: if you are recording two programs that air at the same time, you will have
to watch one of the two programs being recorded or a previous recording if you wish to
watch programming on that set top box during the recording time.)
Can I watch a program while I am recording?
Yes. You can watch another live program or a previously recorded program while
recording one other channel.
What if the program I want to record runs beyond its scheduled time slot?
How do I make sure I record everything?
In order to make sure you record an entire program that may run past its scheduled time
slot, you must select End Time from the Recording Options and add minutes or hours to
extend the recording time up to 2 hours. This feature is extremely benecial when
recording live sporting events that often run past the assigned time slot.
Why are there instances when recordings start a minute or two after the
program has begun?
The DVR is synced with TV listings. If a network starts the program a minute earlier or ends
it a minute late, then the DVR will not record the entire program unless the start and/or
end time is adjusted on the Recording Options screen.
Only part of my program recorded. Why?
You may have tuned to the program after it began, the DVR may have reached its storage
capacity before it was able to record the entire program, or the set top box may have lost
power or cable signal during the recording.
How long can I keep my recordings?
Recordings can be stored for as long as you wish. However, please keep in mind that
recording space is limited and you may need to erase some recorded programs from time
to time in order to make room for new recordings.
Does the DVR automatically erase programs when the hard drive is full?
Yes. Programs are automatically erased when space is needed, starting with the oldest
recordings rst. You can reprioritize how recordings are deleted by changing the Delete
Priority Setting.

Record a Series
You can set the DVR to record Only New
Episodes, New & Repeats, and All with
Duplicates.
Step 1: Select the episode type to record,
such as Only New Episodes, New &
Repeats, or All with Duplicates.
Step 2: Specify how many recordings
to save.
Step 3: Specify how long to save the
recording - until I Erase or Space
is Needed.
Step 4: To access advanced series setup
features like adding minutes to the
start and end times and specifying
which channels to record, select the
Setup Icon to review all options.
Your series recordings will appear in your
My Recordings list with the show title as its
label. To change your view, use the (arrow
left/right) buttons on your remote to View
by Date, View by Channel or View by Title.
Record Early or Extend the End Time
Select a program from your list of Scheduled
Recordings. Select the Recording Options
Icon. Arrow down to adjust start and end
times.
Watch a Recording
Press the LIST button to view a list of your
recorded programs. Highlight a program
and press OK. Press the PLAY button on
your remote.
Change Channels When Watching a
Show that Is Recording
When you get a message saying that changing the channel will stop this recording,
press the SWAP button on yor remote to
change tuners. You may now watch another
program without interrupting your recording. All other Picture -In-Picture buttons are
reserved for future use.
View Your List of Scheduled
Recordings
Step 1: From the Main Menu or Quick Menu,
select DVR Menu (Menu label may
vary).
Step 2: Select Future Recordings.
Step 3: See a list of all the programs you
have scheduled to record, select a
title to cancel the scheduled
recording or modify recording
options.
Managing Scheduling Conflicts
If you schedule more than two recordings
for the same time, you will see a Scheduling
Conict screen that allows you to choose
between a previously set recording and the
new recording that is conicting. Individual
recordings always take priority over series
recordings when there are scheduling conicts. In case of a scheduling conict between two series programs, additional icons
will appear at the bottom of the Schedul-
ing Conict screen to help you determine
which program to record.
Step 1: To give your new recording the
highest scheduling priority and to
capture the most number of
episodes for your new recording,
select High.
Step 2: To move the new series back to the
bottom of the scheduling priority
list, select Low. The screen will
refresh and give you revised results.
Step 3: Select the • Record Icon to conrm
your new settings.
Modify the Series Priority List
To help you manage which series get
recorded when there are scheduling
conicts, your DVR automatically creates a
Series Priority List. The rst series you set
to record has the highest priority and is the
program recording in case of a conict. You
can easily change the recording priority of
the programs so that the programs or your
choice are recorded in case of a conict.
Step 1: Select DVR from the Main Menu
or Quick Menu.
Step 2: Choose Series Priority.
Step 3: Highlight a program and use the
PAGE +/- buttons on your remote to
modify its priority level.
Fast Facts About your DVR
• DVR is set to save programs until Space is
Needed. You can change the delete priority
to I Delete for all programs or for individual
programs.
• You can easily determine how much
disk space is available by accessing DVR
Recordings. The blue bar indicates how
much disk space is occupied.
• Parental Locks will not prevent a program
from recording. However, the audio is muted and no video appears while it records.
• You can record music channels. However,
the playback controls are not functional for
recorded music.
