#7153, 7153-5 Stock Timing Chain Removal and Double Timing Chain Install
Thank you for choosing COMP Cams® products; we are proud to be your manufacturer of choice. Please read
this instruction sheet carefully before beginning installation, and also take a moment to review the included
limited warranty information.
Stock Timing Chain Removal
1. Remove front accessories.
2. Remove timing chain cover and roll your engine over until it’s dot to dot.
3. Remove oil pan bolts, leaving the rear one on each side only halfway out. This allows the oil pan to drop
down so that you may gain access to remove pickup tube bolt (10mm).

bearing, along with new lower timing gear with 9 keyways (black), oil pump drive (silver) and two oil
pump spacers to move the chain away from the oil pump.
2. Take the lower timing gear, and set it to the desired cam position (advanced, straight up, retarted).
Locate your selection on the inner set of numbers on the lower timing gear, and slide it on the crankshaft
so your selected (inner) number goes over the crankshaft keyway.
