1Press the Power button to turn off the computer.
2Disconnect all cables and remove all items from the
computer:
zDisconnect cables for power, keyboard, mouse,
monitor, etc.
zRemove items such as memory cards, USB
drives, etc.
4Grasp the handle on the side cover and pull towards
the back of the computer. Slide the cover about
2.4 cm (1 inch) to remove it.
3Remove the side cover by loosening the screw that
connects the cover to the computer.
5Remove the side panel by lifting it away from the
computer.

6Pull each of the three side tabs that secure the front
bezel to the computer, to release the front bezel.
7Swing the front bezel out to remove from the computer.

1To replace the front bezel, align the left side of the
bezel and swing the front bezel toward the computer
to close it.
2The side panel has several tabs on its top, bottom, and

5Reattach the thumb screw at the back of the computer.
4To reattach the panel, align the tabs on the panel over
the corresponding slots on the computer and lay the
panel into place. Slide the side cover forward.

Ethernet, and monitor cables.
7Reconnect the power cord.
8Turn on the computer and all peripherals, such as the
monitor.

Removing Memory

8Push down the retaining clip on each end of the
memory socket to release the memory module.
9Touching only the memory module, lift it out of the
socket.
Replacing Memory
NOTE: The new (replacement) part may not look exactly

1Touching only the top edge of the memory module,
locate the notch at the bottom edge.
NOTE: Each type of memory has a different notch
position. Incompatible memory modules cannot be
installed in the memory socket.
2Look at the memory module socket for the tab that
matches the notch on the memory module.

3Position the memory module over the socket, aligning
the notch with the tab in the socket, and then firmly
press the module down into the socket.
...until the retaining clips at the ends of the socket lock
the module into place.

4Set the computer upright.

11 Push the drive slightly forward.
12 Disconnect the power (1) and data (2) cables by
squeezing the latch on the connector and pulling to
remove.
13 Pull the disc drive out through the front of the
computer.

1Push the replacement disc drive partially into the drive
bay in the computer.
4Replace the drive screws.

holes (marked “2”).

10 Remove the two screws that secure the hard disk drive
to the computer.
11 Pull the hard drive out of the front of the computer.
12 Remove the hard drive from the computer.
13 Carefully remove the replacement hard disk drive from
the electrostatic bag and place the failed hard disk
drive into the bag.

1Slide the replacement hard disk drive into the bay.
3Attach the two screws to secure the hard disk drive to
the bay.
4Attach the power and data connectors to the back of
the drive.
2Align the screw holes on the side of the hard drive with
the holes marked “HDD” on the bay.

to release it.
11 Remove the graphics card from the card slot.
13 Lift the card out of the computer.
14 If present, remove any cables connected to the
add-in card.
12 For other add-in cards, move the card back and forth

6Before removing the power supply carefully note its
orientation in the computer.
IMPORTANT: The replacement power supply will
need to be placed in the same position.
IMPORTANT: Noting the location, type and orientation
of the power connectors is extremely important! Failure to
correctly restore all power connectors appropriately will
prevent the computer or components from working
successfully.
NOTE: The location of the power connectors on the
motherboard may vary from the ones shown below.
9Trace the power supply cables to the system
components:
zOptical disc drives (A)
7Place the computer on its side.
8Locate the power supply at the top of the computer.
zHard disk drives (B)
zMotherboard main power (C)
zMotherboard fan (D).
10 Disconnect the power cable from the optical disc and
hard disk drives by squeezing the latch (1) on the
connectors and pulling to remove.

11 The motherboard power connector has a latch that
must be pressed to detach the connector from the
motherboard.
12 Detach the motherboard power connector from the
motherboard.
13 Some connectors may have latches that must be
pressed to remove them.
14 Remove all other power connectors from the

15 Set the computer upright.
16 Detach the four screws that connect the power supply
to the computer.
18 Pull the power supply back and tilt it out of the
computer.
17 Use a screwdriver to press the latch at the bottom of
the power supply to release it.

Never attempt to work within the power supply unit.

the same way as the original power supply. Align it
towards the guide and the ledge, then slide it back
until it locks into place next to the latch.

4Reconnect all power connectors to system components
