Unit Identification System
The TaskSmart W2200 appliance server has a two-feature unit identification
system. These conventions provide a visual reference for service personnel.
The unit identification system is a tool that relieves the burden of i dentifying a
specific appliance within a multiple appliance location.
The first recognition feature allows a user to illuminate the unit identification
LED from all remote mana gement locat ions. The a ppliance LED can be turned
on and off by using the Web Server Configuration Applic ation as a
management menu item.
The unit identification switch is the second feature. Each TaskSmart W2200
appliance server has two switches, one on the front of the server and one on
the back of the server. When activated from either the front or the back of the
server, the unit identification switches illuminate both the front and the back
unit identification LEDs.
When moving between the front and rear of a rack filled with
TaskSmart W2200 appliance servers, you can use the unit identification
switches to quickly identify one or more TaskSmart W2200 app liance servers
that require service or maintenance.
Figure 1-2 and Table 1-2 show the locati ons of the front and rear unit
identification switches, and LED indica t ors.

External Cabling
This section provides guidelines that help you to make informed decisions
about cabling your TaskSmart W2200 appliance server for optimal
performance. Use this section along with the technical information on the rack
installation and connection card, po st ers, and other documentation provided
for complete and comprehensive information.
Connecting the Power Cord and Peripheral Devices
Rear panel cabling on the TaskSmart W2200 appliance server must always be
connected and disconnected in a specific sequence. For a detailed explanation
of connectors and the proper cabling sequence, refer to the rack installation
and connection card.
CAUTION: Always follow the cabling order for the TaskSmart W2200 appliance
server. Using an improper cabling sequence can result in electrical damage to
peripheral devices.
Routing the Power Cord and Peripheral Device
Cables
Cords and cables connected to the server rear panel are routed through a fixed
cable tray. The cable tray prevents loose cabling in the rear of the rack and
protects connectors from damage that results when cables are improperly
disconnected.
When multiple TaskSmart W2200 appliance servers are installed into a rack,
the fixed cable trays effectively organize the rear panel cabling. See
Figure 2-5.

Appendix A
Federal Communications Commission
Notice-United States Only
Part 15 of the Federal Communic ations Commi ssion (FCC) Rule s and
Regulations has establishe d Radio Frequency (RF) emission limits to provide
an interference-free radio frequency spectrum. Many electronic devices,
including computers, generate RF energy incidental to their intended function
and are, therefore, covered by these rules. These rules place computers and
related peripheral devic es into two Classes, A and B, depending upon their
intended installation. Class A devices are those that may reasonably be
expected to be installed in a business or commercial envi ronment. Class B
devices are those that may reasonably be expected to be installed in a
residential environment (personal c omputers).
A-2 Compaq TaskSmart W2200 Appliance Server System Reference Guide
The FCC requires devices in both Classes to bear labels indicating the
interference potential as well as additional operating instructions for the user.
The rating label on the device shows the Class (A or B) into which the
equipment is categorized. Class B devices have a FCC logo or FCC ID on the
label. Class A devices do n ot have an FCC logo or FCC ID on the label. After
determining the Class of your device, refer to the corresponding C lass
statements.
Class A Equipment
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a

and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference
to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is
likely to cause harmful interference, in which case the user must correct the
interference at personal expense.
Class B Equipment
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the F CC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a
residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radi o
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instructions, may cause harmful interf erence to radio communicati ons.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular
installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or
television reception, which can be determined when the equipment is turned
off and on, the user is encouraged to correct the interference by one or more of
the following measures:
Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.
Connect the equipment to an outlet on a circuit different from that to
which the receiver is connected.
Consult the dealer or an experienced radio or television technician
for help.

Keep electrostatic-sensitive parts in their containers until they arrive at
static-free workstations.
Place parts on a grounded (earthed) surface before removing them from
their containers.
Avoid touc hing pins, le ads, or circuitry.
Always be properly grounded when touching a static -sensitive
component or assembly.
B-2 Compaq TaskSmart W2200 Appliance Server System Reference Guide
Grounding Methods
Several meth ods are availabl e for ground ing. Use one or more of the following
methods when handling or installing electrostatic-sensitive parts:
Use a wrist strap connected by a ground cord to a grounded (earthed)
workstation or computer chassis. Wrist straps are flexible straps with a
minimum of 1 megohm
provide pr oper ground, wear the strap snugly agai nst the skin.
Use heel straps, toe straps, or boot straps at standing workstations. Wear
the straps on both feet when st anding on conductive floors or dissipati ng
floor mats.
Use conduct ive field service tools.
Use a portable field service kit with a folding static-dissipating
work mat.
If you do not have any of the suggested equipment for proper grou nding, have
a Compaq authorized reseller install the part.
NOTE: For more information on static electricity or for assistance with product
installation, contact your Compaq authorized reseller.
