TheradiatedoutputpowerofyourcomputerisbelowtheFCCradiofrequency
exposurelimits.Nevertheless,itshouldbeusedinsuchamannerthatthepotential
forhumancontactisminimizedduringnormaloperationofyourcomputer.

CAUTION:
TheradiatedenergyfromtheantennasconformstotheFCClimitoftheSAR
(SpecicAbsorptionRate)requirementregarding47CFRPart2Section
1093,whenthecomputeroperatesintheconventionalsetting.TheSAR
isdeterminedtomeasureatthehighestpowerlevelineachfrequency
band.However,theactualSARlevelofThinkPadS230uinthecellular
operationbandsiswellbelowthemaximumvalueinsomemeasurement
plots.BecauseThinkPadS230uadjuststhecellulartransmissionpower
automaticallybasedupontheproximitytothehumanbodyandorientation.
Namely,thecloserdistancetoyoufromThinkPadS230uwilllowerthe
cellulartransmissionpowerlevel.ThinkPadS230uhasbeentestedand
foundtomeettheFCCRFexposureguidelines.

EmergencyCalls

ThewirelessWANfeaturedoesnotsupportvoicecalls,hencetheirusefor
essentialcommunicationisnotpossible,includingemergencycallsregarding
theE911rule.

SimultaneoususeofRFtransmitters

YourcomputerisapprovedforsimultaneoususeoftheintegratedwirelessLAN,
WiMAX,wirelessWAN,andBluetoothtransmitters.

Makesureofthefollowingconditionswhenyouuseanyotherexternalwireless
optiondevice:

•WhenyouuseanyotherRFoptiondevice,youarerequestedtoconrmthat
thedeviceconformstotheRFSafetyrequirementandisapprovedtouse
foryourcomputer.

•YoumustfollowtheRFSafetyinstructionsofwirelessoptiondevicesthatare
includedintheusermanualoftheRFoptiondevice.

•Ifwirelessoptionsareprohibitedtouseinconjunctionwithanother
transmitters,youmustturnoffallotherwirelessfeaturesinyourcomputer.

RadioFrequencyinterferencerequirements

EachdevicehasbeentestedandfoundtocomplywiththelimitsforaClassB

WhenyouusethewirelessLANCard,thewirelessLANandWiMAXComboCard,
orthewirelessLANandBluetoothComboCardinthe802.11a/ntransmission
mode:

•Eachdeviceisrestrictedtoindooruseduetoitsoperationinthe5150to5250
MHzfrequencyrange.FCCrequirestheseproductstobeusedindoorsfor
thefrequencyrange5150to5250MHztoreducethepotentialforharmful
interferencetoco-channelMobileSatellitesystems.

•Highpowerradarsareallocatedasprimaryusersofthe5250to5350MHzand
5650to5850MHzbands.Theseradarstationscancauseinterferencewith
and/ordamagethisdevice.
