Commercial Design ceiling loudspeakers include a standard prole
4.5-inch, 6.5-inch and 8-inch two-way model, as well as a low prole
4.5-inch loudspeaker in a shallow back can. The 6.5-inch model is
also available in a standard black nish version for nightclubs, bars,
restaurants or any application requiring a black ceiling system.
These are true coaxial loudspeakers, which means a real compression
driver is concentrically arranged so that the upper frequencies emerge
through the center of the low-frequency driver’s magnetic structure
and cone via a precisely tapered Tru-Phase™ high-frequency waveguide.
This special construction provides consistent, wide dispersion up to
16 kHz, all but eliminating high-frequency narrowing. Reection and
diffraction problems at multiple frequencies, often found in ceiling
loudspeakers at this price point attempting to emulate a true coaxial
design, are altogether eliminated. CDS ceiling systems feature a genuine
coaxial design using separate magnets for the LF and HF drivers for
reduced distortion and high sensitivity, thereby permitting up to 3 dB
greater output level while requiring up to half the amplication power
of competing products. If deeper low frequency response is required, a
D10SUB or DS8SUB subwoofer from Community’s Distributed Design
Series family may be added.
Commercial Design ceiling loudspeaker systems are designed with
place-through-the-cutout Tile Support Bridge Rails and their snap-on
spacers, as well as Drop-Stop™ installation assistant tabs to facilitate
quick installation. Since the loudspeaker is pre-assembled in the back
can with its crossover network, and pre-wired to an external Euro
connector, the installer can simply insert a unit into the ceiling to snap it
in place. This leaves both hands free to tighten the two clamp actuator
screws, adjust the front-face power setting dial, and snap on the grille.
In addition, the Commercial Design family includes a 6.5-inch full-range
pendant mount loudspeaker utilizing the same components as the
6.5-inch C6 ceiling model and CS6 surface mount model. Featuring the
same high sensitivity and realistic sound reproduction, the CP6 pendant
loudspeaker is also equipped with a built-in autoformer, allowing the
full loudspeaker output to be realized with 70V or 100V distribution
lines. An easy-access selector switch is conveniently located on the face
of the loudspeaker for selectable 8 ohm or 70V/100V operation, while
an integrated rear cover hides all wiring and hanging hardware for an
aesthetically pleasing installation.
Two 15-foot (4.5m) long 2mm (0.77”) high tensile galvanized steel
wire rope suspension cables with integrated spring clips for attaching
the cable to the enclosure are included, along with Gripple
adjustable height cable fasteners. Optional accessories include 30ft
(9.1m) and 50ft (15.2m) hang kits, replacement Gripple speed clamps
and trimmable 14ft (4.3m) decorative split loom tubing.
The CP6 is designed for open architecture spaces or any location
where a stylish pendant form factor is desired, providing high quality
paging and musical performance suitable for retail environments,
restaurants, resorts, and numerous other applications.

The Commercial Design Series (CDS) is a comprehensive family of cost-effective ceiling, pendant and
surface mount loudspeakers that deliver exceptionally high quality sound, with predictable and uniform
coverage. Comprised of 4.5-inch, 6.5-inch and 8-inch form factors, all members of the Commercial
Design Series share similar high performance components for uniform voicing throughout the series.
This means that various members of the CDS family can be combined in a single installation without
compromising consistency from zone to zone. CDS loudspeakers further benet from similar voicing
and acoustic performance to Community’s premium Distributed Design Series, allowing consistency
in applications where members of both loudspeaker families are used. CDS loudspeakers are easy
to install with labor-saving features and are very competitively priced for loudspeaker systems in its
performance class.
All ceiling models in the Commercial Design Series are ETL listed to
comply with UL1480, UL2043 and CSA60065, with quality assured
by Community’s long history of building high performance, durable
loudspeakers for sound reinforcement and contracting applications.
Each model accommodates 8-ohm as well as 70V/100V applications.
All Commercial Design models feature Community’s
Tru-Phase™ high frequency waveguide for greater
coverage consistency. Upper frequencies emerge
through the center of the LF driver’s magnetic structure
and cone through this proprietary phase plug to deliver
consistent, wide dispersion up to 16 kHz.
SURFACE MOUNT SYSTEMS
Surface mount loudspeakers in the Commercial Design Series include
two-way 4.5-inch, 6.5-inch and 8-inch full-range loudspeakers in
standard black and white nishes. Easily outperforming loudspeakers of
a larger size format, the CS4, CS6 and CS8 provide high power handling,
high sensitivity and realistic sound reproduction.
These loudspeakers feature a modern, streamlined design and are
equipped with a built-in autoformer, allowing large numbers of
distributed loudspeakers to be powered from a 70V or 100V amplier
output. The black or white cabinets are furthermore easy to customize
since they accept a wide variety of paints. For durability and improved
sonic quality, these longitudinally cross-braced cabinets have thick-walls
and internally reinforced ABS plastic construction. This high-impact
strength construction and internal ribbing reduces resonances. A
convenient front-accessible power tap switch is hidden behind a
rotatable logo. Installation is simple and exible using the included
multi-angle pan-tilt bracket which allows low prole mounting and
precise positioning of the enclosure in either horizontal or vertical
orientation.
