1. General Information.
The 100UTP tap avoids downtime in your 10/100BaseT
networks. Once in place it enables you to monitor full and half
duplex communication and move test equipment without
breaking the circuit. It mirrors any packet size, bad CRC,
VLAN traffic, sees both ends of full-duplex links.
It is a single port 10BaseT/100BaseTX Tap for half/full duplex
Ethernet networks. The “no package loss” and redundant
power feature makes it ideal for security applications.
The 100UTP tap is invisible to the network and forwards
IEEE 802.3af power (PoE) between the connected network
devices. It is fault tolerant, bypasses data on power failure,
the monitor (TAP) ports are none-intrusive to the network.

2. Functional description
2.1 Interface connectors
It has 4 RJ45 ports, port A and B are connected to the
network, TAP ports A and B are connected to the analyzer.
Network ports A and B are hardware wired together.
2.2 Activity/Link
Two LEDS indicate Activity in 10Mb and Link in 100Mb speed.
Activity LED A lights up when a signal is received at port A,
LED B for a signal received at port B. The brightness of the
Activity LED show signal strength.
2.3 Power over Ethernet (802.3af)
The unit is 802.3af compliant and forward PoE in the Network.
The tap ports are galvanically separated from the network
ports and in such way protecting your monitoring equipment.
At least 10 volt is needed for the PoE LEDs to light.
PoE LED 1 shows power between pairs 1/2 and 3/6.
PoE LED 2 shows power between pairs 4/5 and 7/8.
2.4 Power
The 100UTP tap is redundant powered from the back. The
external power can be chained as each power has 2 input
sockets. Using redundant powering guarantees a maximum
uptime off the tap/monitor ports. Two LEDs show the
presence of power.

2.5 Power Failure
The uninterrupted link in the network guarantees permanent
network connectivity, also when power fails. Redundant
powering guarantees maximum uptime of the monitor ports.
No data is passed to the TAP ports at power failure.
3. Installation
a. Power the unit using the 12V PSU, the Power LED lights
b. Connect it into the network using Category 5 UTP cables.
Network Port A : to DCE by straight Cable / to DTE by cross-over cable.
Network Port B : to DTE by straight Cable / to DCE by cross-over cable.
TAP port A and B : to analyzer through straight cables (pins 3/6 active).
The maximum distance between any of the connected devices is 90mtr.
TAP port A mirrors data received in Port A, TAP port B mirrors data
received in Port B.

4. Rack modules.
The 100UTP rack modules are designed to fit, together with
rack mount plates, in 19 inch rack Systems. The 100UTP rack
modules do not include one AC adapter as several units can
be Power chained. The Rack modules plug easily in the rack
mount plates.
