WELCOME TO XFINITY® SPECTRUM
The XFINITY® Spectrum™ universal remote control works exclusively with the XFINITY Spectrum set-top box supplied by Comcast. This remote control operates all the features and functions of the set-top box and is programmable to operate the Volume and Power of your TV or audio device.
Installing Batteries
Use the following process to install the batteries.
1. Pull back and remove the remote control’s battery cover.
2. Insert the two supplied A A batteries aligning the + and - on the batteries with those in the battery compartment.
3. Push the battery cover back into place.
4. Test the unit by pressing the Power key.
5. If the batteries are inserted correctly, the green light blinks twice.
Note: When batteries need replacement, the red light blinks five times each time you press a key. Replace the old batteries with new AA batteries.
Pairing the Remote
Your remote is capable of RF communication with your set-top box. This allows the box to respond to the remote from a greater distance, and even if the set-top box is not in the remote’s line of sight (for example, if you want to place the set-top box in a cabinet). Put the remote control in RF mode by using the following pairing process.
1. Press both oval buttons on the front of the set-top box until the on-screen message indicates the set-top box is ready for pairing.
2. Point the remote at the set-top box and press the XFINITY button on the remote until an on-screen message indicates that the pairing process is completed.
3. Once the pairing process is completed, the green light blinks twice.
4. Press the OK/Select button on the remote to clear the on-screen display.
Using the Remote for TV and Audio Devices
You can program your remote to control your TV, an audio device, such as an amplifier, or both. If you program the remote to control both devices, then the Power and Volume buttons send signals to both devices simultaneously.
Programming the remote for both a TV and an audio device works best when you can disable your TV’s speakers and direct TV sound to your audio device. If you cannot disable your TV’s speakers, Comcast recommends programming the remote to control only your TV.
Programming TV Control
The remote contains a universal TV library and can be programmed to operate the Power and Volume controls of your TV.
1. Turn on the TV you want to control.
2. Press and hold the Delete button until the green light under the Power button blinks twice.
3. See Setup Codes for TVs to find the brand name of the TV you want to control. Enter the first five-digit code for your brand of TV. If performed correctly, the green light under the Power button blinks twice.
Note: If the green light emits one long blink, repeat steps 2 and 3, entering the same code.
4. Point the remote at the TV and press the Power button. If the TV turns off, you have found the correct code. If the TV does not respond, repeat steps 2-4 trying each code listed for your brand of TV.
5. Press and hold the Delete button until the green light under the Power button blinks twice.

7. Point the remote at the audio device and press the Power button. If the audio device turns off you have found the correct code. If the audio device does not respond, repeat steps 2-4, trying each code listed for your brand of audio device. If none of the codes work, see Searching for a Device Code below.
Programming Audio Control
The remote contains a universal audio library and can be programmed to operate the Power and Volume controls of your audio device, such as an amplifier.
1. Turn on the audio device you want to control.
2. Press and hold the Delete button until the green light under the Power button blinks twice.
3. See Setup Codes for Audio Devices to find the brand name of the audio device you want to control. Enter the first five-digit code for your brand of audio device. If performed correctly, the green light under the Power button blinks twice.
Note: If the green light emits one long blink, repeat steps 2 and 3, entering the same code.
4. Point the remote at the audio device and press the Power button. If the audio device turns off you have found the correct code. If the audio device does not respond, repeat steps 2-4, trying each code listed for your brand of audio device. If none of the codes work, see Searching for a Device Code below.
Searching for a Device Code
If the brand of your TV or audio device is not listed in the code list, try searching for your code.
1. Turn on your TV or audio device.
2. Press and hold the Delete button until the green light under the Power key blinks twice.
3. Press 9 9 1. The green light under the Power button blinks twice.
4. Press 1 to search for a TV, or press 3 to search for an audio device.
5. While pointing the remote control at the device, press and release Channel + until the device turns off. You may need to press Channel + numerous times.
Note: In the search mode, the remote control sends IR codes from its library to the target device.
6. Press OK/Select to lock in the code.
If you have set up the remote control using this procedure, you may need to find out which five-digit code is operating your TV or audio device. Perform the following steps after setting up your TV or audio device to find out which five-digit code operates it.
1. Press and hold the Delete button until the green light under the Power key blinks twice.
2. Press 9 9 0. The green light under the Power button blinks twice.
3. Press 1 to search for a TV, or press 3 to search for an audio device.
4. To view the code for the first digit, press 1 once. Wait three seconds and count the number of times the green light blinks (e.g., three blinks =3) and write down the number in the TV Code or Audio Code boxes below.
Note: If a code digit is “0”, the green light under the Power button does not blink.
5. Repeat step 3 four more times for the remaining digits. Use 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third digit, 4 for the fourth digit and 5 for the fifth digit. Finish writing down the code in the TV Code or Audio Code boxes below.

Updating Your Remote
Your remote can receive software updates directly from the set-top box. When a software update is available, you see an on-screen prompt asking you if you want to accept the update now or later.
When you choose to accept the update, your remote control is disabled until the update is complete. The Power button will blink pink while the update is in progress. The Power button will blink green twice when the update is complete and the remote is ready to use.
Additional Information
The remote control does not have any user serviceable parts. Opening the case, except for the battery cover, may cause permanent damage to your remote control.
