1 Sicherheit
1.1 Gefahren der Staub- und Wassersauger
Dieser columbus Staub- und Wassersauger ist nach dem Stand der Technik und
anerkannten sicherheitstechnischen Regeln gefertigt. Dennoch können bei unsachgemäßer
Verwendung Gefahren für Personen, sowie die Beeinträchtigung des Gerätes und anderer
Sachwerte entstehen. Beim Arbeiten mit dem Staubsauger ist auf Dritte, insbesondere auf
Kinder, zu achten.
1.2 Sicherheitshinweise in dieser Betriebsanleitung
Sicherheitshinweise in dieser Anleitung sind wie folgt gekennzeichnet:
GEFAHR! Bezeichnet eine unmittelbar drohende Gefahr. Wenn Sie diese nicht
meiden, können Tod oder schwerste Verletzung die Folge sein.
VORSICHT! Bezeichnet eine möglicherweise gefährliche Situation. Wenn Sie
diese nicht meiden, können Verletzungen die Folge sein.
WICHTIG! Bezeichnet wichtige Anwendungshinweise und Informationen. Bei
Nichtbeachtung können Schäden die Folge sein.
1.3 Sicherheitshinweise für netzbetriebene Geräte
Achten Sie darauf, dass die Netzanschlussleitung nicht durch Quetschen, Zerren, Reiben
oder dergleichen beschädigt wird. Die Netzanschlussleitung muss regelmäßig auf Schäden
(Blankstellen, Schmorstellen, usw.) geprüft werden. Vor Pflege- und Wartungsarbeiten am
Gerät, oder beim Wechseln von Zubehör, immer den Netzstecker ziehen!
Beim Auswechseln von Anschlussleitungen, Steckern, Kupplungen, Sicherungen oder
Steckdosen müssen die vom Hersteller vorgegebenen technischen Daten eingehalten, bzw.
Originalersatzteile verwendet werden. Die mechanische Festigkeit und der
Spritzwasserschutz müssen gewährleistet sein.
Das Gerät darf nicht benutzt werden, falls der Zustand der Anschlussleitung nicht einwandfrei
ist.
1.4 Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Dieser columbus Sauger ist ausschließlich bestimmt zum Nasssaugen (Wasser) und
Trockensaugen (Staubsaugen) von Stäuben im Innenbereich von Gebäuden. Er ist nicht
bestimmt zum Staubsaugen (Trockensaugen) und Reinigen von Objekten, an denen
gesundheitsgefährdende Stäube haften. Benutzung im Freien ist nur dann erlaubt, wenn das
Gerät gegen Witterungseinflüsse (besonders gegen Regen) geschützt ist. Jeder darüber
hinausgehende Gebrauch gilt als nicht bestimmungsgemäß. Für hieraus resultierende
Schäden haftet der Hersteller nicht; das Risiko hierfür trägt allein der Benutzer. Zur
bestimmungsgemäßen Verwendung gehört auch die Einhaltung der vom Hersteller
vorgeschriebene Betriebs-, Wartungs- und Instandhaltungsanleitungen. Der Sauger darf nur
von Personen genutzt, gewartet und instandgesetzt werden, die hiermit vertraut und über die
Gefahren unterrichtet sind. Die einschlägigen Unfallverhütungsvorschriften, sowie die
sonstigen allgemein anerkannten sicherheitstechnischen und arbeitsmedizinischen Regeln,
sind einzuhalten. Eigenmächtige Veränderungen am Gerät schließen eine Haftung des
Herstellers für daraus resultierende Schäden aus.
1.5 Produkthaftung
Der Bediener wird ausdrücklich darauf hingewiesen, dass das Gerät ausschließlich
bestimmungsgemäß eingesetzt werden darf. Für den Fall, dass das Gerät nicht

bestimmungsgemäß eingesetzt wird, geschieht dies in der alleinigen Verantwortung des
Anwenders. Jegliche Haftung des Herstellers entfällt somit.
1.6 Gefahrenquellen
Fahren Sie vorsichtig über Schwellen und Absätze, es können sonst Schäden
an den Rädern bzw. den Düsen entstehen.
Das Gerät ist vor Frost, Nässe und langandauernder, ungehinderter
Sonneneinstrahlung zu schützen.
1.7 Arbeitsplatz
Der Arbeitsplatz befindet sich am Handgriff des Saugschlauches.
1.8 Zugelassenes Wartungspersonal
Dieser columbus Sauger darf nur von Personen gewartet und instandgesetzt werden, die
über fachliche und gesetzliche Legitimationen verfügen.
1.9 Verhalten im Notfall
Netzstecker ziehen.
2 Beschreibung
Dieser columbus Staub- und Wassersauger wird mit seinem Standard-Zubehör eingesetzt
zum Nasssaugen im Innenbereich von Gebäuden. Für weitere Einsatzfälle, insbesondere
Trockensaugen (Staubsaugen) gibt es weiteres umfangreiches columbus-Zubehör.
Er ist nicht geeignet zum Nasssaugen von entzündbaren Flüssigkeiten, Staubsaugen
(Trockensaugen) und Reinigen von Objekten, an denen gesundheitsgefährdende Stäube
oder Flüssigkeiten haften. Eine Benutzung im Freien ist nur erlaubt, wenn das Gerät gegen
Witterungseinflüsse geschützt ist.
3 Anlieferung
Um einen sicheren Transport zu gewährleisten, wird der Sauger vormontiert angeliefert.
Bitte prüfen Sie die Vollständigkeit der Lieferung.

4 Inbetriebnahme
4.1 Saugschlauch anschließen
Ein Ende des Saugschlauchs wird in den Anschlussstutzen des Saugbehälters, das andere
Ende wird auf das Saugrohr gesteckt (jeweils durch leichte Drehung festziehen).
4.2 Rohrsaugdüse anschließen
Die Rohrsaugdüse wird auf den eingezogenen Konus des Saugrohres gesteckt.
4.3 Umrüsten zum Trockensaugen (Staubsaugen)
Rohrsaugdüse mit Bürststreifen ausrüsten (Sonder-Zubehör).
Stofffilter einsetzen (Sonder-Zubehör). Dazu das Gerät ausschalten, die beiden Spannbügel
am Behälter öffnen und den Saugkopf abnehmen. Das Stofffilter mit seinem äußeren Ring in
die zugehörige Ringnut des Behälters exakt einlegen.

Das Stofffilter muss so in den Behälter eingesetzt werden, dass die über die
Nähte vorstehenden Säume nicht sichtbar sind.
Dann Saugkopf aufsetzen und mit den beiden Spannbügeln festklammern.
Sonder-Zubehör zum Staubsaugen von Hartboden- und Teppichbodenflächen, finden Sie im
columbus-Zubehör-Programm.
4.4 Elektro-Saugbürste anschließen (Sonder-Zubehör)
Dazu sind besondere Saugrohre und ein besonderer Saugschlauch erforderlich.
Der eingezogene Konus des besonderen Saugrohres wird in den Anschluss-Stutzen der
Elektro-Saugbürste gesteckt. Das Saugrohr wird zusätzlich mit einer Klemmschraube
befestigt.
Das Anschlusskabel wird mit 6 Clips am Saugschlauch festgemacht. (Zuerst die Clips am
Anschlusskabel und dann am Saugschlauch befestigen).
Zum elektrischen Anschließen der Elektro-Saugbürste muss das Gerät
ausgeschaltet sein.
Das Anschlusskabel der Elektro-Saugbürste wird an der Steckdose am Saugkopf (mit einer
Klappe gegen Eindringen von Feuchtigkeit geschützt) angeschlossen.
Aus Sicherheitsgründen darf nur die von uns empfohlene Elektro-Saugbürste verwendet
werden.
5 Arbeitsweise
Ein- und Ausschalten der Geräte erfolgt mit dem Wippschalter am Saugkopf. Eine
angeschlossene Elektro-Saugbürste wird hierbei ebenfalls ein und ausgeschaltet.
5.1 Arbeiten mit der Elektrosaugbürste
Um Beschädigungen des Teppichs zu vermeiden, muss die Elektrosaugbürste,
bei laufendem Motor, immer auf dem Teppich bewegt werden. Kurze
Stillstandzeiten (z.B. Richtungsumkehr) sind unbedenklich.
Die beste Reinigungswirkung wird erzielt, wenn die Elektrosaugbürste rückwärts gezogen
wird.
5.2 Arbeiten mit der Bodendüse (Sonder-Zubehör Trockensaugen)
Die Bodendüse kann zum Absaugen sowohl von textilen Belägen als auch von Hartböden
verwendet werden.
Zum Arbeiten auf textilen Böden wird der links vom Saugrohr befindliche Kipphebel nach
vorn gekippt. Dadurch wird der Bürstenrand eingezogen.
Zum Arbeiten auf Hartböden wird der links vom Saugrohr befindliche Kipphebel nach hinten
gekippt. Dadurch wird der Bürstenrand ausgefahren.
5.3 Behälter entleeren
5.3.1 Nasssaugen
Wenn der am Saugkopf befindliche Schwimmer den Saugluftstrom unterbricht (erkennbar am
veränderten Luftgeräusch des Saugmotors), ist das Gerät auszuschalten und der Behälter zu
entleeren. Dazu die beiden Spannbügel am Behälter öffnen und den Saugkopf abnehmen.

5.3.2 Trockensaugen
Nachlassende Saugleistung zeigt an, dass der Behälter entleert und/oder das Stofffilter
gereinigt werden muss.
Bei hohem Feinstaubanteil können die Poren des Stofffilters bereits weitgehend verstopft
sein, obwohl der Behälter nur teilweise gefüllt ist.
Zum Reinigen des Stofffilters genügt es gewöhnlich, dieses gründlich auszuklopfen. Starke
Staubbeläge vorher mit einer weichen Bürste abbürsten.
6 Arbeitsende
Nach Beendigung der Arbeit den Netzstecker ziehen und die Anschlussleitung aufwickeln.
Den Sauger bis zum nächsten Gebrauch in einem trockenen, frostfreien Raum aufbewahren.
7 Pflege, Wartung und Instandsetzung
Alle Arbeiten sind sorgfältig durchzuführen.
Wartungsarbeiten, sowie Instandsetzungsarbeiten jeglicher Art dürfen nur durch zugelassene
Kundendienststellen oder durch sachkundige Personen unter Beachtung aller hier relevanter
Sicherheitsvorschriften vorgenommen werden.
Zu Beginn sämtlicher Pflege-, Wartungs- und Instandsetzungsarbeiten muss der
Netzstecker gezogen sein!
Der Saugkopf darf nur mit einem trockenen oder leicht angefeuchteten Tuch (ggf. mit Zusatz
von milden Reinigungsmitteln) gereinigt werden. Das Eindringen von Wasser muss völlig
ausgeschlossen sein.
Behälter mit klarem Wasser und weicher Bürste ausspülen und mit einem trockenen Tuch
gut abreiben. Schließen Sie den Behälter nicht, damit alle Teile richtig abtrocknen können.
Den Saugschlauch herausschrauben, Bodendüse und Saugrohr auf größere
Schmutzablagerungen oder Verstopfung untersuchen, gegebenenfalls reinigen.
Saugschlauch auf Undichtheit oder Abknickung kontrollieren.
Prüfen Sie regelmäßig Netzanschlussleitungen und Steckverbindungen und die Schutzkappe
am Wippschalter auf Beschädigung.

1 Security
1.1 Dangers of the Vacuum Cleaners and Water Aspirators
This columbus vacuum cleaner and water aspirator is manufactured to the state of the art
and to the recognised safety regulations. Nevertheless, with improper use, dangers to
persons, as well as damage to the device and other property could occur. When working with
the vacuum cleaner, be observant towards third persons, especially children.
1.2 Safety Designations in this Operating Manual
The safety instructions in this manual are designated as follows:
DANGER! Designates an immediately
threat of danger. Death or serious injury
may result if this hazard is not avoided.
CAUTION! Designates a potential danger. Injury may result if this hazard is not
avoided.
IMPORTANT! Designates urgent hints and information. Injury on objects may
result if this hazard is not avoided.
1.3 Safety Instructions for Mains Operated Devices
Take care that the mains lead is not damaged through crushing, pulling, rubbing, or similar.
The mains lead must be inspected regularly as to damage (worn cables, spots of scorching,
etc.). Before care and maintenance work on the device, or when changing the accessories,
always disconnect the mains plug!
When changing connection leads, plugs, couplings, fuses, or sockets the technical data
stated by the manufacturer default must be observed, and original spares must be used.
Mechanical strength and splash water protection must be ensured.
The device must not be used if the condition of the connection lead is not perfect.
1.4 Use According to Regulations
This columbus aspirator is intended exclusively for wet sucking (water) and dry sucking
(vacuum-cleaning) of dust in the internal area of buildings. It is not intended for vacuumcleaning (dry sucking) and cleaning of objects with noxious dust or fluids adhering to. Use out
of doors is allowed only then if the device is protected against influences of weather
(particularly against rain). Any application beyond these uses is considered as being not in
accordance with regulations. The manufacturer will not be liable for any damage which
thereby results; the risk is borne solely by the user. The use according to regulations also
includes the compliance with the conditions of the manufacturer for operation, service, and
maintenance. The aspirator must be operated, maintained, and repaired by appropriately
qualified persons only and who are informed of the associated hazards.
The pertinent accident
prevention regulations as well as other generally recognised safety engineering and occupational
medicine regulations must be observed.
Any unauthorised alterations to the device will exclude
the manufacturer from liability for any damage thereby resulting.
1.5 Product Liability
The explicit attention of the operator is drawn to the models only being used for intended
application as specified. In the event of the device not being used for the intention specified,
this shall be at the sole responsibility of the user. All liability by the manufacturer shall then be
waived.

1.6 Sources of Danger
Drive carefully over thresholds and benches, otherwise damage can come up to
wheels or nozzles, resp.
The device is to be protected against frost, wetness, and long lasting
unchecked insolation.
1.7 Workplace
The workplace is located on the grip of the suction hose.
1.8 Approved Servicing Personnel
This columbus aspirator must be serviced and maintained by qualified and authorised
personnel only.
1.9 Procedure in Case of Emergency
Pull out the mains plug.
2 Description
This columbus dust and water aspirator is employed with its standard accessories for wet
sucking in the internal area of buildings. For further cases of application, particularly dry
sucking (vacuum cleaning), there are further extensive columbus accessories.
It is not suitable for wet sucking of inflammable fluids, vacuum cleaning (dry sucking) and
cleaning of objects to witch dust or fluids jeopardising to health are adhering. A use out of
doors is allowed only if the device is protected against influences of weather.
3 Delivery
To garant a safe transportation, the aspirator will be delivered in pre-assembled state.
Please check the completeness of the consignment.

4 Putting into Service
4.1 Connecting Suction Hose
One end of the suction hose is inserted into the connection tube of the aspiration tank, the
other end is plugged onto the suction tube (tighten both by a slight turn).
4.2 Connecting Tube Aspiration Nozzle
The tube aspiration nozzle is plugged onto the moved-in cone of the suction tube.
4.3 Retooling for Dry Sucking (Vacuum Cleaning)
Equip tube aspiration nozzle with brush strips (special accessories).
Insert textile filter (special accessories). For this switch off the device, release the two tension
arms on the tank and remove the cowl. Insert textile filter with its outside ring into the related
ring groove of the tank exactly.
The textile filter must be inserted into the tank in a way that the hems protruding
over the seams are not visible.
Then plug on cowl and clamp it by the both tension arms.

Special accessories to vacuum cleaning of hard floor and carpet floor areas may be found in
the columbus programme of accessories.
4.4 Connecting Electric Aspiration Brush (Special Accessories)
For this, special suction pipes and a particular suction hose are required.
The moved-in cone of the special suction tube is inserted into the connection nozzle of the
electric aspiration brush. The suction tube is fixed additionally by a clamping screw.
The connection cable is fixed on the suction hose by 6 clips. (First fix clips on connection
cable and then on suction hose).
For electrically connecting the electric aspiration brush the device must be
turned off.
The mains lead of the electric aspiration brush is connected to the outlet on the cowl
(protected by a flap against penetration of moisture).
For safety reasons only the electric aspiration brush recommended by us may be used.
5 Method of Working
Switching the appliances on and off is done by the rocker switch on the cowl. An electric
aspiration brush connected hereby will be turned on and off, too.
5.1 Working with the Electric Aspiration Brush
To avoid injuries of the carpet the electric aspiration brush always must be
moved on the carpet with running motor. Short dead times (e.g. direction
reversal) are harmless.
The best cleaning effect will be achieved if the electric aspiration brush is pulled backward.
5.2 Working with the Floor Nozzle (Special Accessories for Dry Sucking)
The floor nozzle can be used for sucking off both textile floorings and hard floors.
To work on textile floors the rocker arm residing at the left of the suction tube is tipped over
forward. Thereby the brush edge will be moved in.
To work on hard floors rocker the arm residing at the left of the suction tube is tipped over
backward. Thereby the brush edge will be moved out.
5.3 Exhausting the Tank
5.3.1 Wet Sucking
When the swimmer residing on the cowl discontinues the aspiration airflow (evident by
changed air noise of suction motor), the device is to be switched off and the container is to be
exhausted. For this release the two tension arms on the tank and remove the cowl.
5.3.2 Dry Sucking
A declining sucking power shows that the tank must be exhausted a/o the textile filter must
be cleaned.
With a high amount of fine dust, the pores of the textile filter may already be clogged in a
great extent although the tank is only partially filled.
For cleaning the textile filter it will usually do to knock it out thoroughly. Brush off serious dust
coverings with a soft brush before.

6 End of Work
After finishing the job remove mains plug and wind up connection lead. Store aspirator until
next use in a dry, frost-free room.
7 Care, Maintenance, and Repairs
All works must be performed carefully.
Maintenance work, as well as repairs of any kind, must only be carried out by authorised
service stations or by specialists in compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
At the beginning of all care, maintenance, and repair works the mains plug must
be pulled out!
The cowl may only be cleaned with a dry or slightly moistened cloth (if necessary, with
addition of meek detergents). The intrusion of water must be completely excluded.
Rinse tank with clear water and soft brush and rub it off well with a dry cloth. Do not close the
tank so that all parts can dry up correctly. Screw out suction hose, check floor nozzle and
suction tube for larger dirt depositions or constipation, clean if necessary.
Check suction hose for leaks or kinks.
Regularly check power cords and plug connections and the fender on the rocker switch for
damage.
