The CTCSS (Contin uous Tone Cont rolled Squelch System ) is a great conven ience w hen you are in an area wit h m any radios. It acts like a gate t o transmissions from ot her rad ios. Once your radi o is set t o a CTCSS cod e,y ou w ill only hear trans­mi ssion s fro m ot her radios on the same chann el and the same CTCSS code.
