CallExtend Programming Guide

CallExtend is programmed by dialing digits on a standard touch-tone phone connected to the ADMIN port. Data is stored in memory banks called PAGES. Eleven PAGES are available: PAGE 0 - PAGE 9 and PAGE *.

You only need to program PAGE 0 and the PAGES that correspond to the first digits your callers will be dialing. For example, if callers can dial

extensions 100, 110, etc. or dial 3 for sales, program PAGES 1 & 3.

Before programming CallExtend, answer each of the following questions and enter your answers into the Programming Log that follows these questions. You

will then be ready to program CallExtend from the Programming Log.

Programming System Settings

What is the hook-flash duration used by your phone system to

transfer calls? From the following chart, select the single digit that represents this duration:

no hook-flash........... 0 600 ms ..............5

250 ms .....................1 750 ms ..............6

300 ms .....................2 900 ms ..............7

400 ms .....................3 1 sec.................. 8

500 ms .....................4 1.5 sec............... 9

Now, turn to PAGE 0 of the Programming Log that follows

these questions. Enter this single digit into ROW 0, Field 1.

After CallExtend has played its greeting to a caller, how many

seconds (0-9) should it give the caller to dial an extension or a menu option, before transferring the call to the receptionist?

How should CallExtend supervise call transfers?

Programming Receptionist Extensions

What extension or phone number do you want CallExtend to use

as the receptionist when callers dial “0” or don’t dial anything from the main greeting? This field MUST be programmed.

If you selected Unsupervised mode in Question 3, skip to

Question 6 now. Otherwise, what extension or phone number do you want CallExtend to transfer calls to if the initial extension the caller dials is busy or doesn’t answer?

Programming PAGES 1-9

Do you want callers to be able to dial extensions directly? If not,

skip to Question 7.

In the Programming Log, go to each PAGE number you listed

in 6A. Enter the answer to 6B in ROW 0 of that PAGE.

Example: if your extensions start with either 1 or 2 and are 3

digits long, enter “3” in ROW 0 of PAGES 1 & 2.

Do you want callers to reach a specific extension by dialing a

single digit from the main menu? If not, skip to Question 8.

to reach by dialing the single digit in Column A.

In the Programming Log, go to each PAGE number you used

in Column A (e.g., digit 4 = PAGE 4). Enter a that PAGE. Then, enter the extension listed in Column B for that digit into ROW 1 of that same PAGE.

Example: To transfer callers who dial “4” to ext 215, enter a

Do you want callers to have a second menu to choose from after they have dialed

a single digit from the main menu? If so, refer to pages 23-24 of the manual. Also refer to these pages to have CallExtend play an information message (e.g., company address and hours) to callers who dial a digit from the main menu.

Programming Voice Messages

Do you want calls answered by CallExtend’s Port 1 to use the same messages as

calls answered by Port 2? If not, see pages 28 - 29 in the manual.

If you are having callers dial any single-digits from the main greeting, do you want

them to hear another voice message specific to the digit dialed?

Appendix B in the manual describes optional features used to customize CallExtend. If you program any of these features, record your programming in the following ROW instead of Questions 1-3 in this Programming Log. Fill in the other fields as indicated in Appendix B of the manual, and use the default values shown for any blank fields. To program, dial as shown on the ADMIN phone:
