Performing an Evidential Breath Alcohol Test (EBAT)
1. Press the screen to initiate the 2-minute warm-up period, bringing the instrument out of the screen saver mode.
During the 2-minute warm-up period, the instrument displays “NOT READY” and the button will be red with an “X”.
2. Press the start button to begin the EBAT sequence.

3. OPERATOR INFORMATION:
Enter your unique ID number by swiping your access card or using the keyboard. For operators using the keyboard, the PIN box will display but it may not be necessary to enter a PIN if one was not assigned.
4. ARRESTING OFFICER INFORMATION: If you are the arresting officer, answer Yes and continue to step 5. If you are NOT the arresting officer, answer No. Enter the arresting officer’s information on the screens that follow.

5. SUBJECT INFORMATION:
Enter Subject information via swiping the subject’s driver’s license or the keyboard. NOTE: If the DL is swiped, confirm information with subject.
6. INCIDENT INFORMATION: Enter incident information.

7. Check the 20-minute deprivation period acknowledgements. Affirm that each checklist item has been performed by touching the screen next to items 1-4 causing a checkmark to appear in the blue box.
Touch each blue box to
affirm that the 20-minute deprivation period was completed as specified.

8. Enter the start time of the 20-minute deprivation period using a 24-hour format. The I-9000 may be used to count down the 20-minute deprivation period and will start the test sequence once completed.
9. Perform EBAT sequence following the I-9000 prompts.

10. Enter any comments necessary that are specific to
the EBAT test
11. Sign your name using the signature pad.
The signature may be cleared by double tapping
the Clear button.

12. Select the number of copies desired and print the
report.
NOTE:
All printouts generated from the I-9000
MUST be included in the DUI packet to
include any Exception Message reports if
applicable.

Swipe your access card or enter your User ID number to proceed to the options menu.
Operators have three options:

I -9000 Re-certification
This option is for updating officer information, when necessary, and for operators to re-certify
WITHIN the 180-day period.
Reprint Subject Test
Reprints the last Subject’s Evidential Breath Alcohol Test (EBAT) performed.
Recall Test
Contains a searchable field to retrieve a previously run EBAT. Any two of these three fields—first name, last name and event date-­must be provided to perform the search.

Operator Re-certification Requirements
Annual Online Refresher Course
Annually the EBAT Operator refresher course must complete to maintain certification. The course may be found online at
www.co.train.org.
Re-certification EBAT
WITHIN 180 days, the EBAT Operator must complete a
re-certification EBAT to remain certified or when an operator needs to update their information.
To perform a re-certification EBAT, enter the OPTIONS menu and choose I-9000 Re-certification.
If you have changed employers or your name has changed, make those changes in the Operator Information screen.

When prompted, you will need to re-enter your email and direct phone number each time a 180-day re­certification is performed.
Operators DO-NOT enter a PIN.
Follow the remaining steps to complete the re­certification EBAT.
Once completed, the printout will indicate “Intoxilyzer 9000 Re-Certification Test Report” Retain this printout for your records.
Operators may perform a re-certification EBAT anytime within the 180-day certification period. A new 180-day period is calculated whenever this is performed.

Instructor Options
Press the blue OPTIONS button from the main screen.
Swipe your access card or enter your User ID number and PIN to proceed to the instructor menu.
Instructors have four menu options:

Control Testing
Calibration Check – Allows the instructor to perform a
calibration check. (Test sequence: ACA)
Stability Test – Allows the instructor to perform a series of calibration checks in succession to determine the instrument’s accuracy and precision. The instrument prompts the user to enter the number of calibration checks desired (minimum of
3) for the stability test. (Example: Test sequence for 5 checks is ACACACACACA.)
Breath Test – Allows the instructor to perform a single breath test. (Test sequence: ABA)
Diagnostics – Allows the instructor to perform a diagnostic check. (Test sequence: AD)
Configuration
General Settings – Allows instructors to set the default
number of copies to print with each subject test.
Standard Change – Allows the instructors to change the standard simulator solution in the Guth 12V500 simulator used to perform the calibration checks on the I-9000.

I-9000 Re-certification
This option is for updating officer information, when necessary, and for instructors to re-certify within the 365-day period.
Utility
Monitors – Displays the current status of the I-9000 and can
be used to activate the pump, fan, sounds, and solenoids.
Simulator Monitor – Displays the current status of the Guth Laboratories 12V500 simulator.
Printer Test – Checks the communication with the printer.
Reprint Test – Reprints the last test performed for the
selected option: Subject, Calibration, Diagnostic, or Stability.
Recall Test – Contains a searchable field to retrieve a previously run EBAT. Any two of these three fields—first name, last name and event date--must be provided to perform the search.

Instructor Re-certification Requirements
Annual Online Refresher Course
Annually the EBAT instructor refresher course must be completed to maintain certification. The course may be found at
www.co.train.org. In addition, the EBAT
instructor should complete a re-certification EBAT using the I-9000 Re-certification menu option. To complete this step follow the instructions under the “Operator Re-
certification Requirements” on page 10 of this manual.
Biennial Operator Class
At minimum, once every two years, the EBAT instructor must assist in facilitating one 8-hour EBAT operator certification course taught by the EBAT Program.
EBAT Operator certification courses will be held regionally statewide in addition to being held at the Laboratory Services Division. Dates and locations of the EBAT operator certification courses will be posted at
www.coloradoebat.us.

Changing the
Standard Simulator Solution
Press the blue OPTIONS button from the main screen.
Swipe your access card or enter your User ID number to proceed to the Instructor menus.
Select the CONFIGURATION button from the Main Options screen.
Select the STANDARD CHANGE button from the Configuration screen.

5. Using the information from the label on the solution
bottle, enter the following fields on the Standard Change screen:
a. The Lot #. b. The Bottle #. c. The Expiration Date.
6. Select the check button to begin the I-9000 solution
change stability test.
The I-9000 will include the solution change record as
part of the Intoxilyzer Performance Report (IPR) printed with each subject’s EBAT.
7. Review the stability test results for acceptability.
NOTE: All 10 calibration checks performed must fall within the 0.095 to 0.105 g/210L in order to pass. Any result outside of the acceptable range requires the solution change to be repeated.
8. Once completed, select the BACK button until the
I-9000 returns to the main screen.
