The Clearaudio
Smart Synchro
will, like its outrider Synchro (SPG), improve the sound quality of all
high end audio systems. You will immediately notice a larger, more stable and transparent sound
stage.
It simply improves the sound of your systems components better by eliminating any distortion and
voltage or frequency fluctuations.
The new
Smart Synchro
is designed to fit under the Clearaudio turntables like Emotion and
Emotion SE and is only suitable for Clearaudio synchronous motor (e.g. also for Performance and
Performance SE)

1. Introduction
Most AC power lines contain unusually high amounts of noise and fluctuations of voltage and
frequency. They may also contain distortion of up to 10 %. Standard power supplies cannot eliminate
all this noise and distortion. Some power line filters can help, but can do nothing about fluctuating
voltage or frequency. Clearaudio's
Smart Synchro
will eliminate all these problems and will actually
improve the sound quality of your system, thus taking it to a new level of realism.
The Clearaudio
Synchro Power Generator
combines two units in one housing:
Distortion free AC power with constant line voltage 230V~ or 115V~
Constant frequency generator variable between e.g. 47 to 89 Hz
On the front panel (left button), you will notice a switch botton marked with 33 rpm and 45 rpm.
While channel 1 can be set to a fixed working frequency of 50 Hz (33 rpm), channel 2 can be set to
higher frequencies e.g. 67,5 Hz ( 45 rpm). The actual working frequency can be switched any time
during operation between 50 Hz and any 67,5 Hz or other frequency.
It is recommended to start in 33 1/3 switch position and than switch to 45 rpm.

2. How to use
Note: The Clearaudio Smart Synchro was designed for a
maximum peak power of 3 watts.
DO NOT use units requiring more than 3 watts.
The Clearaudio
Smart Synchro
unit was designed to be placed under Clearaudio turntables models
like Emotion, Emotion SE, Performance and Performance SE with synchronous motor.
Phonostages are devices designed to provide a very high level of amplification. This is necessary
because the electrical signal generated by a phono cartridge is extremely low (usually less than onethousandth of a volt). The job of the phonostage is therefore to accurately equalise the phono signal
and boost it to line level (measured in volts).
However, phonostages are by nature extremely sensitive, which leads to the potential problem that
high-frequency interference may also be amplified to a point at which it becomes noticeable.
Unfortunately it is not possible to completely protect the sensitive phonostage circuitry from this
interference without degrading its high fidelity performance. Therefore care must be taken to position
the phonostage away from sources of high frequency interference such as mobile phones, modems
and powerline communication systems (PLC) in which data is sent over the mains power network.
On the front panel of the Clearaudio
Smart Synchro
you will find on the right side the button
“ON / OFF”.
Please make sure, that the button is in the “OFF” position before installing the power supply unit !
1. First connect the electrical connection with the
Smart Synchro
(on the backside) and your turntable.
2. Now take the power supply unit and insert the country-specific adapter together with the power
supply. After that you can connect the
Smart Synchro
(on the backside: DC IN) with the mains
supply.
2.If the blue LED light up (in the middle of the front panel) the
Smart Synchro
is now ready for
operating.
3.The left button on the front panel changes the speed between 33 1/3 RPM and 45 RPM.
From the factory the frequency is pre-setted:
For Channel 1 (33 1/3 RPM ) = 60 Hz
For Channel 2 (45 RPM) = 81 Hz
