- Introduction -
Most AC power lines contain unusually high amounts of noise and fluctuations of voltage and
frequency. They may also contain distortion of up to 30 %. Standard power supplies cannot eliminate
all this noise and distortion. Some power line filters can help, but can do nothing about fluctuating
voltage or frequency. clearaudio's
APG
will eliminate all these problems and will actually improve the
sound quality of your system, thus taking it to a new level of realism.
The clearaudio
APG
combines three units in one housing:
• Distortion free AC power with constant line voltage (230V~ or 110V~)
• Constant frequency generator variable between 46 to 64 Hz (channel 1)
• Constant frequency generator variable between 59 to 92 Hz (channel 2)
On the front panel, you will notice a switch marked channel 1 and channel 2. While channel 1 can be
set to a fixed working frequency of 50 or 60Hz, channel 2 can be set to higher frequencies
(max. 92 Hz). The actual working frequency can be switched any time during operation between 50Hz
and any other frequency.
The power supplies on most airplanes and ships are designed for a working frequency of 400Hz, thus
allowing a smaller, lighter power supply. The power supplies of much audio equipment is too small to
work properly at 50Hz or 60Hz. In such cases using a higher than standard power supply frequency
can often improve the sound quality.
The clearaudio
APG
can of course be used as an ultra clean power source for turntables. With the
selector switch on the right side of the clearaudio
APG
either 33 1/3 (50 Hz resp. 60 Hz.)
or 45 rpm (67.5 Hz resp. 81 Hz) can be selected.
It is recommended to start in 33 1/3 position and then switch to 45 rpm.
- How to use -
Î Note: The Clearaudio APG was designed for a Í
maximum peak power of 75 watts.
DO NOT use units requiring more than 75 watts.
You will find the following when unpacking your APG:
• Clearaudio Accurate Power Generator
• One primary AC power cord
Although the clearaudio
APG
unit can be placed anywhere (within the limits of the power cord) it is
recommended to keep it away from phono cartridges, phono cables and phono preamps.
On the back panel of the clearaudio
APG
is the mains ON-OFF switch.
The power is “ON”, when this main switch is “ON”.
Additionally, there are two switches on the front panel. The switch on the left is an ON/OFF switch.
The OFF position is to the left, with the ON position to the right. In the ON position a blue LED will
light.
Be certain the power switches on the back and on the front side are in “OFF” position before installing
the primary AC power cord and before connecting the APG AC output secondary adapter or other
units.
