GENERAL CHARACTERISTIC

The PTO generator is designed to be driven by a tractor with a power take off speed of 430 to 540 rpm. It has a strong frame with a category 1 and 3N 3point linkage. It has a IP44 control panel in compliance with... the current European standards. The generator has an IP21 or IP23 standard protection and can be uprated to IP45 protection upon request. The unit is continuously rated at the given power and is capable of supplying an overload of 300% during 20 seconds and of 10% during 1 hour every 6 hours.
WARNING: DO NOT USE THE GEARBOX 24/24 AS IT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR SUCH USE. IT MUST BE STOPPED FOR A BREAK OF 1 HOUR AFTER EVERY 2HOUR PERIOD OF USE.
There are two types of regulation available:
GENERATORS WITH COMPOUND REGULATION:
The output voltage of this type of alternator is directly related to the speed of the engine. At low speed, the output voltage will be less than 400V and a high speed will cause the voltage to rise above 400V. The voltage regulation is +/5% at constant speed.
We recommend this alternator for the supply of simple resistive loads or for the running of electrical motors, we do not recommend this system for powering sensitive electronic equipment unless they are equipped with an inverter.
GENERATORS WITH ELECTRONIC REGULATION:
The output voltage of this type of generator can accept speed variations of 45 to 55Hz, with a tolerance of more or less 10% with regard to the nominal speed which is 1500 rpm. The voltage is maintained at +/- 1% in these conditions. This generator is perfectly suited to all types of load requirements, in particular it is recommended for use when powering sensitive electronic equipment.
ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY
All generators are fitted with radio interference suppression in accordance with class G and N of standard VDE0875

SAFETY ADVICE

1. Loose fitting garments should not be worn when working in close proximity of the rotating PTO shaft.
2. Be sure to always switch of the engine before attempting to de-couple the PTO shaft.
3. In case of breakdown be sure to seek advice from a qualified technician before attempting to repair. In all circumstances we recommend only genuine spare parts to be fitted.
4. Disregarding these rules will invalidate the warranty. We recommend running the PTO generator every three months to prolong its lifetime.
5. During prolonged storage of the PTO, it is necessary to clean it and grease it carefully. Storage should be in a dry and ventilated place. Always check the level of oil before starting and run for 30 minutes in no-load conditions before applying loads. Non-compliance with this instruction may result in damage to the windings of the machine.
6. To avoid any risk of electrocution, it is imperative to connect the PTO to the earth.

RESIDUAL RISKS

1. The housing can reach temperatures over 100°C when running. You are therefore advised not to touch it or place any object against it which is not heat-resistant.
2. Avoid using the PTO under any source of heat and ensure the ventilation inlet is always clear of debris.
3. During any maintenance of the PTO always consider the appropriate protective clothing and footwear.
4. The manufacturer shall not be liable in the following circumstances:
a) Abnormal use of the PTO by non-qualified operators.
b) Incorrect installation.
c) Malfunction of the tractor with which it is connected.
d) Modification of the equipment not authorized by the manufacturer.
e) Use of spare parts which are not of genuine source.
f) Exceptional events such as mis-connection causing short circuit etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

RISKS DUE TO NOISE:
Whilst the noise emitted by the PTO is lower than that emitted by the tractor we recommend the wearing of hearing protection when subjected to prolonged usage.
RISK OF FIRE:
Due to its technology, the generator, like all current conductors, may cause electric arcs, even if this is relatively rare. In case of fire, use only a fire extinguisher with powder.
TRANSPORT:
When transporting the PTO hitched behind the tractor we recommend that the PTO drive shaft is detached.

INSTALLATION

Park the tractor on a flat and safe surface. Stabilize the PTO and connect its frame to the 3-point linkage (1, 2 & 3). Secure it using the pins (4, 5 & 6).
Attach the universal joint of the PTO shaft on to the power take off of the tractor and fix to the gearbox PTO shaft. Before any operation verify the alignment by checking the universal joints are horizontally aligned. (the angle of the shaft should not exceed 35 degrees).
Any operation of the equipment with the PTO shaft coupled at a greater angle would result in premature failure in the gearbox and possibly the universal joint of the shaft.

MAINTENANCE

LEVEL AND DRAINING

Before start up the level of oil in the gearbox should be checked using the level indictor.
The level is correct when there is not an air bubble. If it is necessary add SAE 80/90 oil.
After the first 50 hours operation the gearbox oil should be changed, please refer to page 15/66 for the qty of oil required.
Subsequent oil changes should occur every 500 hours of operation or every 12 months.
Respecting this maintenance regime will ensure optimization of the gearbox's lifetime.

CLEANING

Cleaning: Cleaning of the generator must be performed with a dry or damp rag. Compressed air can be used to blow out debris that may have accumulated inside the generator (please see the diagram for the direction of flow).
NEVER USE A HIGH PRESSURE WATER DEVICE TO CLEAN YOUR GENERATOR

STORAGE

Storage: When not in use the PTO must be stored in a clean, dry, ventilated place. Never cover the PTO with a cover as this may allow damp to degrade the insulation level of the windings.
• Do not store in a dusty environment.
• Do not store in an acid environment.
• Do not store in an explosive environment.
After storage it is recommended to operate the PTO without any load applied for 30 minutes in order to ventilate and dry the windings. The resistance value of the windings must be in excess of 5 Meg ohms.
