CHARGING THE DEVICE
CHARGING
You can charge the jumpstarter using:
• The 12V DC USB car adapter.
• A device with a USB output socket.
1. Plug the USB-C charging cable into the
jumpstarter PD60W input port and the other end in to a suitable car adapter socket, or into any other suitable power source.
• If you are using a car adapter socket it is recommended that you start the engine.
• If no suitable USB-C power socket or power source is available a USB-A to USB-C cable (not supplied) can be used instead.
2. Disconnect the charger when fully charged.
TO GET THE MAXIMUM LIFE FROM THE BATTERY
• Charge the jumpstarter before first use.
• Charge the jumpstarter at least every 3 months and after each use
• DO NOT leave in a state of discharge.

CHARGING ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS
The jumpstarter has two USB-A ports (1 x QC3.0 quick charge port & 1 x 5V/2.4A standard port) and one USB-C port.
1. Connect one end of a charging cable (USB-C to USB-C or USB-A to USB-C) to the corresponding output port of the jumpstarter.
2. Connect the other end of the cable to your device(s).
3. If using a USB-C to USB-C cable, the jumpstarter will automatically start charging your device; if using a USB-A to USB-C cable (not supplied), press and hold the POWER button for 2 seconds to turn the jumpstarter on, then the jumpstarter will start to charge your device(s).
RUNNING/CHARGING VIA DC PORT
1. Verify the jumpstarter is fully charged. Recharge if needed.
2. Make sure the appliance has a maximum voltage of 15V and is turned off.
3. Connect the appliance into the DC outlet 5521 socket (5.5 x 2.1mm).
4. Turn on the appliance.
5. When finished, turn off and unplug the appliance.
6. Recharge the jump starter.
• A mobile phone may typically take one hour to
recharge.
• The jumpstarter will power off automatically when no load is found.
JUMP STARTING A VEHICLE
WARNING: IT IS POSSIBLE THAT SOME ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT COULD BE DAMAGED BY JUMP STARTING. ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE CAR MANUFACTURER’S HANDBOOK TO DETERMINE WHAT PRECAUTIONS IF ANY SHOULD BE TAKEN.
WARNING: FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW AND THE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS ON PAGES 3-4 MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY, DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE OR BATTERY.

CAUTION: TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, DO NOT USE THE JUMP STARTER ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS NO BATTERY INSTALLED.
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH POSTIVE AND NEGATIVE BATTERY CLAMPS TOGETHER.
NOTE: This device will not jumpstart a vehicle if the battery is very low.
NOTE: Ensure that the jumpstarter is at least 80% charged before you attempt
to jumpstart.
CONNECTING THE JUMPER CABLE TO THE JUMPSTARTER
1. Lift the rubber plug and insert the jumpstarter cable connector into the vehicle
starter cable port.
• The LEDs on the smart cable will indicate
the units internal battery voltage status and the display symbols will flash.
CONNECTING THE START LEADS TO THE VEHICLE BATTERY
ALWAYS carry out the following preliminary checks before connecting the jump-start
to the car battery:
• Switch off the vehicle ignition and all ancillary equipment (lighting, radio etc.)
• Ensure the vehicle battery is rated at 12V and not damaged in any way.
• Ensure the area is well ventilated.
• Make sure that the battery terminals are clean and the clamps are firm and
secure.
• If fitted, remove any vehicle battery filler plugs and check the electrolyte
level. If necessary, top up with distilled water.
• Verify the jump starter is fully charged and recharge if needed.
1. Connect the red positive (+) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal first. Take care the clamps DO NOT touch any moving parts or fuel lines.
2. Connect the black clamp to the earthed battery terminal, (this is usually the negative (-ve) terminal and coloured BLACK) or to a suitable earthing point on the vehicle chassis ensuring the connections are firm and secure. Consult the vehicle manual for correct connection position.

Page 9
NOTE: If the battery fails to be
detected (due to low voltage), then the cable has an override switch available, this is on the side as shown. When this is pressed the output of
15.6V becomes available on the crocodile clamps even if a battery is not present.
THIS FUNCTION SHOULD BE USED WITH CAUTION.
STARTING THE ENGINE
1. Switch or press the vehicle ignition to ‘start’. If the engine does not start, SWITCH OFF the ignition and wait for at least 30 seconds before trying again.
2. If the vehicle does not start after 3 attempts, investigate any problems with the vehicle systems before re-trying.
3. Once the engine is running, disconnect the earthed (-) clamp FIRST i.e. that connected to the chassis or Negative (-) terminal etc, then disconnect the Positive (+) clamp from the battery terminal. You should remove the connections
within 30 seconds of starting the vehicle.
4. Leave the vehicle engine running for a while to let the alternator recharge the battery.
• Take great care not to touch the red positive (+) clamp against the black
negative (-) clamp when connected to the jumpstarter.
5. Leave the jumpstarter for 30 minutes before re-charging following jumpstarting a vehicle.
• If the battery is allowed to remain in a discharged state its life may be
reduced.
• The jumpstarter will power off automatically when no load is found.
WARNINGS AND ISSUES
1. When the clamps are connected to the vehicle battery (the battery
voltage must be ≥ 8V), the symbol lights up and displays the current vehicle battery voltage.
2. When the clamps are only connected to the jumpstarter:
• The current voltage is displayed
on the cable display and the upper small symbols cycle from left to right, indicating the voltage of the jumpstarter is suitable for starting.

Page 10
• The characters will display on the cable display, the buzzer beeps
long or symbol lights up, the buzzer beeps every second, indicating the voltage of the jumpstarter is not suitable for starting. Charging of jumpstarter needed.
• When the symbol flashes, the buzzer beeps a long alarm this
indicates the relay is sticking. The alarm beeps once a second, this indicates that the temperature is abnormal.
3. When the jumpstarter and vehicle battery are correctly connected, the cable displays the current battery voltage indicating the vehicle is energized and can be started.
4. When starting the vehicle, if the symbol lights up on the cable display with the symbol flashing, the buzzer beeps every second, this indicates that the temperature is abnormal.
5. When the clamps are connected to the jumpstarter, if only the current voltage is displayed and the cable display, DO NOT let the clamps come into contact with each other.
6. When the clamps are connected to the jumpstarter, if only the current voltage is displayed and the cable display, DO NOT connect the clamps to the wrong terminals.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
Always ensure the cables & clamps are in good condition and the clamps are clean and corrosion free. If damaged they should be replaced. Keep the unit clean by wiping with a dry cloth. DO NOT use solvents as a cleaning agent.
Keep the unit fully charged at all times and store away from direct sunlight, moisture or sources of extreme heat or cold.
NEVER attempt any repair unless you are a qualified technician. Your jump-start has been designed to give long and trouble free service. If, however, having followed the instructions in this booklet carefully, you encounter problems, take the unit to your local CLARKE dealer.
