THREAD CUTTING KIT

Thank you for purchasing this CLARKE Metric Thread Cutting Kit, for use with Mini
Lathe CL250M.

By changing gear configurations, it is possible to cut Metric threads of pitch...

0.5, 0.7, 0.8, 1.0, and 1.25mm. Additionally, two feed rates (mm per revolution) may
be set, of 0.05 and 0.1mm, for fine and coarse turning.

To change the gears, proceed as follows:

1. Ensure the lathe is disconnected from the mains supply.

2. Remove the screw securing the Running Gear Cover.

3. Using the 6mm hex wrench provided,
slacken the pinch bolt indicated in Fig.1 and
allow the gears to become disengaged.

Undo the screw securing the gear to the
appropriate shaft and replace as necessary.
Take care to ensure the spacers are fitted in
their correct position, so that the gears are
perfectly in line when fitted.

4. Finally bring the gears back into mesh and
tighten the pinch bolt.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT force the gears into

mesh....there should be no perceptible backlash but

the gears must not bind.

5. Connect to the mains and run the machine to check
its operation and to ensure no binding takes place.

A gear configuration chart is provided on the Running Gear Cover,
which is duplicated overleaf.
