Before attempting to use the tube roller it is essential that you read this manual
thoroughly and carefully follow all instructions given. In doing so you will ensure
the safety of yourself and that of others around you and you can also look
forward to the product giving you long and satisfactory service.
FUNCTIONS
1. This tool is intended to bend mild steel, copper and aluminum tubing. It
can be used for bending exhaust pipes, water pipe and electrical conduit.
DO NOT bend plastic or PVC pipe with this tool.
2. This tool includes 6 rollers: 3 rollers for round tube and 3 rollers for square
tube. If the upper roller is for round tube, then the lower roller must be for
round tube. If the upper roller is for square tube then the lower roller must
be for square tube. DO NOT mix the use of round and square rollers.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Due to the weight of the tube roller the help of an assistant may be
beneficial during unpacking or when moving it around.
• ALWAYS operate on a suitably strong bench with adequate light.
• ALWAYS check for signs of cracked welds or any other structural damage
before starting work. DO NOT operate if any of these conditions exist. Have
repairs made only by a CLARKE service centre.
• The components of this tube roller are designed to withstand the rated
capacity. DO NOT substitute any other components or exceed the rated
capacity.
• ALWAYS ensure the workpiece is secure before applying pressure.
• DO NOT allow anyone who is unfamiliar with this tool to use the tube roller
unless they are under direct supervision.
• ALWAYS ensure the work piece is properly positioned.
• ALWAYS keep hands and fingers away from parts that may pinch or shift.
• NEVER use extension tubes to increase the length of the handle. Excessive
effort can cause damage and/or accidents.
Ensure the product suffered no damage during transit and that all items are
present. Should any loss or damage become apparent, please contact your
CLARKE dealer immediately. The following items are supplied.
1. To bench mount, choose an
appropriate work bench for
mounting. The workbench should be
solid, level and strong enough to
support the weight of the tool, the
work material and pressure applied
to the tool during application.
2. Unscrew the knob on one end of the
Rotary Handle Bar and feed the Bar
through the hole in the top of the
Travelling Bolt and screw the knob
back on the bar.
3. Mount the Driving Handle onto the
Driving Shaft. Secure the handle in
place using the M10 x 25 Hex Bolt. Be
sure the Driving Handle and Driving
Shaft turn freely, then tighten the hex
bolt securely using the 6mm hex key
provided.
4. Select the correct rollers to match
the tubing type (round or square)
you will be working with, see
‘Changing Roller Dies’ on Page 5.
1. Remove the Locking Pin and Washer
from the Driving Shaft.
2. Using the 6mm Hex Key, loosen the
Set Screws on the Upper Roller, then
pull the Driving Shaft out the Side
Wall and replace the Upper Roller.
3. Tighten the Set Screws on the Upper
Roller and replace the Washer and
Locking Pin.
4. Choose the correct Lower Rollers for
your workpiece (round or square)
and place them in the appropriate
grooves on the tool, making sure that
the rollers are in the corresponding
grooves either side of the driving
shaft.
NOTE: There are 4 lower roller position
grooves on each side of the
tool. Placing the rollers nearer
to the centre of the tool will give you a tighter bend radii.
5. Lock the Lower Rollers in place by tightening the bolt on the side of the
rollers using the 22mm spanner provided.
1. Turn the Rotary Handle on top
counter-clockwise, which will raise
the Upper Roller.
2. After raising the bottom edge of the
Upper Roller above the top edges of
the Bottom Rollers, place the work
piece into the tools cutouts of the
rollers until it is contacting all three
rollers, then using the Rotary Handle
to tighten the Travelling Bolt down by
a 1/4 of a turn to put light pressure on
the tubing.
3. Facing the Driving Handle, begin
forming by feeding your tubing into
the left hand side of the tool while
turning the Driving Handle clockwise
and tightening down gently with the
Rotary Handle.
4. When creating tighter radii, you may need to spiral your work piece slightly
to clear the body of the tool. This can easily be flattened out after
completion.
